Chapter 162: Praising My Employees Because She Said So

(Karsten)

Tired of the ordeal, Arata fell asleep in my arms. I would have loved to fix her a hot bath but she was too tired.

"Arata!" I called her glancing down at her sleeping figure.

Her shirt barely held on because of the way I had torn it open. The spill of red was scattered on her shoulders and some strands even fell on her chest.

For a while, I laid her down on my lap and shifted her curtain of hair from her serene face, watching her innocently sleep there.

My fingers simply brushed her fluffy cheeks, they reminded me of the cotton candy I used to eat as a kid. I was sure she still loved eating that.

So trusting, I didn’t even deserve her trust.

"I will always keep you safe, Arata," I slowly murmured to her.

Once the sleep began to consume me, I picked Arata up and tucked her into her bed. She momentarily awakened and then snuggled under the blanket.

Placing a tender kiss on her temple I dragged myself away from her.

Heading to my room I showered and changed before calling Olphi to let everyone in.

She didn’t get to eat dinner, so I informed Asbela to deliver her breakfast first thing in the morning.

Picking up my pack of cigarettes, I decided to have a smoke, but Arata’s face came into view. She hated my habit and I couldn’t do it. Not today. Tossing it on the table I climbed in bed.

Soon I drifted off to sleep as well. The next couple of days were going to be hectic so I needed to get some sleep to remain functioning.

The next day, I needed to get the dress ready before she arrived for her rehearsal. I left for the office early with Olphi, informing Caysir to bring her later.

Another reason for this was that I wanted her to get some rest as this was going to be a hectic day with rehearsals. I did leave her an explanation DM so she wouldn’t feel left out.

I arrived at the Design Department, they had promised that it would be ready tomorrow and I wanted to personally ensure that it was.

Entering the workspace, I found the team I had tasked with putting the dress together.

"Sir, it’s ready." The head of the design department informed me with a satisfied smile, knowing why I was there.

"Show me," I quickly said and they guided me towards the mannequin on which it had been displayed.

My eyes took it in as it sparkled under the light sconces. It had turned out the way I had envisioned it and I could imagine Arata inside it.

Dazzling and dreamy, just like her. I knew she was going to love it.

She would appear like a princess, the princess of the Arsten Empire.

Advancing forward, I observed it thoroughly, my hand reaching out to feel the soft fabric; it would sit snugly against her skin.

The excitement of seeing her donning this while walking beside me made me slightly giddy.

Turning around I found the whole department had gathered to observe my reaction and wait for my words of approval.

Their awaiting eyes and excited faces revealed they were dying to hear me praise it.

"I want the belt to have more gemstones, it’s looking too plain. But overall a fantastic job."

Their faces glowed as if I had offered them a 100 per cent incentive. I guess the boss’s praise was like an incentive for the employees. Arata had been right to bug me about praising others more. freёweɓnovel.com

"It will be done right away. Should we send it to the practice hall?" The head of the Design Department asked as she walked me out.

"Yes, I need to check up on the invitations for the Winter Gala, but I will be heading there later," I informed her while leaving the place and heading to my next destination.

I had a feeling this Winter Gala was going to be epic with her being a showstopper with me.

I reached the Marketing and Creative Apartment and they showed me the design right away. It was spot on, just the way I had wanted. The red ribbons mingled with snowflakes, with our tagline written in the centre.

Giving them my approval I left the Marketing and Creative Department.

Miranda joined me and narrated my schedule as she handed me a take-along mug of coffee.

"Sir, your next meeting is in 5 minutes. It will extend into the early hours of noon and then you have the ramp rehearsal."

Taking a small sip as I headed to the conference room, I asked.

"Has Arata arrived?"

"Not yet, Sir. But she sent me a voice note that she will be here in half an hour," Miranda answered while trotting behind me.

"Perfect. Go down personally to receive her when she arrives. She might want to use the stairs instead of the elevator so try to make her feel comfortable and stay with her. Ensure she has everything she needs. We will do a full costume dress rehearsal after my meeting."

The glass door slid open and I entered the conference hall while Miranda offered me a quick nod and retreated.

The meeting dragged on and I found it difficult to concentrate. The images of a certain redhead and the way she had sucked my cock kept repeating in my head.

But the meeting was important; these were the products we were to launch in January, and I couldn’t just slack. I propelled myself and tried to concentrate.

Two hours seemed like two days to me, and finally, it was over.

"You seemed distracted. There weren’t enough ripples on your forehead and cutting remarks on your tongue," Ranold so annoyingly observed.

I was known to give extra hard time at the meetings and act grumpy. I guess it felt odd when I didn’t pinpoint too many mistakes and kept a neutral face instead of my regular scrutinising one.

"I was focused. Why were you staring at my face instead of focusing on work," I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.

"Just an observation. Let’s head down for the rehearsal. I am guessing your girlfriend must be there," he confidently smirked.

I rolled my eyes at him, but inside my chest, that stupid organ did an excited flip.

We headed for the practice hall, and upon our entry, the first thing I observed was her clad in the costume I had specifically designed and chosen for her.

And my world tipped on its axis as I openly stared and forgot to breathe.
