Chapter 160: A message from Denis

When Augustine rose over her, she gasped, breathless. "You will ruin me." She smiled.

"I want to ruin you," he said hoarsely, aligning himself with her. "So I can put you back together. Again and again."

When he entered her, it was slow, deep, achingly intimate. He moved within her like he belonged there. Each thrust sent sparks dancing behind her eyes. When he knew she was close, he pulled back.

Anne looked at him with confusion. Before she could articulate her thoughts, he grabbed her hips, flipped her onto her stomach, and leaned in, his breath hot against her ear.

"You drive me mad every time," he whispered. "And now I’m going to show you what that means."

He pulled her up onto her knees and pushed inside her from behind with a fierce, deep thrust that made her cry out. He didn’t wait. He set a punishing rhythm, every movement hard and demanding. One hand gripped her hip while the other slid around to stroke her, pushing her toward the edge again.

She buried her face in the sheets, gasping, moaning, overwhelmed.

"Anne, you can only be mine," he said, voice wild and low. "Say it."

"I’m only yours," she sobbed.

He drove into her deeper, faster. Her body clenched, the tension building with every breath until it shattered. She came again, trembling beneath him.

He followed with a deep, raw groan, collapsing over her, kissing her shoulder, her back, wherever his lips could reach.

Afterward, he held her close, her head on his chest, their bodies tangled in quiet satisfaction.

She was still trembling in his arms, her breathing shallow and rapid.

"Did I hurt you?" he asked softly.

She shook her head. "I’ve never felt more alive," she said softly.

He kissed her hair, a contented smile spreading across his face.

As they drifted into sleep, neither noticed the soft buzz of Augustine’s phone across the room.

A single notification blinked on the screen.

Denis: ’We need to talk. It’s about Anne.’

The next morning ...

Augustine stirred awake, his eyes adjusting slowly to the morning light seeping through the curtains. Beside him was Anne, curled up beneath the blanket, one arm tucked under her cheek, her lips slightly parted in sleep.

He couldn’t help the warmth that surged through his chest as he watched her. Leaning closer, he brushed a kiss against her brow, making sure his movements didn’t break the serenity of the moment. She stirred a bit but didn’t wake.

Carefully, Augustine pushed the blanket aside and climbed out of bed. He reached for his phone on the side table and padded across the room, easing open the balcony door.

The chill of the early morning air wrapped around him instantly. He drew in a deep breath and stretched his arms wide, letting the tension roll off his shoulders. The sky before him was painted in brilliant strokes of orange and pink, the sun inching over the horizon.

He stood there for a moment, soaking in the peace. Then his gaze dropped to the phone in his hand.

’We need to talk. It’s about Anne.’ This message from Denis came to his vision.

His brow furrowed, the calmness of his heart fading. Of all people, Denis was the last name he wanted to see on his phone this early in the morning.

"What does he want?" A sense of unease crept into his chest.

After a beat of hesitation, he tapped the call button.

The line barely rang twice.

"You finally know how to call me," came Denis’s voice.

"What was that message for?" Augustine asked gruffly with irritation.

"Let’s meet. At the nightclub."

Augustine didn’t respond right away. He didn’t trust Denis, but curiosity mingled with concern. ’What was he planning now?’

"Cool," Augustine said curtly.

Just as he was about to hang up, Denis added quickly, "By the way, the party venue is almost ready. Why don’t you ask Anne to go have a look? She should have a say in the decoration, don’t you think? It’s her big day too."

Augustine paused. He would be buried in meetings all day and wouldn’t be able to accompany her, but Anne might want to see how things were coming along.

"I’ll pass the information to her," he replied, voice clipped.

Without waiting for another word, he ended the call and stood silently, staring into the distance. Something about Denis’s tone unsettled him.

"Who were you talking to?" came Anne’s soft, groggy voice from behind.

Startled, Augustine turned around to see her standing at the threshold of the balcony door, her hair tousled from sleep, eyes half-lidded, a wide yawn escaping her lips. She looked adorably disheveled, wrapped in the oversized shirt he had thrown away the night before.

The tension that had clouded his features moments ago melted away in an instant. Amusement danced in his eyes as he watched her pad barefoot toward him, blinking against the morning sun.

"No one," he said smoothly, slipping his arms around her waist. "Just taking in the morning. It’s even more beautiful now that you are here."

Anne lazily nestled against his chest, her limbs still heavy with sleep. "Mmm... my whole body is aching," she mumbled, pouting against him. "It’s your fault. You are insatiable... like a beast."

Augustine chuckled, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "That beast happens to be very proud of himself," he teased. "Why don’t you go back to bed for a little while?"

"I can’t," she sighed. "I don’t want to be late for work. My boss is strict."

"Hmm, is he?" he murmured playfully, trailing his fingers up her spine. "Well, luckily for you, I know the guy. And he is in a generous mood today. You can take a day off."

Anne lifted her face to him, eyes curious and amused. "Are you serious?"

"I am," he said softly, brushing his thumb along her cheek. "I’ll be at the Sphere Group the whole day. It’s going to be a packed schedule. So why not use the time for yourself? Pamper a little. Call your friend. Go to the spa. Get ready for your big day."

She smiled, excited.

"The venue is nearly finished," he continued. "If you feel like it, you could drop by and see how it’s coming along. Might be a good time to make sure it reflects your taste too."

"Okay, I’ll call Audrey and drag her with me."

Knowing she’d be with Audrey gave him peace of mind. He cupped her cheek. "Enjoy yourself. Make the most of today." He leaned down and kissed her brow.
