Chapter 126: Wake Up! Arata

(Karsten)

Arata clung to me even in her unconsciousness. I rushed to my car with her securely wrapped in my arms. I wasn’t sure how injured she was so I needed to get her to a hospital.

"Arata," I called her several times and patted her cheek in hopes that she might wake up and open her gorgeous eyes. But she was out cold.

Her left cheek was slightly bruised and the small blemish made my temper flare beyond measure. That man had no idea who he had messed with and I was going to unleash my worst personality on him.

Sadly, not many people knew I didn’t have two personalities but three and my third one was the worst.

Caysir rushed to my side with shadows of worries passing over him while Olphi opened the door of the car, understanding the situation.

"Arata has been hurt, stay here and help with the investigation of the man who has been captured. Ensure, he is not handed to the police. I want him," I ordered Caysir.

His concerned eyes roamed towards Arata’s unconscious figure before turning to me and giving me a quick nod.

I entered the car with her safely tucked in my arms and Olphi closed the door behind me.

As soon as he settled in the driving seat I instructed.

"Hospital." Olphi needn’t be told twice as the car came to life and we sped away.

Placing Arata’s head in my lap, I shifted my coat from her body to inspect the extent of her injuries.

There was a bruise on her shoulder, a deep cut from which blood had seeped and coagulated. Her dress had been torn, and the very thought of someone touching her inappropriately made my blood run hot.

I covered her revealed skin with my coat again and pushed away her soft hair from her face. Capturing her hand, I inspected it for injuries and to my horror, I found her knuckles to be bruised raw, revealing the pink underneath. Two of her nails were broken and bleeding.

Rage serrated me as my thumb very delicately rubbed her wounded knuckles.

’Hang in there, Arata,’ I hoarsely whispered, unable to tear my eyes away from her injured hand and peaceful face.

I couldn’t even imagine what she must have gone through.

How she would have panicked and fought back the monster trying to abduct her?

How long she had been trapped in the elevator?

From what Masdja had said, it was at least 50 minutes since she was taken.

No wonder she had gone unconscious. My other thumb slowly rubbed her injured cheek, and I prayed for her to be not seriously harmed, or sexually assaulted.

Olphi parked the car in the emergency spot and emergency paramedics rushed towards the car.

In an instant, they opened the back door and took her from my arms.

"What happened to her?" They hurriedly asked, strapping her on the stretcher.

"She was assaulted, but I don’t know the extent of her injuries," I informed them while getting out of the car and following behind in a quick run.

They wheeled her in while putting the oxygen mask on her face. Helplessly I watched, as they took her away, leaving me behind.

Standing there, the strength I always possessed seemed to dissipate from my body.

"Please, fill out the paperwork." I was asked by the desk clerk as she handed me a form to fill out.

Grabbing the pen, I set to the task, but my ever-stable hand shook for the first time.

Penning down my relationship to her as her boyfriend, I contemplated hard on how fake this relationship between us was and yet both of us were strung together, coming closer because of the circumstances.

I had tried to keep her near me so I could protect her but failed, miserably.

Grabbing the perfect Windsor she had tied around my neck; I loosened it slightly.

Filling out the form, I handed it back and thus began my impatient pacing in the waiting area.

Olphi arrived with my phone and I immediately called Caysir. As soon as he picked up, I asked.

"Is he conscious yet?"

"He is not yet conscious but we have bound him up," Caysir answered.

"I will be calling Azbial once he grants permission and that bastard is conscious; just take him to the warehouse, and I will be there as soon as Arata is out of danger."

"Copy that, Sir," he stiffly answered and the call ended.

Shoving my hand into my pocket I placed the next call to Azbial. The very thought that he had such lax security that someone had sneaked in and tried to kidnap her was pissing me off.

"Karsten, is Miss Arata out of danger?" He asked as the call got connected.

"I don’t know, she has been taken to the ER. Tell me how someone broke through your security, overrode your system, and tried to abduct my girlfriend?" I asked in a hard voice, unable to control my anger.

"Believe me, Karsten, we have a foolproof system where I personally check every man we hire. This person was a last-minute replacement but had a good recommendation. His past was clean, I have checked again. No arrests, no criminal record, not even a parking ticket."

This didn’t make sense.

Why would someone with no criminal record try to abduct Arata? Something didn’t add up.

"I will investigate that myself. Let Caysir take him, and I don’t want any police involved until I am done with him. This is personal for me and you know what happens when I become personal with someone." Azbial knew the real power I held and he would never challenge me.

"I understand. Police won’t know anything. I am sending my two guards along with Caysir. My best wishes to Miss Arata, and I apologise for the incident. I should have been more vigilant."

"Yes, you should have." Ending the call, I pocketed the phone and turned to Olphi.

"I am stepping out for a smoke. Call me if there is any news about Arata." He only gave me a single nod and stood like a statue while I stepped out into the cold night of chilly November.

’Wake up, Arata,’ I murmured to the air and looked at the heavens in anticipation.

I worried about her family too, knowing she was close to them and was a protected child. If they didn’t hear from her daily, I knew they would get suspicious. I needed her phone so I could contact them on her behalf if the need arose.

Lighting up my cigarette I tried for all my worries to evaporate with the smoke.
