Chapter 426: G’Henna’s Castle

As the morning arrived in G’Henna, we kept moving forward with our army. Meanwhile, the dwarves controlling the World Titan had advanced closer to the colossal castle, which was slightly taller than the massive machine.

The closer we got to our destination, the more nervous everyone got. Still, the nerves didn’t come from the fight awaiting us but from the fact that everything had been silent up until that point.

We expected to get attacked by devils any time we moved. Nevertheless, we didn’t see any enemies except for the giant Primal Demon that the titan took out.

After advancing for a whole day, it was time for us to build our final base, which was about 5km away from the castle walls.

It was pretty close, but knowing that all of the devils were inside the castle made it easier for us to place our encampments that much closer to the city.

My plan was simple. Let the World Titan advance first and break through the castle wall. This would not only take out a lot of demons inside, but it would also leave an opening for our army to enter.

The castle had four massive doors on each cardinal point, and each door seemed to be at least fifty meters tall.

It seemed like the walls were made of the same type of alloy as the continent wall, which made magic weaker, although it didn’t completely dispel it.

My group was located near the southern doors to the castle, and when I sent a message with the voice crystal to the other groups to ask about their conditions, they all confidently replied that they were ready to begin.

The dwarven king didn’t waste any time, and as soon as he received my message telling him we were ready, the World Titan stood up and walked to the eastern side of the castle.

Everyone watched the giant machine expectantly, and when the titan raised its foot to step on the base of the castle, the structure fully resisted the strength, making the ground shake from the impact. Nevertheless, the wall was utterly unbroken.

I was a bit shocked at the durability of the castle’s walls, but the dwarves weren’t finished with their offense and made the titan point its palm at the bottom part of the structure, releasing a blinding beam of light that let out a loud buzzing sound before hitting the wall.

The explosion that was generated raised a huge load of dust, and I couldn’t see the effectiveness of the attack from my position. Still, the dwarven king sent me a message at that moment, saying that the castle walls had come down.

All of our forces from the eastern side started quickly advancing towards the inner parts of the castle. At the same time, all kinds of devils flooded out from the giant hole in the wall.

"Let’s go. We are moving now!" I yelled, using sound magic to increase the volume of my voice for my entire team to hear.

Since my group was on the southern side, my strategy was to circle around and reach the eastern hole, flanking the devils’ forces flooding out of the castle.

Melina was leading a large group of soldiers on the eastern side. Still, she wasn’t the only commander since she didn’t have that much experience when it came to war.

I was worried that Melina would try to rush inside the castle by herself. However, she ended up staying outside and taking care of the first wave of devils while waiting for the reinforcements to arrive.

After our army rushed around the massive castle walls, we reached the devils’ flank and started taking them out.

Surprisingly, there were a few Greater Demons in the area, but Vespera and I quickly targeted them and ended their lives before they could become a problem.

The main type of demon we saw, at least at first, were these smaller beings who were just slightly taller than a dwarf. They had no hair and no eyes, and even though they had a somewhat humanoid body, they walked using their four extremities.

Jackson called them "fiends," and considering he was a devil himself, I believed that must have been their names.

Aside from the large number of fiends running out of the castle, there were also devils with wings, holding lances in their hands and going for our backlines.

The winged demons looked pretty much the same as the fiends—no hair and no eyes–with the only difference being their wings, which seemed to be made of flesh.

Thankfully, the winged demons weren’t able to reach our backline as they got blasted away by the mages’ spells or taken down mid-air by the Sephyr Knights, who were one of the few groups that could fly.

As our forces overtook the area and secured the entrance to the castle, I flew up high in the air and met up with Melina, where we both got a good view of the battlefield, at least from our side.

The demons that were coming out from the hole in the wall were retreating deeper inside the castle walls, which was good for us since it allowed us to enter and reinforce our army right in their footsteps.

Still, before sending anyone in, Melina and I decided to take a quick peek inside. Even when there was a massive hole at the bottom, we couldn’t really see the inside of the structure.

The last thing we wanted was for our army to get caught up in some sort of trap, and after sending a quick message to all the groups explaining my strategy, Melina and I advanced in the air toward the hole in the wall.

When we entered and our eyes adjusted to the brightness inside, we were a bit perplexed at the architecture of the castle. Not because it was terrible, but because it was actually quite beautiful.

The bottom floor of the structure was as large as an entire town—and a big town at that. While the walls were obsidian-colored like the outside, the whole frame of the castle was covered in coral reefs of different colors and shapes.

It was clear the entire continent had been submerged underwater for a very long time, considering that all of the forests and hills were utterly covered in algae and coral reefs. However, the shapes and sizes that formed inside the castle walls were the most impressive I had ever seen.
