Chapter 162: Chapter 162 – I’m doing it for Joan

Earlier.

"Everyone out, there is a bomb," Alex and Dario yelled together, one of the doctors spoke hastily.

"There is a tunnel and the doors are bulletproof." He pointed at the door, Dario caught what he meant and opened it.

Turned out the entrance to the bulletproof tunnel was right at the theatre because those were the most vulnerable people in times of an emergency in a case of a mafia feud.

However, Alex had not forgotten his reason for coming in, so even as the doctors were rushing to the tunnel, he kept a close eye on the patient on the surgical table.

Her chances were slim, but it was better to try than to give up entirely.

"Find a way to keep the girl alive," he instructed, watching as the doctor pushed the operating table to the tunnel without disconnecting the tubes.

Mia was slid after some of the doctors had gone ahead, holding her carefully in the tunnel.

Being under general anesthesia, she had no idea about what was going on, but they hardly closed the entrance of the tunnel after Alex went in when the building went up in flames.

With the doors being bulletproof, it took time for the surgical theatre to go into flames, allowing them enough time to escape from the fire.

However, what they did not expect was for the tunnel to lead them to a different city by the time they made it out. The ride was almost like a train ride, away from the fire.

The original owner had made it in a way that should a feud occur, he could escape through the tunnel and appear in a different city, so the cops or FBI would not be able to trace their whereabouts and assume they were dead.

By the time they reached the end of the tunnel, Aiden was there with a helicopter, stunning Alex. "How did you know?" Alex asked, and Aiden chuckled.

"As soon as I heard the news, I knew there was something wrong and you couldn’t just die. This was the hospital I got treated at three years ago, so I know a few things," Aiden explained. Alex remembered when Aiden was shot by a gang back then.

Those two had survived hard times and always ended up together. "Quick. We have to get Mia to a hospital."

Aiden frowned. "What do I care for the bitch?" He shrugged, not caring as the doctors were trying to get Mia on the helicopter.

"Quick, I’m doing it for Joan," Alex said sternly. Aiden pursed his lips, slightly disappointed.

In the end, he helped them to the hospital with the chopper, and when they were finally alone, Dario spoke up.

"Finally, I meet Salvador."

Alex stiffened and turned to him, his expression dark. "What are you talking about?"

Dario remained calm. He was the leader of Salvador’s men, but as soon as Alex arrived, he was never allowed to make a suggestion.

This was not something any CEO could do except he was specially trained for it.

"We are on the same team, and it’s not as if I’m going to tell on you. From what I know, Alex is just a CEO, so how could you be so skillful? You literally took control of everything only experts could handle, and every instruction you gave was the best," he explained. Alex realized how he had acted on impulse, but there was a bomb, and lives would have been lost.

In that case, he could not care about being exposed. Those who deserved to die had been gunned down, and thanks to the bomb, their identities might not even be known.

Dario explained it further. "It makes me understand how you know every detail of the Kings and why you care so much about them. Also, you use your best friend to do most of the delicate communications."

Dario was honored to finally meet Salvador, though surprised he was a CEO. How the hell did he become a dangerous mafia don and also the CEO of Salvador’s men?

Well, that was a question for another day, not forgetting the fact that Alex had even pretended to be a cripple before.

His boss’s secret identities were quite scary, but Dario was glad to be on the side of the best.

Indeed, the reason they chose Dario was that he was smart, and as such, Alex did not dare to insult his intelligence by denying it.

"If word..." Alex was about to issue a warning when Dario shook his head. "I’m not stupid, and I see why you were so upset about Beauty. She’s your sister-in-law, so what do we do now? Should I return her?"

He was afraid now that the loose ends had been tied. Nancy was dearer to Alex’s heart than Dario imagined, so as much as he hated it, she had to be returned if Alex gave the order.

"She doesn’t want to return, so just continue training her, but she shouldn’t know who I am," Alex warned. Unfortunately for him, Dario had such a deep bond with Nancy, whom he now saw as his only daughter.

"You would have to kill me, Salvador..." he was saying when Alex cut in.

"Call me Alex." He was still undercover, and the fact that Dario knew did not mean anyone else should.

"You are right, but you will have to kill me, Alex. I don’t hide anything from Beauty, but trust me, I’m her best friend, and she would tell no one."

Clearly, Nancy is going to have her dream of knowing who Salvador was, including knowing that he was her brother-in-law and that her sister and mother were all alive.

"You will take the blame if anything goes wrong," Alex warned seriously. If he could not stop Dario from spilling the beans, the latter would have to take responsibility for his actions.

"Agreed, but I guess you know who is behind all this, right?" Dario asked, wondering how Alex was going to handle it.

This was his first time working with Alex, and it was because the victim was Joan, Alex’s wife.

For her, he did not care if his secret identity was revealed, as long as she was fine. Dario discerned the depth of Alex’s love for his wife.

"Yeah, Logan. I will handle it," Alex said with a cold expression.

Dario did not counter, since the culprit was Alex’s brother. As soon as they parted ways, Alex and Aiden left with the chopper to where they could get a car.

Afterward, they went straight to Logan’s house, but he wasn’t there. Only a note remained. As Alex read the note, his expression grew darker and darker.
