Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday-Chapter 59: What an opening!
Chapter 59: What an opening!
Mei Mei had invited the reporters, specifically those from Phoenix news. As for the rest, they had come of their own volition. There were too many of them that it almost seemed like this was the opening of a very important event like the national Olympics.
Before opening the space camp, it was her plan to give a speech and a small stage had been arranged against the backdrop of the base of the moon shaped side of the building. Mei Mei, the founder of the camp stood at the podium, her tailored red suit neat and commanding. Her hair was drawn back and tied in a neat ponytail, calling attention to her beautiful face. Her smile was poised but her knuckles whitened as she gripped the edges of the lectern.
"Good morning everyone," She began, her voice steady.
"Good morning mommy." Mingzhu shouted into a reporter’s microphone.
While people laughed, Feng Qi pushed the microphone away to prevent any other interesting responses during the speech.
"Thank you Mo Mingzhu for your enthusiastic response." Mei Mei grinned wider.
Reporters buzzed like bees, cameras clicking as they captured pictures of Mingzhu. She was the little general in the video, this was a great opportunity for them.
"Thank you all for coming," Mei Mei started her speech again, "today, we embark on a new journey to inspire the next generation of explorers. Pearl space camp is not just a play ground or an ordinary camp--it is the conceptualization of a dream for the young ones who dare to look beyond the stars."
"Wooo." Rose shouted. She started applauding and the crowd naturally followed.
As for the reporters, it was another golden opportunity, they got to capture the CEO of Phoenix group out of her cold character. As the crowd applauded, Mei Mei’s eyes flickered to the edge of the first row. There he was--her scum husband or soon to be ex-husband, Mo Liang, sitting smugly with his arms crossed across his chest. His mistress, Tang Yue, clad in a white dress, held their son on her lap.
She seemed to be uncomfortable which confused Mei Mei. Why had she come knowing that there were reporters at the event and whose event it was?
Mei’ Mei’s eyes drew back to her daughter and she smiled. Mingzhu was waving a hand drawn poster with the words ’you are the best mommy, this general loves you.’
"This silly girl." she thought. Her heart swelled with love for her daughter. She put the feelings of happiness aside and went back to her speech.
"As a child, I was always curious about what lay beyond the stars. Mostly because my twin brother was obsessed with it and he kept hogging the telescope."
The crowd laughed.
"He always said that it was his hope to live up there before his life came to a natural end. It has been twenty nine years and he has not yet got that opportunity. His dream has never deterred however.
This is because he is not alone in dreaming and there are millions around the world like him--dreamers. But this dream requires resilience, determination, and...."
"Sacrifice!" Mo Liang’s voice cut through the air like a blade. He stood, his stupid grin wide and self assured. "The sacrifice of people such as myself and let’s not forget, vision. I envisioned this space camp where I could pass on the knowledge of what I learned when I was up there with all the children of the world."
There was a moment of silence, save for the clicking of cameras capturing the unfolding drama. Mei Mei had expected something like this and she had taken precautions.
Jingzhe had positioned himself Mo Liang, he fired a dart from the paralyzing gun which Mei had given him. Suddenly, Mo Liang twitched a few times and he fell to the ground. The clicking of cameras and flashes became even more rapid.
"A Yang." Tang Yue screamed.
She quickly knelt down to check his condition. The royal guards assigned to Mo Liang rushed to carry him away. But hell broke loose when the national space baby cried out, "Daddy, daddy wake up."
The reporters lost interest in Mei Mei’s speech, like vultures they descended on the child, questioning him on why he had just called Mo Ling his dad. Agents retrieved him quickly. In fact, the agent that carried Mo Hao away, did it as though the child was a sack of potatoes over his shoulders.
The reporters did not give up, they followed the national agents, racing after them in space cars, demanding for answers.
As if that was not dramatic enough, the mighty peep star posted on weibo at that exact moment.
The mighty little peepstar: [An updated family history of the space pilots from the Chinese empire that were on this famous mission starting with the most famous one.
Husband: Mo Liang. Spouse: Jun Meilin
Children: Mo Mingzhu{Little general}
Other children: Mo Hao {National space baby}
Other spouse: Tang Yue.
Yes I say spouse because he married her in space and a priest from the American empire officiated the unofficial ceremony.
When humans meet alien women some day in the future, this history might need another update because polygamy could be back in fashion. If it is not polygamy, then it is bigamy and our most famous space pilot is a criminal: the most scoundrelous kind.]
Below the post was a picture of the wedding. It was not just a picture but the peep star shared at thirty second video of the couple saying their vows. Tang Yue’s stomach was showing, there was no denying that she was pregnant.
Everyone’s phone went off at the same time and they all received the same notification which was the peep star’s latest post. On seeing it, Mei Mei’s heart pounded, she gripped the edges of the lectern even harder. She had taken the strength serum which the system had given to her so she ended up cracking it.
Not only had Mo Liang had an affair but he had gone as far as to marry Tang Yue!! What stung even more was that he had recited the very vows she had written for him on the day they got married, vows she had made to him. He did not even have the slightest respect for her.
"Host, you cannot falter." C4 shouted in her mind.
The system even sent a jot through her body which Mei Mei endured with gritted teeth. It helped her calm down, and she took a slow breath. Sharpening a smile, she looked out at the crowd.
Meeting their eyes of pity and shock with her sharp ones, she smiled and said, "Well, what an opening, am I right?"
