Chapter 187: Chapter 187 - Do you still want a divorce or...

"Daddy is back!"

Joanna was overwhelmed to see dozens of kids between the ages of two to ten swarming over Alex. The best thing was, they were calling him daddy.

When they arrived at the Manila airport, there was a driver waiting for them. Thinking they were going to lodge in a hotel or something, the driver drove to a big orphanage.

Joanna was amazed by how Alex knew the names of these kids by heart. It was clear they weren’t his biological children, but the affectionate way they related to each other spoke volumes.

"Edmund. I hope you are eating your veggies," he said to a boy around three years old. The latter nodded excitedly.

"Yes, Daddy, and I’ve been taking care of the little ones too," he replied. Joanna laughed. Edmund was so little, yet he was acting all responsible.

However, Joanna realized that this little boy shared the same name as Alex’s assistant, wondering if Alex named him and asked, "Does his name have anything to do with your personal assistant?"

Alex nodded, glad she could piece it together. "Everything about this boy is funded by my assistant. Aiden has his kids here as well as all my other men.

"I make it compulsory for every one of my staff to invest in a family in need."

Joanna was stunned. For as long as she knew, Salvador was heartless, so how could he do something like this?

"If you still don’t get it, most of these kids are victims. Some are children born to pregnant girls we rescued from drug lords or human traffickers. Some of them are victims of kidnaps, but we make sure they are orphans before keeping them here, unless they are willing to cut ties with their families and be declared dead wherever they hail from."

Joanna felt ashamed for not having trusted him all this while.

"Daddy, I learned to wear my pants correctly," another boy embraced Alex’s leg and reported. Alex ran his fingers through the boy’s hair.

"That is good. I brought some toys, but your tutors will give them to you later."

A little girl around the age of three embraced Alex. "Daddy, who is this woman? Is she our mommy?"

Alex stared lovingly at Joanna, not wanting to force it on her. "Yes, I’m your mommy," Joanna smiled and said, instinctively rubbing her stomach.

This was the most amazing thing she ever saw in her life. The orphanage was like no other, fully staffed and looking like a mansion. fгeewebnovёl.com

The kids looked healthy and smart, meaning they were well taken care of, but who wouldn’t. The workers here were being paid by Salvador, so they dared not mess things up.

"Can you guess who is funding this little princess?" Alex asked. Joanna stared at him with a look of confusion as he revealed.

"Your sister, Nancy." This girl was rescued recently by Nancy. Her parents had been murdered by a don. Nancy was still undergoing training but was moved by so much pity that she insisted on funding this girl from her allowances."

A joyful tear rolled down Joanna’s cheek as Alex introduced the kids to her one after the other before the staff.

"Wait, wasn’t this boy reported missing last year? The media even reported that he was kidnapped by Salvatore’s men," Joanna recalled, pointing at a seven-year-old boy. Alex smiled and replied.

"You got that right, and his name is Alex."

Joanna embraced him without permission. "I want to fund some of them. How do I go about it?"

Alex walked her to the administrative block and had her register her name. "As soon as we get a new child, we shall contact you to make the donation," the manager revealed. Joanna was extremely excited.

They shared meals with the kids, and even though Alex hadn’t informed them before coming, everything was well organized, and the food tasted good and nutritious.

"This feels like heaven," Joanna commented when she saw the kids on the various types of swings. The playground was so large and beautiful.

"I forgot to mention that most of the tutors are victims as well, and some also sponsor other kids from their allowances."

Joanna felt like Alice in Wonderland. At first, she was upset with Violet for easily trusting Alex after finding out he was Salvatore, but it was just as Violet said. She had more experience with men and could tell the good from the bad.

This had completely changed her perception of Alex and what Salvatore and his men were all about. At one point, Alex was saddened when they reached the rehabilitation department.

"Over here, there are victims of all kinds of abuse. They are still undergoing treatment and aren’t allowed to mingle with the rest until their treatments are over."

Joanna understood his pain. Just as the children here considered him their father, Alex considered them his children as well.

His love for them shone in his eyes whenever he interacted with them, and during those times, his powerful aura was all gone, and all she saw was a loving father.

"Alex, may I ask, does Nancy work here too?"

"No," Alex shook his head. "Nancy lives with my second in command, Dario. You must have met him before the fire. He treats her like a daughter, and because she took an interest in joining Salvatore’s men, she can’t live a normal life like falling in love and having kids. It’s a sacrifice she chose to make to protect others," he explained. Joanna was not surprised.

Nancy always loved to help and defend the less privileged. It was great to see her walk the path.

"But can I see her just once?" She asked. Alex nodded. "I will make the arrangement after our return. There were guest rooms at the orphanage for them to lodge in, and though neat and comfortable, it couldn’t be compared to Alex’s luxurious life.

"This feels like a honeymoon. It’s the best thing that’s happened to me," Joanna said seriously. Alex smiled and asked her. "So, do you still want a divorce or...?
