Chapter 139: Champion of zero gravity.

When Mei Mei arrived at the camp, she was surprised to find that they had foreign guests. She could discern their accents with ease and guessed that they were Americans.

Carrying a bag in one hand hand and transparent pet carrier in which a frog was leaping, trying to eat virtual insects, Mei Mei walked towards the welcome desk, weaving her way through the many camp guests that were mostly parents with toddlers and adults that appeared to be on dates.

There were three people that worked at the welcome or reception desk of the camp, one man and two women. They were all attending to guests at the moment, people that were checking into the camp and registering or checking out.

"Zhang Jing," She called over one of the women.

"Yes boss." The woman quickly rushed over, looking back at the line of six guests she had still had to register or check out.

"Why are there many guests today?" Mei Mei asked her.

"A big fish came today." Zhang Jing whispered.

Mei Mei raised her eyebrow curiously. "What big fish?"

She put the pet carrier and bag on the desk and retrieved her phone. She had received a few calls and texts from Song Shengsheng which she had not yet looked at. But in her defense, they had only come in twenty minutes ago and she was already on her way to the camp by then.

"He is called Arnold Panda, he is a fitness enthusiast from the American empire. I don’t know who he is but apparently some people do." She gestured to the young men and women that were joining the lines to check in. They were holding glow sticks and wearing shirts with words like, "Panda for the win. We love all panda’s, I am going home with a panda."

"Err....." Mei Mei’s face was a little twisted after reading the words on the shirt of a young woman that was was dressed as if she was going for yoga in leggings and sneakers with the shirt tied around her midriff to form a crop top. She had panda ears on her head. "Thank you Zhang Jin, go back to work." She sent the woman away.

Rather than retreat to her office, she joined the employees behind the welcome desk and got to work. From the reception desk, she moved to the zero gravity playing field where Arnold Panda was already showing off in front of his many fans.

Mei Mei had been expecting to see something unique but he was not doing anything special, simply floating around and executing the same old tricks he always did, just while floating.

"Nothing special..hmm, I would love to see you try." C4 commented.

He did a triple backflip and the fans cheered loudly.

"Go Panda." Someone bellowed in a deep bass.

Watching from the side, Mei Mei’s mind gravitated in an entirely different direction. She pictured a real panda doing what Arnold Panda was doing. Now that would be awesome, something worth cheering for.

Arnold Panda did the triple backflip again, and again, fans cheered as if they were seeing it for the first time. Mei Mei made the spontaneous decision to switch things up a notch.

All the camp equipment could be upgraded. Arnold was playing the kid’s level, it was time to introduce him to the adult level and see if he could keep up.

"System, upgrade the playing field."

"You have enough points for a one level upgrade only." It told her.

"Do it."

Arnold was about to run along the walls of the field when some parts of the wall started to move and canons appeared.

"WTF?" Arnold mouthed out.

Out of the canons, round white orbits were fired at him. He barely had time to process what was going on and immediately leaped. He threw himself on one orbit, hanging on to it with a cat grab. and jumped onto another.

"This is too easy." he laughed. He was proud of himself, even when gravity was weighing him down, he was still agile and quick.

He stood on an orbit and posed for pictures, flashing his fans his famous smile. He was still showing off when the orbits vanished and he found himself falling but again, he was quick to find balance and steady himself, floating upwards.

Floating asteroid rings fell above and Arnold attacked them with greed and eagerness. Launching himself off the starting pod, he twisted through them using him arms to aid him like a swimmer in a pool as they were getting smaller and smaller.

The fans were on the edge, wondering what would happen if he did not make it through the asteroid rings which were giving off flames. Would he be squished and burned to death?

"Will he make it?"

"He won’t make it? Oh I can’t watch this."

"Go Arnold, go, go...."

The enthusiastic screams of the fans coupled with everyone that was taking pictures or broadcasting live had attracted attention of many people that had rushed over to watch.

"It is such a shame that their is no sports commentator for this." Someone that was near Mei Mei said.

She agreed because it was actually fun.

In the playing field, just when Arnold Panda was about to escape the last ring and land on a rotating disc, the anti gravity pulse activated, reversing his momentum. Thinking fast, he grabbed a tractor bean drone, swinging himself to safety.

Before he could relax and show off again, a new challenge was started. Gigantic holographic wall appeared and trapped him between them.

"Oh my God, he is going to suffocate. Help him." Someone screamed.

Mei Mei had to roll her eyes at that. Did people not realize that the walls were holograms? Apart from a little electrocution, Arnold would be just fine.

The walls disappeared and and appeared again. With seconds to react, he floated upwards to avoid being trapped. There were moving energy plates in the air, he twisted mid-air and barely caught one, hanging on to it by his fingertips.

The crowd gasped, they applauded. Arnold Panda was the man, the zero gravity whisperer.

The walls kept coming for him and he kept leaping and twisting like a cat maneuvering through them like a pro. When he was getting used to them, they changed shape and increased in number and size.

Arnold Panda was sweating buckets, but he did not lose the smile on his face or the determination to win. Mei Mei was grateful for all the publicity he was giving her. In fact she was hoping that she would pass. Others like him would follow, eager to prove themselves the champions of zero gravity.

She rummaged through her bag for her phone, to take some pictures for the camp’s official weibo page. The crowd gasped exaggeratedly and she looked up to see what she had missed.

"Did you see that?" Someone asked.

"He did a mid-air roll, pushed himself off the ceiling with a perfect backflip and floated to the ledge. Holy shit!!!"

The crowd clapped and roared, stadium horns were sounded and Mei Mei covered her ears. Next time someone famous came to the camp, she would have to charge double the camp entrance fee.

She was just turning to leave when she saw her sister Jun Yi in the crowd, cheering loudly, wearing one of those I am going home with a panda shirts.

"Oh no you won’t." Mei Mei muttered.
