Jujutsu Kaisen: I Can Travel Back in Time-Chapter 46 - 40 Murder case
Chapter 46 - 40 Murder case
After reading Kento Tomie's report, Masamichi Yaga cast a suspicious glance at Gojo Satoru, who sat upright at his desk with an air of exaggerated innocence. "When you arrived at the scene, the special-grade cursed fetus was about to hatch?"
"Yes," Gojo replied succinctly.
"And you weren't aware that a serious murder had occurred in that apartment building? Two police officers and a teenage boy were killed."
"No idea. I was only there to purify the special-grade cursed fetus. Didn't even go upstairs." Gojo shook his head firmly.
"And the massive crater in front of the building—that was part of the purification process?" Yaga narrowed his eyes.
"Ah, that's right! My friend can vouch for me. Plus, the new special-grade was tough—I had to use the Hollow Technique." Gojo patted his chest with mock seriousness.
"This friend of yours—not a sorcerer, I take it?"
"Uh... no."
"Really?"
"Really." Gojo's tone was sincere, his expression as guileless as a white-haired cat.
Yaga regarded him in silence for a moment before finally speaking. "You handled it correctly this time. Officer Megure from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police wants you to visit the crime scene and provide a statement. As for the damage in front of the building—it's been explained away as an accident. Just avoid mentioning your involvement."
"Eh? So I get to skip class today?" Gojo's lips curled into a grin.
Yaga ignored his enthusiasm. "If you find any evidence linking the murders to a cursed spirit or a curse user, report it immediately."
Gojo nodded obediently, though the gleam in his eye suggested he was already scheming. Yaga gave him one last look before leaving the classroom.
An hour later, Gojo arrived at the apartment building in Shinjuku's 2-chome district. The crater he'd created had already been filled, leaving only a mound of fresh earth. Most residents had returned, but the third floor remained sealed off by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police.
With three victims—two officers and a minor—the case was being handled with utmost seriousness.
As Gojo stepped onto the third floor, he spotted Geto Suguru and a small boy in glasses standing outside an apartment door. Inside, Officer Megure conferred with several investigators, including the unmistakable figure of Mouri Kogoro.
The bodies had been removed, and the scene scoured for evidence.
"Geto! You here too?" Gojo draped an arm over his friend's shoulder, earning a glance of pure disdain.
From inside the apartment, Mouri Kogoro's boisterous laugh rang out. "Hahahaha! I already know who the murderer is!"
His proclamation caught everyone's attention.
"Brother Mouri, are you sure?" Officer Megure blinked in surprise.
"Of course! I am the great Mouri Kogoro!" Kogoro puffed up his chest. "The murderer is... the dead boy himself!"

Silence fell.
"The door lock was broken," Kogoro explained confidently. "The boy must have panicked when he saw the police, attacked them in desperation, and was fatally injured in the struggle. He staggered back inside and died on the sofa."
Gojo raised an eyebrow. "Kid," he said, leaning toward the boy in glasses, "are you sure this guy's really a detective?"
The boy—Conan—let out a quiet sigh. "Uncle Mouri, Kudo-san said the boy was already dead when the police arrived, and there were no signs of a struggle."
Kogoro faltered, scratching his head sheepishly. "Wait... how did Kudo know that?"
"Because," Officer Megure cut in, "Kudo asked us to find this boy. When our officers arrived, they found him already deceased."
Kogoro chuckled awkwardly before turning and delivering a light smack to Conan's head. "Why didn't you say that earlier, brat?"
"Ow!" Conan clutched his head, scowling as he shuffled a few steps away.
Geto, meanwhile, raised a hand calmly. "Also, when Gojo and I arrived, the door was locked. It was only kicked open later."
Officer Megure gave Gojo a wary glance. "You kicked it open?"
"Yeah." Geto nodded, offering no further explanation.
The officer sighed but let it slide. "Conan, do you think this boy's death is linked to Kudo's investigation?"
"It's possible," Conan replied. "Kudo-san was looking into a game promotion the boy participated in at Disneyland."
"Right!" Megure snapped his fingers. "Puzzle & Dragons. Someone check what events Yamashita Gen attended recently."
At the mention of the name, Gojo's expression darkened.
"Satoru?" Geto asked quietly, noticing the shift.
Gojo's mind drifted back to a past mission. Years ago, as a teacher at Jujutsu High, he'd been tasked with investigating a series of unexplained curses plaguing ordinary households. The culprit had turned out to be a curse user named Yamashita Ryo, who manipulated cursed spirits through modern technology.
"Is there someone named Yamashita Ryo in this boy's family?" Gojo asked abruptly.
A nearby officer looked up in surprise. "Yeah—he's the boy's older brother. How did you know?"
