Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'-Chapter 282: Answering with Actions
Chapter 282: Answering with Actions
All the executives in the video conference were frozen in place.
Did Mrs. Reid just say... Mr. Reid isn’t performing well? And needs to see a doctor?!
Did they accidentally overhear a top secret?! Are they going to get silenced now?!
The situation was so shocking that Jack immediately initiated a remote shutdown and force-closed the video conference.
Logan watched the screen go black, then let out a low chuckle.
He reached out, lightly tilting Selina’s chin up, his voice smooth and calm:
"Mrs. Reid, what did you just say? Repeat it."
Selina shivered, feeling like she’d just been locked onto by a starving wolf.
"I—I meant..."
"You’re doubting my ability?" Logan interrupted, calmly scanning her up and down.
"So, Mrs. Reid... came running to me... to personally check if I’m still capable?"
"..."
Technically, that was true—but why did it sound so wrong coming from him?
Logan’s tone grew more amused:
"Tell me, Mrs. Reid, why would your mind even go there?"
Selina clenched her jaw so tightly it almost cracked.
How was she supposed to explain that?!
Seeing her stay silent, Logan chuckled low in his throat:
"Is it because I asked you to get out of my lap?"
At that, Selina’s face turned scarlet.
"W-well yeah! I mean, look at me! I’m gorgeous! If you didn’t react at all, of course something must be wrong!"
Logan couldn’t hold back a short laugh, a trace of wickedness flashing in his eyes. novelbuddy.cσ๓
"Oh? Mrs. Reid is very confident."
Selina huffed silently. Wasn’t she right though?
She looked this good—any normal man would have had some kind of reaction!
Logan’s voice dropped, slow and teasing:
"Actually, Mrs. Reid, it’s not that I wasn’t affected by you."
He paused, letting his words sink in.
"Aren’t you curious why I asked you to get off me?"
Before Selina could answer, Logan continued leisurely:
"Because I was in the middle of a video conference."
Selina’s entire body stiffened.
He paused, watching her face turn even redder.
"There were five senior executives, plus Jack—six people total. All of them saw you cuddling in my lap."
"And Mrs. Reid was only wearing a bathrobe. I didn’t want anyone else to see you like that—so I asked you to leave while I shut down the meeting. But..."
Logan’s voice dropped even lower, full of hidden meaning:
"It seems Mrs. Reid didn’t mind being seen?"
Selina felt like she was about to explode from pure embarrassment.
He was in the middle of a conference!!
And she had been sitting in his lap, acting all flirty, in full view of everyone?!
And that wasn’t even the worst part—she even accused him of being "not functional" right in front of them!
A wave of mortification washed over her.
Selina wished she could dig a hole and disappear.
"Alright," Logan said slowly, his voice laced with dangerous amusement.
"Now, let’s talk about this... little misunderstanding you have about my abilities."
Thinking about the messages she sent Rowan, Logan’s smirk deepened.
"You were so sure I was ’not functional’... yet you still tried to seduce me?"
Selina dropped her head miserably.
What even was today...?!
First, Logan wouldn’t let her sleep in the master bedroom.
Then, his subordinates saw her acting like a lovestruck fool.
And now he was teasing her to death.
The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt.
And the worst part?
All of it started because he insisted on separating rooms!
Selina snapped her head up, ready to fight back, but before she could even open her mouth, Logan reached out and grabbed her jaw.
His palm pressed gently but firmly, forcing her lips to part.
"What are you—mmph—"
The taste of him overwhelmed her senses.
Mature and intoxicating, Logan’s kiss was full of control and dominance—deep, claiming, and unstoppable.
Selina tried to resist, but her whole body shuddered from the force of it, her very soul trembling.
Logan’s hand on her waist tightened, pulling her even closer.
He could feel her trembling against him, her body softening, instinctively leaning into his arms.
After the kiss ended, Selina’s eyes were misty, the corners tinged red.
She tried to sound angry but couldn’t pull it off—instead, her voice came out a little spoiled and whiny:
"What are you doing?!"
Logan gently patted her back.
Maybe he had scared the little troublemaker.
Talking about separate rooms out of nowhere—she must have been genuinely afraid.
He hadn’t really intended to stay mad anyway. His voice, lazy and soothing, sounded again:
"Why are you so set on sleeping in the master bedroom?"
Selina, still dazed from the kiss, answered without thinking:
"...Because we’re husband and wife."
Isn’t it natural for a married couple to sleep together?
Logan paused for a long moment—then suddenly smiled.
Her answer clearly pleased him.
"Even if you hadn’t come looking for me, I would have had you move back tonight."
He had thought she didn’t understand the concept of marriage at all.
Turns out he was wrong.
Logan scooped her up and carried her back to the master bedroom.
"It’s late. Time to rest."
Selina glanced at her phone in disbelief—It was only 8:30 PM.
"It’s still early!" she protested.
Logan gave her a meaningful look:
"Not early, Mrs. Reid. You have classes tomorrow. Staying up too late isn’t good."
8:30 bedtime?
Was he planning to put her on an old man’s schedule?!
She barely had time to argue before a gentle, burning kiss stole her breath away again.
Several hours later, Selina watched the clock tick past midnight before she finally drifted off, exhausted.
Yeah... starting at 8:30 did end up feeling a little late.
The next morning, Selina woke up sore all over.
It was already 10:00 AM.
Luckily her class wasn’t until the afternoon—otherwise she wouldn’t even know how to explain asking for leave.
She glanced at her phone and saw an unread message.
It was from Rowan.
[I heard you went to pick up the wedding rings yesterday, but not with Logan. I think the reason he was upset—no, not upset, rather—is because he cares. He wanted to share those important moments with you.]
Selina blinked, stunned.
Suddenly, everything about Logan’s behavior yesterday made sense.
So that’s what it was...
She hurriedly put down her phone.
"Miller Butler, where’s Logan?"
"Mr. Reid has already gone to the office. Do you need to see him, Madam?"
"Yes, I’m going to the company."
Miller Butler immediately arranged a car.
"Right away, Madam. I’ll have someone drive you."
Half an hour later, they arrived at the base of the Reid Group tower.
Jack came down personally to escort her, and soon Selina was face-to-face with Logan.
He had just finished a meeting and returned to his office, having removed his suit jacket.
He was down to a fitted black dress shirt and tailored pants that showed off his long legs. His presence was commanding and sharp.
Selina didn’t waste time—she got straight to the point, putting on a serious face:
"Mr. Reid, would you mind... putting my wedding ring on for me?"
Logan’s gaze warmed.
He lifted her hand, placed a kiss on her knuckles, and murmured:
"My pleasure."
It seemed all his careful guiding hadn’t been in vain.
Yes—very satisfying.
Selina stayed at the Reid Group to have lunch with Logan.
Her class was at 2 PM, so she planned to rest for a bit before heading out.
But just as she stepped out of the office, she overheard someone saying:
"Mr. Reid, Miss Nelson has arrived."
Miss Nelson?
Selina immediately caught on.
Riley?
"She’s here to discuss the project on behalf of President Nelson. Apparently, President Nelson already mentioned it to you."
The staff at the executive office instantly perked up, all ears.
Riley Nelson... wasn’t she the one rumored to have had a thing with Mr. Reid?
And now—with the real Mrs. Reid present—the rumored ex was here too...
