Chapter 282: Chapter 11 Motion Sickness_2

Hold on, throwing up on the bus would be bad.

Hold on, it’ll be better once you get off.

Hold on just a bit more, home is only two stops away.

...

Lin Xiaoguai’s face suddenly changed, the bus had just reached the stop, she couldn’t wait any longer, scrambling out, and crouched by the parasol tree, retching loudly.

"Little girl, are you alright?" People nowadays are not as cold as those in the future; an old lady passing by asked with concern.

"It’s nothing, just motion sickness." Lin Xiaoguai took out a handkerchief from her pocket to wipe the vomit from the corner of her mouth, shaking her head embarrassingly.

The sour stench in her mouth was assaulting her brain, Lin Xiaoguai bent over and started vomiting again until there was nothing left in her stomach and she could only dry heave.

"Let me help you over to those steps to sit down," said the old lady, unconcerned about the mess on the ground, offering her assistance warmly.

Lin Xiaoguai felt utterly drained, hesitated for a moment, and said, "That would trouble you, ma’am."

"No trouble at all."

The old lady helped her sit down. Lin Xiaoguai struggled with the persisting foul taste, enduring it she said, "Thank you, ma’am, I’ll feel better after sitting for a while, please feel free to go if you have other matters to attend to."

Indeed, the old lady had other engagements and left without much further ado.

Lin Xiaoguai breathed a sigh of relief, took the opportunity to rinse her mouth with some spring water from her space, and felt revived.

Her stomach still felt uneasy, but drinking some water seemed to ease the discomfort slightly.

Feeling a bit more strength in her legs, Lin Xiaoguai stood up and walked home, daring not to take the bus again.

Shen Chi returned from the military camp, entered the home, and found it empty, which surprised him. Usually, by this time, Wanwan would have dinner ready.

He furrowed his brows, went to the gatekeeper, and had just found out that Lin Xiaoguai left at three. As he walked out of the Military District, he saw her from afar walking along the road toward him.

"Where have you been, why are you back so late?" Shen Chi hurried over and took her hand, asking.

"I got motion sickness on the bus, had to walk the last two stops, so I’m late," Lin Xiaoguai replied tiredly.

Shen Chi, feeling concerned, replied, "What’s wrong? You’ve never had motion sickness before."

"I don’t know, maybe it was because the bus was leaking oil. It smelled strongly of gasoline," Lin Xiaoguai wondered.

"Are you feeling any better now?" Shen Chi asked, looking down.

"Yes," Lin Xiaoguai nodded, "I felt better after throwing up, but now I am very hungry."

"Then let’s go to my brother’s place for dinner," Shen Chi decided after a moment.

They had never mentioned that their new home was very close to Han Shouxin’s residence in the Military District.

"What about Little Niangao..."

"It’s okay, he should be back by now. Let’s head home and then I’ll bike us over," Shen Chi figured biking was fine since driving might cause motion sickness again.

When they arrived home, Shen Yinian indeed was back, and was looking out from the doorway.

"Where have you been, parents? Why isn’t dinner ready?" Shen Yinian ran forward as he saw Shen Chi wrapping an arm around Lin Xiaoguai.

Lin Xiaoguai twitched the corner of her eye, little brat, was dinner his only concern?

Shen Yinian actually wasn’t much of a food lover, at least compared to other kids of his age in similar household circumstances; he resisted snacks quite well. However, his resistance to his mother’s cooking was nonexistent.

Shen Chi smacked him on the head, "Can’t you see your mom isn’t well? We’re not cooking at home today; we are going to your uncle’s for dinner."

Shen Yinian was momentarily taken aback, then noticing Lin Xiaoguai’s look of discomfort, he quickly became worried, "Mom, what’s wrong? Are you feeling alright?"

"It’s nothing, just a bit of motion sickness from the bus," Lin Xiaoguai reassured him with a smile.

Shen Yinian breathed a sigh of relief.

Upon arriving at Han Shouxin’s home, the unannounced visit took the family of three by surprise.

"Why did you come over so suddenly?" Han Shouxin asked while leading them inside.

"Wanwan isn’t feeling well today; we’re here to crash your dinner," Shen Chi said bluntly. Lin Xiaoguai, feeling awkward, pressed her lips together and said, "I felt sick on the bus today, had to get off halfway, and emptied my stomach. I was late in cooking, so we had to bother you."

"It’s alright, I’ll just fry a couple more dishes. The men are going to drink anyway, I’ll steam another pot of rice when they start drinking, and it should be ready by the time they finish," Zheng Cuicui said cheerfully.

Dinner was just about to start at Han Shouxin’s house; the food was ready although the bowls were not yet set.

"Big sister, please serve Wanwan a bowl of rice first; she feels terrible on an empty stomach," Shen Chi, not bearing the conscience of a guest, said immediately.

Lin Xiaoguai covered her face, feeling too embarrassed to see anyone.

Zheng Cuicui didn’t mind; she knew well how much her brother-in-law cared for his wife and swiftly served a bowl of rice putting it in front of Lin Xiaoguai.

Lin Xiaoguai, with her head lowered too embarrassed to look at anyone, waited until everyone was seated before starting to eat.

Though Zheng Cuicui’s cooking didn’t compare to Lin Xiaoguai’s, her homestyle dishes were authentic. However, as Lin Xiaoguai continued to eat, her face began to pale more and more.

"What’s wrong?" Shen Chi, who had kept his eyes on her, asked, frowning.

"I feel like throwing up..." Lin Xiaoguai spoke softly, her words trailing off as she rushed into the bathroom.

Shen Chi stiffened for a moment before quickly realizing and following her.

The remaining three, Han Shouxin, Shen Yinian, and Han Xinyu, looked on worriedly, while Zheng Cuicui appeared both incredulous and skeptical.
