Chapter 266: Chapter 3 Ideas_2

Shen Chi always put up a strong front in front of her, but seeing him like this now, the danger must have passed. It was best not to ask too many questions.

Shen Chi sighed in relief. This time had been really unlucky. He had never expected the blockhead daughter of the Military Government to escape from prison, let alone chase him down to S province with a pack of explosives. If he hadn’t been so alert, it would have been more than just a back injury.

Although he had a clear conscience, if he told Wanwan about it, she would surely think of peach blossom debts. Better to leave it be.

"Wait, let’s pick up Little Niangao from school." As the car approached an intersection, Lin Xiaoguai quickly spoke up.

Shen Chi’s expression paused before he agreed, "Okay." He reflected on himself—how could he have forgotten about his son?

The joy and excitement that Shen Yinian felt when he saw Shen Chi at the school gate could not be overstated. The family hadn’t even had a chance to take a breath at home when Han Shouzhen’s family arrived.

"Shoulu, you’re finally back!" Han Shouzhen nearly cried with joy.

Shen Chi felt a bit helpless. He turned to Lin Xiaoguai and said, "I’ll go take a shower and change first." His sister, though her illness had improved a lot, still tended to become uncontrollable when excited, and he really couldn’t handle that.

Lin Xiaoguai’s eyes showed understanding as she softly instructed, "I’ve prepared a new shirt and pants for you, and bought new underwear too. They’re all in the wardrobe; just take them yourself." After so many years of marriage, she had long passed the stage where she would blush at the sight of his intimate clothing.

"Got it." Shen Chi bent down and kissed her forehead.

By the time he had showered and changed, Han Shouxin’s family had arrived, and even Han Kuang had deigned to show up.

"General Han Kuang," Shen Chi hesitated, then nodded with a smile.

Han Kuang felt suffocated. He had given up on his youngest son. Over the years, no matter how he tried, soft approach or hard, his son stubbornly refused to call him father.

Now, he didn’t insist anymore, merely hoping his son might change his tune on his dying day.

Lin Xiaoguai hadn’t prepared any food in advance, but thankfully, with the joint effort of Zheng Cuicui, Han Shouzhen, and Wan Quan, they managed to put together a decent meal.

Since Han Kuang was present, Han Shouxin and Shen Chi didn’t discuss work as they usually did, instead inquiring about each other’s families and health.

Finally, when the guests had left, Lin Xiaoguai intended to clean up, but Shen Chi took the cloth from her hand, and Little Niangao began to sweep the floor with a broom.

"Mom, you’re so tired today. Let me and Dad handle this."

Lin Xiaoguai felt both relieved and moved by these words. She had indeed raised her son with indulgence, but only in material terms. Household chores were a must on a daily basis. With Shen Chi away, her son had taken on a third of the housework. Sometimes, when she saw other children playing carelessly, she did pity her son, but she didn’t want him to turn out like one of those lazy post-80s generations who only waited to be fed, so she sternly persisted.

Thankfully, her perseverance had paid off.

When Shen Chi returned to the room, Lin Xiaoguai had already bathed and was dozing off on the bed. Hearing the noise, she opened her eyes.

The next moment, her lips were sealed, and a wave of passion overwhelmed her. She wrapped her arms around Shen Chi’s neck, surrendering to his desire.

Deep into the night, after their intimate encounter, Lin Xiaoguai lay spent and limp in Shen Chi’s arms.

"Tired?" Shen Chi kissed her eyes and asked softly.

"Mhm," Lin Xiaoguai murmured, not wanting to open her eyes. ƒreewebɳovel.com

Gently playing with her hair, Shen Chi asked in a husky voice, "After you graduate, do you want to work at a newspaper or a magazine? If you do, I can arrange it for you."

"No need," Lin Xiaoguai said, opening her eyes halfway, "I don’t plan to work outside. I’m thinking of opening my own shop."

"A shop?" Shen Chi raised an eyebrow, "What will you sell?" He didn’t think Wanwan was suited for business, but if she liked it, he wouldn’t oppose it. After all, he wasn’t short on money.

He suddenly remembered, "Right, I’ve brought back some money this time. I’ll give it to you in the morning."

"Mhm," Lin Xiaoguai responded, then cuddling against his chest, she answered his earlier question: "I’ll sell the flowers I grow, as well as handmade soaps, small jewelry, and some long-shelf-life foods. And I can also sell some simple medicines. Oh, and clothes too. I’ll add more things as I think of them."

Shen Chi listened and felt it wasn’t feasible; besides growing flowers that didn’t require costs, none of the other items were profitable. He knew about Wanwan’s spendthrift ways. Despite the seemingly low-cost handcrafted soaps and small jewelry, Wanwan had no concept of money and always used whatever materials were best. It was impossible to expect her to cut costs and decrease the quality of the products.

But then again, it didn’t matter since he wasn’t looking to make a fortune. As long as Wanwan was happy, that was enough.

"Then, do you want me to help you find a shop?" Shen Chi wiped the sweat from her brow with a towel.

"Yes," Lin Xiaoguai replied without hesitation.

"Buy or rent?" Shen Chi couldn’t help but kiss her delicate nose.

"Buy it, once and for all. Renting would bring too much trouble later." Lin Xiaoguai snuggled into Shen Chi’s embrace.

Her desire to open a shop was twofold: she wanted something to occupy her time and it was a way of giving back to society.

The help she had received from the space and the system was immense, and after her rebirth, her gratitude had only intensified. When one attains happiness, they wish the same for others around them. Thus, she wanted to do something, and this shop was the long-pondered answer to her question.

It wasn’t about profit, but about benefiting others.

"Wanwan, don’t sleep. We still need to bathe," Shen Chi said as Lin Xiaoguai’s expression grew sleepy. He kissed her as he lifted her sideways and carried her into the bathroom.

As for what happened next in the bath, it was a secret kept behind closed doors.(To be continued.
