Chapter 96: I could kill a baby bear.

Song ShengSheng was a very overtly bold person, in addition to having a bubbly personality. She was the kind of person that touched someone’s arm when engaged in conversation.

She would invite herself to events without being asked, if she found two colleagues in a private conversation and she had an opinion to share, she was not shy about joining in, uninvited.

Some people would describe her character as presumptuous.

Immediately after asking Jingzhe if he would join them, Shengsheng tried to touch him. Jingzhe jumped backwards as if he had been startled by a snake and he hid behind Mei Mei’s back. He glared at Song Shengsheng as if he was wanted to take her head off her shoulders.

Song Shengsheng was was surprised. She did not think that Jingzhe would react in such a way, avoiding her as if she had a hidden disease. What was worse was the way he was looking at her, it made her uncomfortable. And yet, she still ignored common sense and smiled again. "Assistant Mo...."

"Song Shengsheng, you are about to be left behind." Mei Mei cut in, pointing at the rest of the employees that were leaving.

Song Shengsheng looked at her colleagues and she turned her reluctant eyes back to Jingzhe. "But.."

"Goodnight Miss Song Shengsheng." Mei Mei said in a stiff voice.

Her usually smiling face was devoid of a smile, and that too made Song Shengsheng uncomfortable. She managed a small smile, waved and left.

Jingzhe came out of hiding after she left, patting his chest in relief. "She doesn’t know how to take no for an answer." he complained.

Mei Mei smiled, teasing him with her eyes, "Aiyoo...our A Zhe, does a girl have a crush on you? Does she want to hold your hand and play a game of truth or dare which ends in kissing?" She sharpened her mouth and made kissing noise.

Jingzhe rolled his eyes.

"Did you just roll your eyes at me?" she asked, laughing lightly.

"Yes," he admitted, "Mingzhu taught me well and while we are on the subject of our daughter. I thought that you might like to know that Mrs. Sun called me. Mo Liang is in the hospital and he wants you to take Mingzhu to visit him."

Mei Mei scoffed derisively. "Now why would I do such a foolish thing? I didn’t tell him to swear and be struck by lightning. Neither did Mingzhu. Visiting him will not change a thing. Although, I might pass by the hospital to see him tomorrow."

Jingzhe’s face tensed up and his breathing became uneasy. "Why? Sister, you are not thinking of forgiving him are you?"

"That is a hard no." She patted his arm to relax him. "The divorce papers are ready, I am considering serving them in person. Maybe he might sign them immediately and save us both the headache, who knows?"

Jingzhe suddenly grasped her arms and looked into her eyes. "Sister, I hate myself for asking this but are you certain that you will never turn back? Right now, you are angry and hate him but what if one day you wake up...."

"That day will never come. I, Jun Meilin, never look back when I decide on something. It is how I ended up marrying that scum, I made my mind up and there was no changing it. Now that I have changed my mind about him, that Chapter is closed." Her love and hate were equal in measure.

Once upon a time she loved Mo Liang with all her heart and now, she hated him with a passion much hotter than the love she once had for him.

Her calm resolute voice calmed Mo Jingzhe. "In that case, can I make a reservation?"

Mei Mei was intrigued. "A reservation..."

Mo Jingzhe nodded. He clenched his hands because this was not how he had intended to announce his intentions but his mother had cautioned him. If he continued to move at a snails pace, another would come along and steal her away.

Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes as he did not want to see the look in her eyes when she probably let him down. "Mei Mei, I like you. After you get a divorce, I would like to chase you, officially. My heart beats for you like a drum in a marching band that has no rhythm."

Mei Mei giggled.

"Whenever you smile, I forget how to talk and walk. I could kill a bear for you...a small bear...baby bear." Jingzhe said in a louder voice. It was his first time confessing love to a woman and he was just blurting out what a friend of his had once written in a letter to his crush.

Everything he ever dreamed of saying to her in a confession of love had evaporated from his mind so he was making things up as he went.

"I think you are cool and..."

Mei Mei’s giggle turned into full-blown laughter.

Mo Jingzhe opened one eye slowly and peeked at her. She was smiling, laughing...more like and that was a good sign. If she was laughing, she was not saying no.

"How are you a genius and silly yet adorable at the same time?" She asked him.

"Is that a yes?" he asked.

Mei Mei shrugged. "It is not a no, we will have to see if we get along."

Jingzhe fist-pumped the air. "Yes." After his victory celebration, he looked into her eyes and said, "You cannot accept other reservations, Mei Mei, there can only be me. I am willing to wait for as long as it takes for you to see me but you can only have me in your eyes."

She nodded, grinning widely. Jingzhe was so excited that he took her hand and pulled her out of the building, running out as if they had somewhere urgent to be.

"Mom, mom...." he shouted eagerly. "Its a yes."

The children were waiting for them by the car, along with Feng Qi, Rose and her husband. Only Feng Qi understood what Jingzhe meant by what he said.

"We are going out for dinner to celebrate." Feng Qi shared.

As the cars flew them to a rooftop restaurant, chasing the setting sun, Mei Mei was looking at her virtual screen.

"Like I said, you are the luckiest system host in the world. Your tasks are like breathing to earn money, simple and easy." C4 reminded her. "On the other hand, how does that man have an IQ of two hundred hundred twenty nine and the best confession he can come up with is I will kill a baby bear for you?"

"I thought it was cute." she replied.

Meanwhile, unknown to those that had gone out for dinner, Mrs. Sun was determined to see to it that Mei Mei obediently followed her to the hospital to take care of her son and she was waiting for her near the gate of her house.
