Married For Now-Chapter 170: DOUBLE BUNDLE?
Chapter 170: DOUBLE BUNDLE?
"SOHEE-YA, my husband and I decided to accept the help you offered regarding our Gunjoon’s education."
Oh.
Sohee should have known that his mother wanted to talk to him only because of Go Gunjoon.
It wasn’t like he had any expectations that his mother wanted to check on him.
But, for some reason, he still felt a bit disappointed.
I’ve become more emotional since I got pregnant.
Anyway, Sohee and her mother were at the hospital’s café.
Of course, they weren’t completely alone.
Kim Heedo and my secret bodyguards are nearby.
"Personally, I didn’t want to accept your help because I know very well that I don’t deserve your kindness and generosity. My husband also feels the same way," his mother said carefully. "However, Go Gunjoon did his best to convince us that accepting your help is the right choice. We gave in when he showed us the sheet that he made. He listed down all the kinds of help that he received from you, and he also made a plan on how to repay you for everything."
Sohee smiled faintly after hearing that.
The kid is really adamant about paying us back, huh?
He liked how responsible Go Gunjoon was.
"When we saw how desperate our son was, we decided to trust his decision," his mother continued. "We know that he wasn’t being insistent just because he wanted an easy life— he wanted to accept your offer because he wanted to succeed in life. My son acknowledged that in order to achieve all his dreams, he needed to grab the hand that you extended to him."
That made sense.
If I were Go Gunjoon’s parents, I would be convinced as well.
"Let me just ask you a question, Sohee-ya."
"What is it, ma’am?"
"Do you really not have a hidden agenda for helping my son?"
"If you think I’m doing this to get my revenge on you, then you’re wrong, ma’am," Sohee said while shaking his head. "I wanted to help Go Gunjoon because I see my old self in him. When I was struggling, a miracle that was Kim Heedo came into my life. I was lucky enough to be married to someone like him. I wanted to share the blessing that I have with my half-brother. After all, I don’t want to see him suffer when I could give him a better life."
Oops.
He didn’t mean to say that much.
And he also didn’t mean to sound bitter.
I crossed the line.
"I’m sorry," Sohee said, embarrassed by his arrogance. "I’m not saying that you and your husband can’t give Go Gunjoon a comfortable life, ma’am. It’s just that I can see Go Gunjoon’s potential to be more successful if we nurture him properly. All I’m offering him is an opportunity. He still needs to work hard to succeed, and I’m sure he can do that well. After all, I can tell that you raised him well."
It was his mother’s turn to smile faintly.
"You’re really a good person, Sohee-ya."
"I’m really not that good of a person."
"You’re a better person than me, though."
"That’s true, ma’am."
His mother just chuckled while shaking her head gently.
Oh.
Seeing his mother’s smiling face reminded Sohee of the few happy moments that he had with her.
Why do I suddenly miss her when I’m already used to not having a mother in my life?
Especially not the mother who abandoned him after finding out about his Secondary Gender.
Speaking about that...
"Congratulations, ma’am," Sohee said, smiling. He didn’t care anymore whether he sounded bitter or not. "Go Gunjoon manifested as an Alpha. You won’t suffer the way you would have if had you decided to take me, an Omega, with you."
It looked like he had been too harsh with his words because pain crossed his eyes his mother’s eyes.
However, no apology was handed out.
And it wasn’t like Sohee wanted one in the first place.
This is it— this is the extent of my relationship with this person.
***
SOHEE couldn’t sleep that night.
After his conversation with his mother, he suddenly felt tired. Hence, he asked Kim Heedo to go home after he checked on Go Gunjoon’s condition.
He offered to take Lim Garam and Baby Gunwoo home, but there was no need for that.
After all, Garam Hyung-nim has his driver and bodyguards with him.
Anyway, he fell asleep after his early dinner.
And now, at almost 3am, he was wide awake.
I want ice cream.
Sohee knew that the refrigerator in his in-laws’ house was complete with everything he might need or want.
But he was too lazy to move.
Hence, he grabbed his phone and sent a message to Kim Heedo.
I want mint chocolate ice cream.
He could have called, but he was really hesitant about disturbing his husband’s sleep. So, he just sent a message.
I won’t get upset if he doesn’t see my message.
Sohee also told himself that he would get up and grab the ice cream himself if Kim Heedo if his husband didn’t reply in a minute.
But he didn’t have to worry about that.
Kim Heedo read the message.
His husband didn’t reply.
But a few moments later, someone knocked on the door softly.
Sohee immediately got up and leaned against the headboard. "Come in, Heedo-ya."
The door open slowly, and then Kim Heedo’s handsome face greeted Sohee.
I hope my baby inherits his father’s good looks.
"Hyung, we only have this brand of ice cream here," Kim Heedo said while carefully closing the door behind him. "Is this alright with you?"
Aigoo.
Kim Heedo had a fancy breakfast tray in his hands, and a fancy-looking tub of ice cream was on it. Of course, it also came with a fancy spoon.
I can’t read the label.
"I’ve never heard of that ice cream brand before, but as long as it’s mint chocolate, I’ll have it."
"The twins like mint chocolate ice cream, so we don’t run out of it in this household," Kim Heedo while sitting on the edge of the bed. And then he carefully arranged the breakfast tray so Sohee could eat comfortably. "Is there anything else that you want, Hyung?"
Sohee shook his head. "Nah, I’m already satisfied with this."
"Alright."
And then Kim Heedo opened the lid of the tub before handing the spoon to Sohee.
Aww.
He’s taking care of me well even though he doesn’t remember anything about me.
"Thank you," Sohee said, and then he took a spoonful of the ice cream he was craving. "Wow."
He wasn’t exaggerating with his reaction.
"This is the best ice cream I’ve had yet," Sohee said, impressed. "I think I’m in love."
He then continued eating the ice cream with more gusto this time.
"Slow down, Hyung. No one’s going to steal your ice cream," Kim Heedo scolded him lightly, pausing for a moment. "I’m already worried about you getting a stomachache for eating ice cream at this hour, Hyung. If Eomma finds out about this tomorrow, she’ll scold me."
"Don’t worry, Heedo-ya. I’ll protect you from Mother-in-law. I’m the one who asked you to get me ice cream anyway."
"As if I’d let you do that, Hyung."
"Then stop complaining?"
Kim Heedo opened his mouth to complain, but he immediately closed it when no words came out.
Pfft.
It’s so fun teasing him.
But Sohee felt bad for teasing his amnesiac husband, so he quickly changed the topic.
"Heedo-ya."
"Yes, Hyung?"
"What will you do if our child turns out to be an Omega in the future?" Sohee asked carefully. Actually, he was pretty nervous. Even so, he tried to hide it by pretending that the tub of ice cream was very interesting. "You’re a Dominant Alpha, and I’m a Dominant Omega. I heard that Dominant Omegas often have Omegas for a child. That’s why most Alphas don’t take a Dominant Omega as their partners."
To be honest, there were so many things that were yet to be understood about Omegas.
That included their genetics.
So, sometimes, even doctors can’t predict a child’s Secondary Gender just based on their parents.
"What does it matter if our child turns out to be an Omega in the future?"
Sohee lifted his head and immediately looked at Kim Heedo’s face to check if he was being sincere or not.
And, yes, his husband was serious.
Heedo doesn’t say things he doesn’t mean when it comes to serious stuff, after all.
"It’s easier to have an Alpha child than an Omega. Heck, even having a Beta child will be easier than having an Omega one," Sohee said. Of course, saying those things hurt him. But he continued because he wanted to gauge Kim Heedo’s reaction. "I would know because I’m an Omega."
"Hyung, I just want our child to be born healthy," Kim Heedo said. He may have said it casually, but it was obvious that he was being sincere. "If our child turns out to be an Omega, then I’ll give them extra love and care."
Pfft.
That answer may have sounded simple and a bit childish.
But Sohee still appreciated it.
Actually, he was relieved.
"Hyung, I won’t pretend that I understand your fears as an Omega because I was born an Alpha," Kim Heedo said carefully. "To be honest, I haven’t wrapped my head around the idea that I’m going to be a father soon. However, I could change the world to make it safer for Omegas if I have to."
Aww.
That was one of the sweetest things that Sohee had heard in his life.
"Hyung!" Kim Heedo called him in a panic, his eyes widening a bit. "Why are you crying?"
Yes, Sohee cried like a baby that night.
It’s the hormones, okay?
***
KIM HEEDO remembered tucking Park Sohee in bed after his husband fell asleep from crying.
But he didn’t remember being in a palace— a golden palace, at that.
This is obviously a dream.
Heedo was about to slap his cheeks in an attempt to wake himself up.
But he got distracted when he saw two golden geese, each pulling a golden cart...
... and each cart had a baby in it.
"Oh, babies," Heedo said, tilting his head to one side. "Is this a daycare or something?"
