Chapter 176: A CRACK?

"HYUNG-NIM, you don’t look good. Shouldn’t you go home and rest?"

Sohee heard Go Gunjoon, and he could tell that his half-brother was concerned about him.

However, he was still out of it.

Even though he spent the whole day pretending that he was fine, he still couldn’t help but worry about Jung Byeol’s message.

I tried calling Heedo, but he’s not picking up.

Then Sohee called Shin Kang since he was informed that Shin Kang had returned to work.

"The Young Master was summoned by Shaman Jung-nim. We’re currently at the temple, Park Sohee-nim. Should I let the young master know that you called?"

"Yes, please. Tell him that I’m still at the hospital with my friends."

"I understand, sir."

"Thank you."

And that was how their conversation ended.

Since Sohee didn’t have anything else to do that day, so he stayed with Go Gunjoon and accompanied his half-brother in his orientation.

He had already sent Cho Euntak and Ahn Yujae home earlier.

Kim Heedo isn’t here anyway, so our plan to make him jealous is useless now.

Anyway, Sohee decided to flex a bit by buying all the medicines Go Gunjoon would need.

Since it’s a private hospital, the medicines are more expensive than in other places.

"Hyung-nim, those medicines are expensive," Go Gunjoon said worriedly. "Hyung-nim, I’m sorry to ask this, but are you using your husband’s money?"

"I’m using my in-law’s money," Sohee said. It was something he wasn’t ashamed to admit. "They give me monthly allowance."

"Is it okay with them that you’re spending their money on me?"

"Go Gunjoon, you know who my in-laws are, right?"

"Oh. I see," Go Gunjoon said while nodding his head as if he had just realized something. "Your allowance won’t put a dent in their wealth."

"That and because they care about my family," Sohee said, smiling. "Don’t worry about the money I spend on you, dude. I’m doing this because I want to do something for you as your older brother."

When he noticed that Go Gunjoon still looked serious, he joked around.

"And you said you’re going to pay me back, didn’t you?"

Finally, Go Gunjoon’s face lit up. "I will pay you back once I become an adult, Hyung-nim."

"Good."

Sohee thought he should extend his stay with Go Gunjoon.

But he got a message from his mother-in-law, asking him to go home early.

The tone of the text sounded urgent.

Did something happen?

HAAAH.

Hong Sera could only sigh while reading the long messages that Han Raehyun had been sending her these days. Even though they had already broken up, he would still send her long messages that read like desperate pleas.

Ryung Sungbin was desperate.

Asking for her forgiveness.

Reflecting on his mistakes.

Begging her to give him one more chance.

"... I’ve cut off Jin Minki from my life."

Hong Sera’s heart only hurt even more after reading that part of Han Raehyun’s message.

Admittedly, there was a time when she was hoping her (now ex) boyfriend would cut off Jin Minki from his life even without her telling him to do so.

But that never happened.

I guess you’re too late, Han Raehyun.

"Young lady, we’re here."

Oh.

Hong Sera’s idle thoughts were interrupted when her female bodyguard-slash-driver opened the door of the car for her.

She thanked her after getting out of the car.

While walking in the garden leading to their mansion, she couldn’t help but think of the things that she needed to do.

I need to keep myself busy so I wouldn’t think about Han Raehyun.

The first thing that entered Hong Sera’s mind was the webcomics that she would be making with Park Sohee and Cho Euntak.

Sohee Oppa is pregnant, but he said he wanted to start working on our project next semester since he’d be filing a leave of absence by then. Cho Euntak said he’s thinking of taking a break, too.

She wondered if she should take a leave of absence as well.

Seeing Han Raehyun at school only gives me stress these days.

Her ex-boyfriend couldn’t come near her because of her bodyguard, but seeing him still hurt her heart so bad.

Yes, I should take a break.

"Sera-ya, you’re late."

Hmm?

Hong Sera was surprised when both Hong Seojun and Hong Seokho greeted her as soon as she entered the mansion.

It was a surprise since she wasn’t late.

In fact, it was her brothers who shouldn’t be at home at that time yet.

Even my sisters-in-law aren’t here.

"What’s wrong, Oppas?" Hong Sera asked worriedly. "Why are you looking like you’re relieved that I got home safely?"

Her brothers flinched at what she said.

Oh, I hit the bull’s eye.

"What’s going on?" Hong Sera asked worriedly. "Did someone threaten our family again?"

Hong Seokho turned to their eldest siblings.

Then Hong Seojun sighed before spilling the beans. "Song Sihyuk had lost his mind."

"Oppa, Sihyuk Oppa has always been like that."

"Right? But it’s different this time," Hong Seokho said, clicking his tongue. "That lunatic picked a fight with our family directly."

Hong Sera knitted her eyebrows, confused and a little scared. "What did Sihyuk Oppa do to our family?"

"That crazy bastard attacked the place where we were keeping Sanha and Lee Junsu locked up," Hong Seojun said, sighing while shaking his head. "He personally kidnapped the two."

Oh, no.

SOHEE GOT home safely that night.

When he got home, dinner was already prepared.

But not all the family members were there.

Heedo isn’t home yet.

His father-in-law was still at work, while the Kim Twins were still at the academy.

Hence, Sohee’s dinner companion was his mother-in-law.

"I talked to Mr. Shin earlier, and he said they’re on their way home," President Kang Nari said while they were in the middle of a meal. Of course, his mother-in-law made sure that there wasn’t any kind of chicken dish on the table. "Apparently, Heedo has fallen asleep in the car. So, please don’t worry if my son isn’t responding to your messages."

Oh.

To be honest, he was glad that his mother-in-law said that.

I was starting to think that he was ignoring me.

"Thank you for saying that, Mother-in-law," Sohee said politely. "But I’m sure it’s not the only reason why you asked me to get home early."

"Are you already full? I don’t want you to lose your appetite."

Oh.

My mother-in-law is really considerate.

"I’m okay, Mother-in-law," Sohee assured her. "Please feel free to tell me what you want to say. I’ll tell you if I start to feel unwell."

President Kim Nari laughed softly while shaking her head, and then he finally spilled the beans. "I asked Kang Sul how you wanted to deal with your father. Is it true that you want to send your father in a deep-sea fishing boat?" ƒrēenovelkiss.com

Oh, right.

He remembered that after his father attacked Kim Heedo, he asked Kang Sul— the one who replaced Shin Kang temporarily— to send his father to a deep-sea fishing boat. It usually meant that the person being sent there wouldn’t be able to return to Korea anymore.

And that’s exactly what I want to happen.

But...

"Is it impossible, Mother-in-law?" Sohee asked nervously. "If my request is impossible, then I’ll let you decide how he should be punished."

That was only right since Kim Heedo was hurt by his father.

And Kim Heedo is my mother-in-law’s oldest son.

So, he would totally understand if President Kang Nari wanted to punish his father, too.

"No, it’s not like that," his mother-in-law said while shaking his head. "I’m actually thinking that your punishment to your father is too light."

"It’s light?" Sohee asked, confused. "But being sent to a deep-fishing boat usually means being exiled. Even if my father tries to escape, he won’t have anywhere to go to."

"Sohee-ya, if it were up to me or my husband, your father would have been long gone."

Oh.

"We usually don’t resort to that, but your father is the type of person who’ll only stop once he’s dead."

Right.

Sohee could only nod because he agreed with everything his mother-in-law said.

I’ve always known my in-laws aren’t innocent people, but I hope they only abuse their power on people who deserve them.

Having said that, he still felt safe in that family.

"Sohee-ya, when your father heard that he would be sent to a deep-sea fishing boat, he made a request," President Kang Nari said carefully. "Apparently, your father wants to see your mother one last time."

Sohee knitted his eyebrows, confused and annoyed.

Why does that scumbag suddenly want to see my mother?

***

SOHEE was about to go to the bedroom after talking to his mother-in-law, but his plan was interrupted when he got a call from Lim Garam.

It was a call that he didn’t want to miss.

And he was glad that he picked it up.

"Sohee-ya, I’m sorry to ask you this because of your condition, but can you go to my house right now?"

Sohee knitted his eyebrows. "What’s wrong Hyung-nim?"

"Your husband is here."

What was Kim Heedo doing at Lim Garam’s house at that hour?!
