Chapter 74 - SCREEECH!: On The Other End...

Amidst the wailing cries of Cercis, Duncan and Goblina buried Durmast in a makeshift grave, promising that everyone would sorely miss him. "Once everything is over, we'll give the grandest of funerals. A funeral that would rival that of the kings of the past..."

Wiping off the tears from her face, Goblina smiled a broken smile. "Yeah, let's give him the grandest send-off possible. We'll-we'll have booze flowing down the streets, exotic dancers dancing on the stage, the wh-whole package itself..."

Just then, they felt their tired bodies filled with energy once more, the shackles once binding them broken asunder.

Without hesitation, they both sat in their meditative positions, for they knew that they were ascending into a brand new tier...

Their bodies slightly glowed as they began ascending higher. Just as Duncan was about to close his eye to better focus on controlling the energy, he caught a glimpse of a fair Elfin maiden sitting right beside him...

Brrrrrr...

Swinging his chainsword for the umpteenth time, Titus frowned at the carnage laid before him.

Separated from the group, he hunted alone, for he was no weakling. While the others held themselves back in the rear lines, he was at the forefront, dealing with the stronger creatures that no one else could. After decapitating the 30th or 50th tier-5 monster, he began frowning. This is not normal...Why on Terra have the beasts from the Hymalas Mountains come here!? I believed that there was a Treaty to enforce that those above tier-6 cannot interfere in any way against what is happening on the continent.

Shaking his head, he focused on fighting against the numerous foes heading his way, especially the Urks. These bastards multiply like crazy...

Ensuring that none of the stronger monsters escaped, Titus made his way further into the centre of it all:

The Citadel of Mithras

Although he expected them to head towards the Guild or the City Lord's mansion, he nevertheless put these doubts at the back of his mind as he dashed towards the dungeon, to ensure that it did not create a Dungeon Break.

Upon seeing that the Dungeon was under assault, but still very much intact, he released a sigh of relief. Without any hesitation, he revved up his chainsword, launching into the defence alongside the very few higher-tier Adventurers.

With each rev, Skeleman Great Knights, Urk Warlords, and Wabbit Captains fell by the masses. Just as the perimeter was about to be secured, the Tower began collapsing.

Amidst the panicking crowd, Titus remained calm, for he knew any form of chaos would further aggravate the situation, causing further casualties among the civilians and Adventurers.

"MOVE EVERYONE! MOVE OUT OF WHERE THE SHADOW SEEMS TO BE GROWING BIGGER!"

Knowing that in this situation people would tend to listen to simpler orders, he dumbed down his orders as much as possible. It also helped that the ensuing chaos shielded his existence, for he knew that even with the numerous leather armours he wore, it was still possible for people to recognise what he was.

Clank, Clink, Whirr...

Hearing the unexpected noise coming from the bottom of the newly formed gaping hole, Titus could not help but widen his eyes. As the clanking got louder and louder, he saw the first mechanical claw grab hold of the ledge. Dragging itself up, it showed its full glory to the world, its four steel pincer-like legs stabilising it on the rough ground.

Titus on the other hand, could not believe what it was.

How on Holy Terra are the Technopriests of Mekanicum here!?
