Chapter 146 - 146 - Beast God Style

Aisha Greyrat was six years old this year, the Four Hundred and Twentieth Year of the Armored Dragon.

Despite her young age, she was an extremely powerful mage and had already reached the intermediate level in the Water God Style with the sword.

It was the style that proved most compatible with her.

For a time, Aisha wanted to switch to the Beast God Style, believing it would be disrespectful not to learn her own master's fighting style.

But those thoughts were gently refused by Rygar himself, who pointed out that the Water God Style was much more appropriate for her after observing her closely.

He encouraged her to practice it, praising her natural affinity. To Aisha's delight, Rygar was also extremely proficient in that style and could teach her perfectly.

Thus, there were no major conflicts about it.

Throughout her life, Aisha had always been called a prodigy. A genius.

Someone from whom everyone expected great deeds. And indeed, she always lived up to expectations. She always succeeded, she always handled everything.

But even being talented was not enough for her to be treated with affection in her early years. In fact, the opposite was more common.

Her memories of the Greyrat household were hazy; she had some memories of her father and his wife, but they were not very clear since it had been a long time since Aisha had seen them.

But she clearly remembered Lilia's constant reprimands, often for being more competent than Norn.

This worsened even more after the teleportation incident, when they ended up at the Latreia household and the nobles there received her as nothing more than a bastard daughter, born to serve her sister, Norn.

In Rygar's group, however, her ability was met with curiosity and admiration.

At first, Aisha believed that the good treatment was just a result of her competence. But, over time, she began to perceive something different. They were good people.

Truly good people. Something that seemed to be lacking in the cold Latreia noble house of Milis.

Still, even in this new environment, Aisha never fully relaxed. There was an unconscious fear that, if she failed, she would be expelled.

As if talent were the only guarantee of staying.

That talent, which would open so many doors for her, was also what consumed her the most.

Behind every smile, even the sincere ones, and every achievement, there was a constant pressure to maintain perfection.

Even when members of the group said there was no rush, that her gift was enough, that she could rest... Aisha agreed, but she didn't truly believe it.

However, the past few years had gently melted those internal bonds.

The constant kindness, the silent support, and the warmth of that group were gradually dissolving the fear and insecurity that lived inside her.

And, finally, on Rygar's birthday, his words broke down the last wall.

He had said, with touching sincerity, that he wanted her to relax a little. Simple words, but they touched the most fragile part of her heart. A part she didn't even know existed.

For Aisha, Rygar, Lilia, Eris, Ghislaine, and Eidar before he died... they were the most important people in the world.

But, because of her fiery and distrustful personality, she had always kept a slight, almost imperceptible emotional distance. Unknown even to Aisha herself.

After all, even Lilia, her mother, had not been exactly affectionate at the beginning of Aisha's life.

But now, everything was different.

Even Aisha herself did not realize it, but after that day... something inside her had changed. She was finally free.

Free from the little psychological traumas that had accompanied her since childhood.

And Rygar Adoldia was the main reason for that. Her master. Her guiding star.

Despite that, on the surface, nothing had really changed in her routines.

Aisha continued training, with more focus. She began coordinating Legion members with more confidence.

She talked to Nina and Jino, trying to convince them, without saying it directly, to eventually join the Legion.

She talked to Isolte, Eris, and Ghislaine. But now, she did all of that a little more lightly. A little more genuinely.

Since that day, Aisha Greyrat had been a little happier.

----

In an open training field of the Sword Sanctuary, under a rarely clear sky and the constant sound of wind sweeping across the training grounds, were Jino Britz and Rygar Adoldia.

Jino was running around a stone dummy carved as a target, his breath quickened, sweat trickling down his forehead, and his sword sheathed.

His steps were firm, and his gaze sharp. Suddenly, he leapt precisely, and in midair, his sword came out of its sheath in a sudden, explosive draw, not looking like a Longsword of Light.

The blade sliced through the dummy's neck with a dry sound, completely destroying its head. The stone split into fragments that fell to the ground with cracks.

He landed with a soft thud, breathing heavily and keeping his eyes on the destroyed dummy.

Then he turned to Rygar, who was watching the scene with crossed arms and a slight smile.

"Excellent, Jino!" Rygar said with conviction.

Jino smiled, a bit embarrassed, still panting.

"I'm still far from Miss Eris, Miss Isolte, and Nina..."

Rygar approached, staring at the debris of the dummy.

"They are all older than you, but you're not that far off," he replied firmly.

Jino nodded, wiping the sweat with his arm.

"Uff... Miss Isolte was even appointed Water King recently..."

It was true. When Reida Reia, her grandmother, watched one of her granddaughter's last fights, she was so impressed by her progress that she named her directly as Water King.

This caused slight annoyance in Eris, who considered herself superior to Isolte, which she really was at the moment.

While Jino caught his breath, Rygar reflected on some significant updates in his learnings.

First of all, he had confirmed without a shadow of a doubt that Jino Britz possessed a natural talent for the art of the sword as a whole — and not just for the Sword God Style.

Everything Rygar tried to teach the boy was absorbed at an impressive speed.

Jino had a unique perception and vision of swordsmanship, something Rygar himself did not yet fully understand.

In a short period of just two years, the boy had reached the advanced level in the Water God, North God, and even the newly formed Beast God styles.

All while continuing to progress as a Sword Saint, without losing his momentum.

Initially, Rygar had not intended to teach him all the styles. It was just a test.

But the more the boy learned, the more interested he became. He said that Nina constantly mentioned how proficient Rygar was in all the styles, and that inspired him.

Rygar feared that such an approach would dilute Jino's progress, but, surprisingly, he kept improving on all fronts simultaneously.

He was, without a doubt, a rare talent, even more so considering he was only eleven years old.

Furthermore, the relationship between Jino and Nina was deepening, thanks to the advice Rygar discreetly offered.

Another big news was the progress of the Beast God Style. Technically, the style was already complete.

The only element missing to be truly considered complete was the existence of a "Beast God" — someone who would represent the personification of that style as the strongest.

But Rygar was about to fill that role, as his strength grew every day.

The principles of the style were clear: predatory, sensitive, and explosive.

A fusion between the strengths of the North God and Sword God styles — lethal attacks at high speed, sensory precision, and unpredictability.

Rygar structured the style based on solid fundamentals:

Instinct was transformed into conscious technique. Unlike traditional styles, the Beast God Style valued instinctive responses but refined them until they became deliberate and conscious techniques.

Practitioners were trained to expand their senses — peripheral vision, smell, and hearing — to such sharp levels that they could sense changes in air pressure before a strike was delivered.

Movement was erratic like that of a wild animal. Never linear, always unpredictable. Side jumps, sudden advances, use of the environment — such as branches, stones, even the opponent's body — as propulsion.

Strikes had precise targets: trachea, joints, floating ribs, tendons, base of the spine — every point that would cause maximum damage.

It was an aggressive, fierce, merciless form of combat. A lethal dance between predator and prey.

Rygar also decided to rename the movement technique. The old "Flash Step" now referred only to the technique he used along with wind magic.

The version that used only touki was christened "Wild Dash."

Although the technique's basis was the same — explosive bursts with abrupt changes of direction — it had been refined to such a point that not even a Sword Emperor could touch him if Rygar did not allow it.

This movement was more organic than that of the Sword God Style. Curved, fluid, alive. More versatile. Less predictable.

The attack techniques followed the same principle.

One of them, named "Savage Slash," prioritized explosiveness and speed, but, unlike the Longsword of Light, could be used with almost any weapon.

The theory behind it consisted of using touki fluidly — rapidly alternating between its light, tense form and something sharp and explosive — always aiming at the enemy's weak points.

There were also techniques meant to force the opponent into mistakes. Faced with a hidden predator, humans tend to lose their composure.

Concealment techniques, merciless assaults, and constant pressure were part of this arsenal.

Compared to the other styles, the differences were evident:

The Sword God Style used brute force, linear speed, and constant pressure. — The Beast God Style was erratic, curved, unpredictable — but as aggressive as, if not more than, the former.

The Water God Style prized flow reading, technical precision, and control. — The Beast God Style did not read the flow — it felt it with sharpened senses.

The North God Style was versatile, provocative, full of tricks. — The Beast God Style was pure killing instinct. No frills. Just the most efficient way to kill an opponent.

At higher levels, the techniques became absurdly refined; Rygar could say this because he himself had already achieved mastery in almost all of them.

Wild Dash would allow movements at supersonic speeds.

The senses would sharpen to the point of acquiring a superior instinct — a kind of "sixth sense" that always told him where the opponent would attack.

Savage Slash could be used to eliminate dozens of opponents before they even realized they were in combat.

This was one of the central pillars of the style: when a predator kills its prey before it realizes it is being hunted, it is considered a perfect hunter.

Jino was learning the Beast God Style just like the others.

Since Rygar had created these styles precisely to counter the three great existing styles, Jino naturally became interested.

Of course, fighting styles were useful, but in the end, combat was decided by who was stronger.

Theoretically, the Water God Style countered the Sword God Style, but Gall Farion defeated Reida Reia, earning the place of the strongest style of this era.

"Senpai," Jino said during a training break. "Aisha told me yesterday that there was a wandering dragon not far from here. I was thinking we could go, just me and Nina..."

Jino looked at Rygar expectantly.

Since the first time they had left the Sword Sanctuary, they had occasionally gone out to hunt monsters.

Nothing as far as the journey to the Red Dragon Range, but it had become a habit among them.

Rygar smiled, almost teasingly.

"Of course... Nina is an adult now, so you need to act more mature if you want to keep her attention. But don't overdo it, or she'll notice."

Jino gave a shy smile, pleased with the response.

"Yes!"

They continued training together for a while longer, until Rygar left to begin practicing more focused techniques on his own.

---

Rygar was pondering the three new items he had received — the ring, the cloak, and the sword — which had arrived at the same time, coincidentally.

The ring seemed to conjure some kind of mental barrier. Using his magic eye, Rygar deduced that it had an automatic defense mechanism against mental attacks, and it also increased focus and clarity of thought, similar to the sword but on a smaller scale.

The cloak had already been explained, but the sword... The sword was different.

Gall Farion had said that it aided in touki manipulation, but it was deeper than that. The truth was that it helped conduct mana, not just touki.

This meant that, while wielding that sword, his control over both magic and touki would be enhanced.

More than that — his focus and processing speed also increased noticeably.

Training with that sword raised, even if slightly, the efficiency of his training in both touki and magic.

Rygar was pleased to have chosen that weapon. It fit perfectly with his combat philosophy and constant learning.

He was now holding the sword, training. The "Silver Blade of the Mirror Water," as he still needed to get used to its weight, length, and cut.

He was executing an unusual technique. A technique that involved spinning the body, confusing the opponent and hiding the blade's trajectory.

It was the Rotation of Light, created by Eris Greyrat.

She had been upset to be defeated even after using that technique, which she had been saving especially to beat him.

But her spirits returned when Rygar thanked her and showed genuine interest, asking many questions about the technique's workings and the concept behind it.

It was a simple idea, but difficult to execute. It required luck, yes, but mainly perseverance.

Eris combined those two elements and managed to create something elegant and deadly.

The technique itself was extremely effective, but what fascinated Rygar most was the way the touki moved naturally toward the blade's cutting edge during the rotation.

This opened possibilities. It gave him ideas. Ideas on how to apply that dynamic to other techniques, perhaps even create his own variations.

He continued practicing the Light Rotation for a long time, immersed in concentration. He thought of Eris, of how she had demonstrated the technique, every step and detail.

The wind danced around his spins, and the blade's metallic sheen glittered under the open sky.

There, alone in his training, Rygar was polishing another piece of what would become the true Beast God Style.
