"Ah!"
The familiar screech of sound-based ninjutsu echoed throughout the home of the First Hokage.
With a small fish basket slung over her back and a tiny slug perched atop her head, Uchiha Kaoru charged into the courtyard, full of energy and urgency.
"Grandpa, don't go!" she cried out, throwing herself into Kyōsuke's arms with a desperate leap.
Just moments earlier, little Kaoru had overheard someone say that her grandfather might be going on a long journey — the kind that meant he might not come back for a very long time.
The chubby girl panicked the moment she heard that. She dropped even her beloved peanuts without a second thought and dashed outside, determined to stop her grandfather from leaving.
Her sobs echoed through the courtyard, heart-wrenching and loud.
Anyone who didn't know better might have thought that something terrible had happened to Haruto or Eri.
It was clear from her reaction just how much she loved her grandfather. It also showed that Kyōsuke had never let that love go unreciprocated; he truly cherished his granddaughter.
He picked up the little one in his arms and gently consoled her. "Grandpa isn't going anywhere. I'll stay home with you and play, alright?"
"Really?" Her tear-streaked face lit up with cautious hope.
"Of course it's true. People who lie turn into little puppies."
A silly grin spread across Kaoru's face as she heard that, her round cheeks puffed up with joy. It was a look that made her seem adorably foolish.
Kyōsuke smiled and nodded toward his two children, then carried his granddaughter out of the house, setting off on a summer outing under the bright sun.
For their destination, he had chosen the great waterfall in the Land of Hot Water. The area was rich in natural beauty and resources, perfect for a day of make-believe and fishing, which Kaoru adored.
"Grandpa, I'll catch fish for you to eat today!"
"Wonderful. Grandpa loves the fish Kaoru catches most."
"Hehehe, then it's settled! I'm going to catch a hundred fish today."
A powerful weapon forged by the Ōtsutsuki clan, capable of immense destruction, was now nothing more than a fishing rod in the hands of this cheerful little girl.
If Urashiki could see this from the afterlife, he would probably shed tears of grievance over how his treasured weapon was being misused.
Then again, the rod was astonishingly effective when it came to fishing. Without using any special techniques, Kyōsuke might have actually lost to her in a proper fishing contest.
Fortunately, Kyōsuke had never been one to play by the rules.
With the power of the Rinnegan, the fish lurking beneath the massive waterfall seemed to lose the will to live. They lined up as if waiting for his hook, practically leaping into his basket.
"Wow, Grandpa, you're amazing!" Kaoru's eyes widened in awe at the sight.
"Hahaha! Now you see how great your grandpa really is," Kyōsuke boasted shamelessly, his loud laugh echoing through the secluded valley beside the waterfall.
---
Meanwhile, far away in the vast reaches of space, a lone figure stepped calmly through a glowing portal.
"Phew, at last, the treasure hunt begins," the figure muttered — and it was none other than Uchiha Kyōsuke.
The only difference was, the Kyōsuke back in the Shinobi World was merely a shadow clone, while this one, exploring the stars, was his true self.
During the Chunin Exams incident, Kyōsuke had given everything to take down a formidable foe, resulting in his absence during the precious years of his children's upbringing.
Though he rarely spoke of it, he carried a heavy guilt in his heart.
This time, he had sworn not to make the same mistake. No matter what happened, he would stay by his granddaughter's side, even if it could not completely erase his regrets.
So before departing, he had created a shadow clone, infused with such incredible power that it would endure for centuries, even millennia, without dissipating.
Once the clone was released, all of its memories would return to the original Kyōsuke. In essence, it would be no different from him being there with his family.
Protecting the Shinobi World was undeniably important, but Kyōsuke knew he could not allow that duty to take away the most precious things in his life.
He had always been very clear about what truly mattered in life.
"Now then," he said, arms stretched wide as he faced the endless cosmos, "my journey begins."
Though space lacked any medium for sound to travel, he still struck a bold and flamboyant pose, declaring proudly, "I'm going to be the man who becomes the King of the Universe."
After this brief moment of ridiculous flair, Kyōsuke summoned a Wood clone. Then, shrinking down his true body, he perched himself on its shoulder.
There was no reason for him to tire himself out during long-distance travel. That was precisely what clones were for.
Especially Wood Style clones. They did not transfer fatigue back to the original, making them the perfect laborers.
Kyōsuke sighed wistfully. "If my past self had known Wood Style clones, I could've worked ten jobs a day and lived the good life."
With that idle thought, Kyōsuke drifted into sleep, leaving the clone standing awkwardly in the void.
If not for a thread of rationality, the clone might very well have crushed his original with a finger.
"Oh well," it muttered. "Consider this the joy of a nine-nine-six work schedule."
And with that, the clone began the next phase of its task — space teleportation.
Each flicker of its body advanced it over three thousand kilometers, a silent flash against the stars.
Upon reaching the limit of its sensory range, the clone would locate a habitable planet and deploy a few cloned slug scouts.
These small creatures were remarkably resilient, capable of surviving in even the harshest environments.
With them spread across the stars, Kyōsuke could create long-distance spatial anchors.
By linking these slugs, he would be able to open portals across countless light-years in the blink of an eye.
The journey out might take time, but the return would be instant.
After an unknown passage of time, Kyōsuke finally awoke from his slumber.
Opening his eyes, he found himself facing a planet bathed in an ominous purple glow.
"There you are," he murmured, a touch of solemnity in his voice.
The Village Hidden in the Stars was a mysterious shinobi village nestled deep within the Land of Bears.
A meteorite had fallen there two centuries ago, and the village had grown around it, earning its celestial name.
The village's ninjas trained around the fallen star, which emitted radiation and reacted uniquely with chakra.
They practiced a technique known as the "Mysterious Peacock Method," which allowed them to transform chakra into a variety of offensive forms.
It sounded somewhat similar to Kinshiki's technique. However, while Kinshiki could only create weapons, these shinobi were capable of forging a wide array of chakra-based attacks.
Tempting as it sounded, the meteorite emitted high levels of radiation, posing immense danger to human bodies over long-term exposure.
But to Kyōsuke, such radiation was meaningless. With his current strength, no toxic substance could harm his true body.
Nor would it endanger the hungry, ever-growing Ten-Tails he carried.
He dismissed the Wood Style clone with a flick of his will and took a single step forward.
In the next moment, he descended into the dark purple planet.
His advanced sensory abilities quickly alerted him — this planet held a vast number of powerful chakra signatures.
Just how powerful?
A rough scan told him that at least ten individuals on the planet possessed chakra on the level of Super Kage.
Several among them were so strong that even Kyōsuke furrowed his brow slightly.
It was clear now. Any alien world that could thrive and grow this strong was not to be underestimated.
If even a single meteorite from this place had created a powerful shinobi village in the Ninja World, one could only imagine the power of the original homeworld.
"Excellent. You have not disappointed me," Kyōsuke whispered with a pleased smile.
Had their strength fallen short and reduced the quality of the chakra fruit, that would have been the one thing he could not tolerate.
"Hmm, impressive sensory skills." Kyōsuke turned with a smile, locking his gaze on a group of figures rapidly approaching from three thousand kilometers away.
There were many — nearly a hundred.
Each one had the ability to fly, and a visible aura of chakra cloaked their bodies.
"Interesting," he said softly.
In no time, the group reached him. Thanks to his Six Paths-level mental prowess, Kyōsuke had already deciphered their language after just a few spoken phrases.
The newcomers introduced themselves as the "Seyou," the so-called "Observers of the Continent" in this region.
It was a role Kyōsuke did not fully understand, likely tied to the planet's unique social structure.
They spoke at length in their language, but Kyōsuke remained silent throughout, merely smiling faintly before suddenly speaking.
"So, have you finished surrounding me?"
The moment the words left his lips, the expression on Seyou's face changed dramatically. The others around him also became visibly tense.
In truth, this group of natives had been stalling for time from the very beginning.
This intruder had entered their "Shadow Star" without warning, and his intention to invade was already clear.
Had it not been for the terrifying power they sensed from within him, Seyou would have attacked the moment they met, instead of wasting time on words.
But now that their true intent had been exposed, a chill ran down their spines. It was clear this man was far more dangerous than they had imagined.
"There's no time! Attack!"
The moment those words were shouted, an overwhelming surge of dark purple chakra erupted from the group.
The sheer intensity of that power made even Kyōsuke furrow his brow in caution.
It was not that any single individual among them surpassed him in strength; what truly caught his attention was the fact that these enemies had managed to gather and merge their collective power with astonishing precision.
Worse still, from beyond the battlefield, wave after wave of energy continued to pour in, as though countless sources were channeling their strength into this growing force.
They were clearly attempting to bridge the gap between themselves and Kyōsuke through sheer accumulation of power.
A single Kage-level opponent meant nothing to him. Even facing three or five at once posed no real challenge.
But the moment ten or twenty of them united their chakra into one coordinated force, it instantly transformed into power comparable to a high-level Super-kage.
Even more troubling, this overwhelming power was not at its peak yet—it was still rising.
"I can't afford to wait any longer," Kyōsuke muttered.
In the next instant, his body vanished from its original position. He reappeared in a flash, moving forward with eyes as sharp as lightning and a presence so formidable it could silence the stars.
From what he had learned back in Hoshigakure, he had a general idea of how this alien planet's warriors might fight. He had assumed their style revolved around manipulating their manifested chakra, much like how some techniques worked in the Shinobi world.
At first, this assumption seemed reasonable. But when the real battle began, Kyōsuke came to a shocking realization.
These people weren't merely using the chakra within their bodies.
No, they had access to something far greater.
They could draw upon the chakra of the entire planet.
This world upon which he had landed wasn't just a planet—it was, in truth, a colossal "celestial meteorite."
It naturally emitted a peculiar type of chakra, and the humanoid beings living upon it had adapted to wield that energy as their own. It was as if the planet itself had become their weapon.
"I underestimated them," Kyōsuke thought grimly.
Even after shrinking himself down to microscopic size, he had still been unable to escape the celestial force's lock-on. Within a single moment, the energy gathered against him burst forth with a power akin to a nuclear detonation.
He was severely wounded in an instant, his body blasted apart and thrown into chaos. With great effort, he activated his space-time ninjutsu and escaped from the planet's surface, fleeing into the cold emptiness of space.
As he drifted among the stars, his mind began to piece things together. Now he understood why the Ōtsutsuki clan often operated in pairs or groups when exploring unknown worlds.
Even with god-like strength, even after reaching the level of the "Divine Flame", some enemies were still too powerful to face alone.
Even someone like Kaguya Ōtsutsuki herself might not have survived an attack like this.
Now that he had witnessed it firsthand, Kyōsuke knew for certain: the so-called "Shadow Star" was far from ordinary.
Its durability was simply absurd. If this level of attack had struck the Elemental Nations, it would have triggered a continental disaster, splitting mountains and shaking the very crust of the earth. But here? On this alien world? The ground had not even cracked.
"It's completely ridiculous," he muttered, his voice filled with disbelief.
Dragging his shattered body behind him, he slipped into the interior of a floating fragment of a meteor, tucking himself away for rest and recovery. This tiny, broken piece of rock became his temporary shelter in the vast vacuum.
As his Six Paths body began its process of regeneration, Kyōsuke cast his gaze toward the system panel hovering in his mind.
It had been a long time since he had initiated a full upgrade of himself.
Now was the time. He needed to grow stronger—much stronger.
