My Apocalypse Territory-Chapter 471 - 436: Luring the Behemoth
Chapter 471: Chapter 436: Luring the Behemoth
The breath of the Alien Race is very different from humans and Mutant Beasts; if I must say, it’s somewhat closer to that of Demonized Beasts, carrying a sense of destruction.
However, just like how human powerhouses can control their power to conceal their breaths, the Alien Race can also hide themselves; the White Bone Clan, in particular, is capable of integrating into human society.
These members of the Alien Race... they have big mouths, which Tang Yu tentatively calls them—the Big Mouths... cough, the Blood Mouth Clan.
The force attacking the palace shield is numerous—there are more than a hundred by sight, with many holding an exotic long-poled weapon. The weapon’s tip glows like a light bulb and emits a beam that hooks onto the shield... seemingly weakening it continuously.
Back when the scenery of the Mirage Mountain Range first appeared in the sky, Tang Yu witnessed flying Mutant Beasts attacking an intact palace, only to be repelled by the shield and significantly wounded.
The shield of the current palace couldn’t possibly be a lower version, right? Tang Yu tended to believe it was the effect of those exotic weapons.
These members of the Alien Race had come prepared.
At the very front of the hundreds of the Alien Race were a dozen beings with overwhelming breaths, also the main force bombarding the shield, allowing Nightmare to sense the disturbance from tens of kilometers away.
"They’re all Transcendents, and there are too many... even the Ghost Hand and White Bone Clan Alliance Army only had fourteen, but the Blood Mouth Clan has now appeared with fifteen, and among them, five are Senior Transcendents!"
"Especially the one in the front... it actually possesses a Transcendent weapon!"
The Transcendent of the Blood Mouth Clan wielded a hammer larger than its own body, emitting a terrifying energy that caused the shield to tremble with each strike, even more dreadful than Senior Transcendents.
"A Second Tier Transcendent? No, that’s not right; it should be one of those king-level beings among the same tier."
From what Tang Yu understood, as of now, a Second Tier Transcendent forcefully traversing a spatial channel would only cause it to collapse, leading to complete disorientation within the spatial currents.
But among peers at the same tier, there are strong and weak, like Nancy, who is just an ordinary... newly advanced Transcendent, yet capable of contending with Senior Transcendents who have accumulated hundreds of years of experience.
In terms of energy level consumption, transporting such powerhouses through the spatial channel is clearly more cost-effective.
Moreover, there’s the matter of Transcendent weapons... much more formidable Transcendent weapons than Nancy’s "Calamity Greatsword"... Just sending this hammer over here has cost as much as quick-despatching two or three Transcendents.
With these Transcendents’ continuous bombardments, the shield’s brilliance flickered uncertainly, seemingly on the verge of breaking at any moment.
"Could it be that the previous palace was also destroyed by this group from the Blood Mouth Clan?"
Tang Yu was anxious. After finding a complete palace with great difficulty, could he only watch helplessly as it gets plundered by the Alien Race?
Enter before the Alien Race does?
Tang Yu quickly rejected the idea; Virtual and Real Transit was not omnipotent, and right now, he was still in the superficial Deep Space. Getting close posed the risk of being detected by the others... and entering a deep transit made it impossible to observe the outside world or determine an accurate location.
Though the cost of losing a Nightmare Puppet could be borne, it couldn’t just be blown up without having achieved anything of value, right?!
Spatial fluctuations...
An energy surge erupted.
Within a radius of a kilometer, everything had been thoroughly annihilated, and the ground below had also vanished; the palace was now suspended in mid-air.
The shield grew dimmer.
Nightmare lurked in the distance, daring not to make any rash moves.
Some Mutant Beasts attracted by the commotion were blown to bits before they could draw close, and even a curious Transcendent Mutant Beast that flew over out of interest was blown apart by the Blood Mouth Clan Transcendents without a chance to escape.
Such brutality! ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Nightmare quickly wrapped his cloak around himself. In the perilous Mirage Mountain Range, only this inconspicuous cloak could offer a shred of warmth.
"Mutant Beast? Right, there are still Mutant Beasts!"
"Who cares about the Alien Race, Mirage Mountain Range is the territory of the Mutant Beast!"
Tang Yu’s eyes lit up.
Within the boundlessly vast Mirage Mountain Range, Transcendents were a common sight. When I first entered with Nancy, it didn’t take long before we encountered a Second Tier Mutant Beast.
Those Transcendent Mutant Beasts seemed to be bound by some restriction, rarely flying out of the mountain range—to this day, I’d only seen a golden eagle flying out. Could the other beasts all be homebodies?
The place where I stood wasn’t very deep into the range. Given the flying speed of a Transcendent, it would take just an hour or two to burst out of the Mirage Mountain Range. But on the periphery (where there was still sunlight), I indeed hadn’t seen any Transcendent Mutant Beasts. Yet as soon as I entered the inner circle, they became innumerable.
The light membrane wouldn’t last long, so I immediately took action. With resolve, I controlled the Nightmare to fly towards the spot where I’d encountered the Second Tier Transcendent last time.
The scenery flew past like streaks of light.
Lush giant trees, overlapping ridges of mountains that seemed endless.
The Nightmare materialized, a wispy aura emanating from it.
Suddenly, the jungle stirred, numerous birds and beasts fled in terror.
The Nightmare glided slowly, then suddenly felt a premonition of danger. Its figure immediately virtualized, turning into a stream of light and fleeing into the distance.
In an instant,
A Single-Horned Giant Beast with wings on its back flew out from the deep mountains.
With one claw, it spanned an enormous distance, reaching for where the Nightmare had just been, leaving several deep and dark fissures in the air.
Seeing the Nightmare disappear, a hint of surprise flashed in the eyes of the Single-Horned Giant Beast, followed by a human-like taunting, as if it had found an interesting toy, leisurely flying in pursuit.
...
Hide.
And hide again!
A 360-degree Thomas spin drift style evasion!
I was highly focused, controlling the Nightmare to intermittently enter Deep Space, then re-emerge somewhere else.
Narrowly dodging the Single-Horned Giant Beast’s attacks by a hair’s breadth.
Dancing on a knife edge!
But the giant beast seemed to be losing patience. Its speed suddenly accelerated, its claws glowed with a golden hue, and with one swipe, ripples cascaded through the surrounding space.
The Nightmare, half-virtual, rapidly transited, having already avoided the core of the shockwave, yet it was still caught by the residual effects and fell out of the shallow space.
It sounded to me as if a crisp crack came from the Puppet’s body.
No more playing around!
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the huge figure closing in. In the nick of time, the Nightmare’s body virtualized until it disappeared, escaping into Deep Space, swiftly flying through the colorful passageway.
After a full minute of transit, the Nightmare exited from Deep Space, looking around to find itself in an unknown location.
"The Second Tier Transcendent’s perception should detect something amiss from the place I just fled from, but it’s uncertain... whether the Single-Horned Giant Beast would be curious enough to go there."
I had no confidence whatsoever.
But I suspected that the Single-Horned Giant Beast was the undisputed ruler of this territory... nothing posed a threat to it, so naturally, it needn’t be overly cautious. Moreover, that beast seemed to be extremely bored.
If it discovered the Blood Mouth Clan, the odds of it taking direct action were quite high.
All I could do was to do my part and leave the rest to fate.
"The current problem is... I seem to be lost."
The Nightmare could only continue in the direction from which we came, flying for about fifteen minutes. Glancing to the side, I sensed an energy fluctuation in the distance.
