My CEO Boss Is A Masked Internet Sensation-Chapter 147: Don’t They Look Perfect Together?
Chapter 147: Don’t They Look Perfect Together?
(Arata)
Was he serious? Or just trying to be a smart mouth.
He could be charming when he wanted to be.
"Should I? You want to meet them seriously?"
His eyes flickered back to the stage as he relaxed against the seat with his shoulders dropping.
"Why not? Are you afraid to introduce me as your boyfriend?"
He was up to no good. Karsten was back to making challenges and seeing if I would chicken out.
"I am afraid of you getting butchered by them when the contract ends and they will think you broke my heart."
He was going to break my heart either way but my family didn’t need to know.
His eyes drifted towards me and something incredulous flashed in his onyx gaze. He took his time to answer me.
"Fair point, but at least I can meet them as your boss." ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"Yes, you can. I will send them the invitation as soon they are printed. My brother will be attending as well and he is a car nerd." I chuckled at the thought of Zaylen harassing him with all his car knowledge.
"I will enjoy having a conversation with him," Karsten assured me.
Our focus shifted as Amanda made her way to the ramp.
And man, she could walk. The air around her seemed to be still as she glided on her tapered legs, flaunting the beautiful red and golden fur gown she was donning.
Whistles from the male models echoed in the hall.
She was well deserving of her place as the show-stopper.
The girl confidently walked to the edge of the ramp and with her head held high, she glanced down at us.
To Karsten, she offered a sexy smile, which disappeared as her eyes landed on our conjoined hands. The jealousy so visibly flashed there.
"Sir, if you could take a moment and walk down the ramp with Amanda. I just want to see the chemistry," Halima requested from the side of the ramp.
My heart fluttered but not in a good way and I found myself praying that Karsten would refuse.
But to my dismay, he quietly placed my hand on my leg and got up, making his way towards the two stairs that led to the raised platform.
Amanda triumphantly smirked at me as if she had won the lottery and I merely wanted to roll my eyes at her.
Moving her arms and hips she walked back to where Karsten was and stood beside him.
Didn’t she know that he wasn’t interested in any kind of commitment and she was just going to be wasting her time and energy?
Still, the thought of her touching him, but more importantly, the thought of him touching her seared my insides. My hands clutched my pants at the knees as I watched with frustration.
Halima and Ranold climbed the stage with Karsten.
After brief instructions, everyone climbed down, leaving Karsten and Amanda. Ranold, to my dismay, walked over and settled in the seat Karsten had just vacated.
"Don’t they look good? Even have matching costumes. This is going to be epic," he said with a smirk, his arms going behind his head as if he were flexing his biceps.
I clearly didn’t understand this man. Just yesterday, he was ranting about how they should change her because she had done surgeries. It felt more like he was taunting me.
"It won’t work if they don’t. I hope it will be epic, that’s what we are striving towards," I answered calmly, understanding the game he was trying to play.
"I thought you would be jealous. Isn’t this what girls do? Get jealous and fight over men."
I turned my head and narrowed my eyes at him.
"We have much better things to do than fight over men. It has always been men in recorded history who fought over women, even waged wars," I answered calmly, not falling for his traps.
"And didn’t women always scheme to get the attention of the emperor when he had multiple wives or concubines," Ranold thoughtfully said.
"Only because men put them in such a position. If they could just love one woman, it won’t happen." I clicked my tongue and relaxed against the seat to observe Karsten walk the runway again. This time, Amanda was holding his arm instead of me.
"You are a smart one, I can see why Karsten is smitten with you. Enjoy while it lasts, Arata but keep my warning in mind," Ranold chuckled as if he had cracked a joke.
I didn’t understand this man at all. Sometimes I believed he just said things to bring out what lay in other’s hearts.
Karsten’s eyes found us and his face seemed to have hardened. Ranold enthusiastically waved at his friend while I silently watched.
Their walk started under the guidance of Halima. The lights brightened, and the music fastened, but all I could focus on was the part where both of them had connected.
I hated these fermenting pangs of envy. Every step and every smile made me want to give her a scowl for being so pretty and fake.
Truth be told, she seemed perfect with Karsten. Although I wasn’t short by any means, this girl was way close to six feet tall, with a slim waist and long tanned legs.
Once the walk ended, everyone enthusiastically clapped and there were even chants of:
"Amanda!"
"Amanda!"
That fake smile every model has perfected to give once the show is over sprang on her lips, knowing she had done a good job, and undoubtedly she had.
"See, I told you." Ranold triumphed from my side.
Karsten walked down from the stage and summoned us both backstage.
Once we joined him, he asked, letting the helper take off his coat.
"What do you guys think?"
"She is perfect, except for all that plastic," Ranold snorted, leaning against a table with hairbrushes and combs littered on it.
Karsten’s eyes wavered to me, waiting for my answer. As much as I hated her holding him I couldn’t deny the perfection in her performance.
"She is great, her walk is unique and graceful. She knows how to attract the attention of the onlooker. Among all the models she was by far the best. My vote is for Amanda."
My mouth hurt from the words I had uttered but they needed to be said.
