Chapter 54 - 54 – Quick Lesson! How to Cure Trauma

"Your trauma will prevail if you are stuck with it forever. Try fighting. Only then will you get over it."

While talking to her, Cain approached the Orcs, raising his shield. The monsters growled as their eyes turned bloodshot red.

The nearest Orc charged, barreling towards Cain and slamming into him full force. Unfortunately, its thick skull met his sturdy shield, causing the monster to stumble backwards as Cain absorbed the impact and shrugged it off nonchalantly.

"Move aside, young man." Azazel ordered, prompting Cain to step aside and let the fallen angel handle the situation.

"Just incapacitate them."

Grinning broadly, Azazel took off like an arrow loose from a bowstring, soaring through the air. He swung his spear swiftly as he flew overhead, cleaving deep cuts along each orc's joints without slowing down.

Blood gushed forth in torrents as he slashed ruthlessly.

"That's one. One more."

"I got this." Cain stabbed his sword deep into the Orc's leg, causing the monster to grunt in pain. He kicked and pushed it to the ground, then gestured to Azazel to help him cut its limbs.

Feeling intrigued and wanting to find out more about Cain, Azazel decided to play along. Soon enough, they incapacitated the two monsters.

"Now, you just need to kill them, girl."

Just like Azazel being curious with Cain and allowing him to do as he pleases to judge him, so did the boy.

Cain had another goal of doing something this extreme, pushing the traumatic girl to kill the orc. Emotions were the source of his income. Having someone traumatic and cure them afterward sounded delicious.

He could hear his large income from this run.

And who knew, maybe Azazel planned on doing so as well. Using Asia's trauma and guide her.

Like a test of worthiness to be part of their organization, or even simply because he cared much about her.

Not that it mattered to Cain. It was amusing either way. Asia's body was trembling like a little rabbit cornered by wolves.

Cain made it obvious he and Azazel weren't planning to kill the helpless monsters, prompting the blonde girl to act.

"P-Please don't..."

Unfortunately, begging for mercy didn't work. In fact, the orcs roared as if angry and about to stand up despite missing limbs.

"Don't worry," Cain said, approaching the frightened girl. He presented his sword's handle to her. "Just a quick stab through the heart or skull is enough. They killed you, no? It's just right to return the favor."

"N-No, I c-can't." Tears flowed freely from Asia's cheeks as her fear overcame every ounce of rationality left in her mind. "I-I'm sorry b-but it's impossible f-for me..."

Asia choked on her words, unable to utter another word. Her hands clutched her chest tightly. Her breathing became erratic.

"Do it." Cain pushed the handle toward her again. "I don't know what it means in your world, but dungeons are dangerous. One wrong move and pity toward your opponent will result in your death. Or maybe a worse fate than death."

Then, he walked past her.

"They killed you back then. You have to show them that you are strong and that you deserve to live. Otherwise, they won't know and will do the same again. That's how cruel this place is." He continued as he walked, stopping right between the orc that still roared, "Here, I will prove it to you."

"No!"

Stab!

Ignoring Asia's shout, Cain raised his sword high before plunging it deep into the orc's neck, twisting and pulling out the blade. Blood sprayed everywhere as the beast cried out loudly in pain.

It stopped moving after a few seconds.

Sighing softly, Cain wiped some sweat off his forehead. Then, he turned around to face the terrified nun again.

"See? It's not that hard." He pointed toward the dying beast. "Its friend is already struggling to move, though. Better act quickly before it crawls toward you. Fire orcs can breathe fire when they get angry, I heard. Imagine finding yourself engulfed in flame, it's hell, isn't it?"

The nun gradually paled as Cain's explanation reached her ears. Imagining herself burning to a crisp slowly creeped inside her mind. The heat, pain, smell, suffering. All of those things flashed across her thoughts.

Seeing the girl's reaction, he smiled coldly.

"Would you rather suffer through all that agony again? I bet it hurt terribly." He said, looking at Azazel briefly.

The Governor stood silently, observing them closely without saying anything.

"Suffering is inevitable, but enduring such pain is unnecessary if you can prevent it by yourself. Your best option is to kill it. Quickly! Stab the bastard before it reaches you!"

Asia gasped aloud and stepped backward instinctively as soon as she saw the orc crawling closer toward her. Slowly, it was getting closer and closer, moving to the weakest enemy in the vicinity.

"B-But..."

"It wants to kill you!" Cain shouted angrily. "Haven't you learned from your previous experience?! You died because you couldn't bring yourself to take your enemy's lives. Take this sword and put an end to this miserable monster!"

His words echoed throughout the forest, reverberating deeply within the depths of Asia's soul. Taking the final step, she took the weapon and held it firmly.

Her whole body shook violently due to nerves.

"Ah- Aahhh!"

As the injured orc drew nearer and nearer, panic set in. An indescribable pressure built upon her shoulders as she stared down the approaching creature. The sword in her hand felt heavy, so heavy in fact she nearly dropped it.

Even so, her resolve remained unbroken.

She bit her bottom lip hard as if to steel herself further, mentally preparing for whatever may happen afterwards. Despite everything, she knew that Cain would never allow the orc to kill her. It was just... too painful.

If the torture would last long... Asia didn't know.

Better end it quickly.

"Aaaah!"

She screamed and stabbed wildly. She stabbed blindly. She aimed desperately.

Scream and stab!

Blindly thrust the pointy end toward its target.

Her tearful eyes widened when the tip of the sword sank into soft meat. There was a faint squelching noise.

"Uwaa!" Asia yanked back the sword with all her strength, horrified when the entire blade dripped thick crimson liquid.

Miraculously, she stabbed the orc right in its eye, deep enough to kill it. The sword's enhancement helped greatly, turning the iron into a deadly weapon that could pierce the flesh of the fire orc.

"I... d-did it..." Her knees buckled beneath her.

Collapsing onto her knees, Asia vomited uncontrollably as tears cascaded down her cheeks like raindrops on glass windows.

Azazel approached and whispered to Cain, "You're more cruel than I thought."

While nodding slightly, he responded calmly. "Just trying to give her some lessons."

And farm some Coins, he added in his mind.
