Chapter 226: A Rest For The Beasts

The Colosseum ,was engulfed in a sense of madness as the spectacle unfolded, causing screams to echo through the sky, mingling with the lively crowd. Dora found himself facing yet another half-giant, a remarkable breed of humans known for their extraordinary resilience.

However, in the face of the ultimate destroyer, their defense proved futile, turning into a mere torment. With one strike to the ground and another to the air, the colossal man failed to lay a finger on Dora, as the morning star turned him into a masterpiece, and then...

"KREUGH!!!" The ball of death fell into his neck.

The giant fell, bleeding to death, his opponent raising his weapon to the sky and acclaimed by the audience.

Later, a similar scene occurred, with an entrance that excited the audience, Mercy reached the center of the arena where she materialized her scythe. In front of her, was a slender gladiator, holding a spear.

The battle lasted barely 10 seconds, Mercy parried the first few blows in an attempt to put on a show but when her feet hit the other side of the battlefield the gladiator fell to pieces.

Another cheer from the public for the pretty young girl affectionately nicknamed Death.

Finally at the end of the day, as the sun was setting, it was Lilith’s turn, and as she had warned Dora, her fight consisted of a bet where she would face five opponents.

Under Wrath’s pressure, the 6 warriors lashed out and jumped on each other, but unlike Mercy in her first fight, Lilith was built with a powerful body.

A vertical smash, a jump in the sky followed by a hammer throw, and 2 gladiators reached the beyond.

She was about to land on another gladiator’s spear but in an instant, she pushed the tip of the spear with her foot and landed on his head.

Legs locking his head, she whirled around him, allowing his face to see his back and thus his soul to meet the sky.

She then retrieved her hammer and delivered rapid blows with the agility of a swordsman.

The 5 warriors turned into memories, and Lilith sent the audience to another level of madness.

Following this, like Mercy before, she asked to spend a night with Dora, while he would exert his pressure on her.

"You know, I said I don’t mind, but if you continue to bet like this, there may be a problem."

"You didn’t complain so much when it was Mercy..." Lilith pouted.

Dora scratched the back of his head before giving her a pat on the head.

"I mean... ok, I get what you want, I’ll leave it until we make you an Avatar too, then don’t use the bets anymore! I want us to stand off, but not that much."

The girl, usually very impetuous, was behaving strangely, her mind going numb.

Dora opened his dimensional room and once inside, sat on the bed with his arms crossed.

Lilith rubbed her finger, embarrassment growing, far from Wrath’s pressure, she was losing the confidence she had earlier, good news for Dora.

"Alright, come here, let’s not waste time."

"Hey?!... like that?.... I... uh... I shouldn’t... I’m..."

A little annoyed, Dora narrowed his eyes, his smile widening.

"Don’t worry, I’m just going to release my pressure, nothing more. After all, in my head you are still the same little Lilith... I would never touch..."

The next moment, the ceiling was in his view, Lilith choking him by the collar.

"Again, call me that one more time, and I swear I’ll tear you apart!"

Dora let out a small laugh, his eyes shining bright.

"That’s the spirit."

He placed his hand on her cheek and unleashed a pressure beyond anything the girl would ever have been exposed to.

In the dimensional room, time passed more slowly, and therefore, during the entire night they spent there, Lilith received about a day’s exposure to the pressure of a Sin.

With all the time in the world, Dora increased the power of his pressure for faster adaptation, causing the girl to lose consciousness after just 5 minutes.

The second day passed like this, with Lilith furious to realize that nothing had happened between her and Dora.

On the other hand, Mercy kept her eyes fixed on Dora, her own pressure making her hungry for another experience.

The two girls waged a silent war hoping to get a piece of the boy who radiated a new warmth, making them too overwhelmed by his emotion to understand how his change was too abnormal.

"I want another bet," Mercy said during their lunch.

Dora dropped a piece of bread he was eating and massaged his sinuses.

"What are you? A horse?"

Iris spilled her water again, while Lilith slammed the table and stood up.

"No, I’m already with him tonight, there’s no room for you!"

"What? You were already together yesterday, what’s the prob? He’s not yours."

"Yeah, but we didn’t... we did... well whatever, I want another chance!"

They came face to face, arguing, while Dora began to wonder if he should just give this task to Beta.

The atmosphere had changed drastically since their arrival, a good atmosphere had been established and Mercy and Lilith’s relationship with Dora had drastically improved.

However, for Iris, one lesson she grew accustomed to in this world was that the most beautiful flower always hid a poisonous snake.

Later that day as their new routine unfolded she observed their interaction and as they had warned Mercy challenged Dora again and won, Lilith put on another show with better handling of Wrath’s pressure, and at night, both joined Dora for another spectacular night of their new routine.

Left alone, Iris and Morgiana were in Morgiana’s room. Morgiana sat on her bed, looking at the ceiling.

"Imagine if after that he left us alive... maybe two pseudo-Avatars could stop the Twilight of the Gods? Maybe we have already saved the world and we just have to wait?... Imagine... we should just do it, wait like this, and it will all be over... it’s like being on sick leave and getting paid."

"Yeah... now in a more realistic situation, don’t you think it’s weird that he’s trying so hard to make them pseudo-Avatars?"

Iris stopped cleaning her sword, looking at her reflection. Behind, Morgiana let out a deep sigh.

"Is it so bad to just ask? I just want to sleep and when I wake up everything will be over... I’m not even in his plan, you don’t need me, right?"

"...if Freya could hear you... Well, I’m not in on his plan either, he’s only focusing on Mercy and Lilith. But... don’t you think he’s getting weird?"

Morgiana let her body fall onto the bed.

"Do you realize how little that narrows it down?"

"I mean... look, I don’t know why, but he looks different. First of all, there are six Doras, right? And we know the one in control isn’t this Dora with us, but an evil Dora."

"It’s narrow it down too, very little."

"...Well, secondly, his goal is to kill the other Sin Avatars, so while he keeps an eye on Wrath, the other two get stronger, and Zuri keeps an eye on our friends. They want to get rid of the Sin Avatars, but they also want to transform us into pseudo-Avatars... but then why is he keeping me out? Why not use me too.. what changed him suddenly..."

"Hey... Iris, aren’t you tired of this?"

The former student council president looked at Morgiana who turned to the side of the bed.

"You know... when I started, I just wanted to be an adventurer... like in the books. I wanted to be strong, get into a big guild, make a lot of money, and have a good life. That’s all I wanted. I didn’t even have to be the strongest or the richest... just enough to live."

She hunched her back, her voice sounding more and more tired.

"But now... I feel like... I just want to sleep. When I wake up, I want to sleep, when I finish my lunch, I want to sleep... if I could... I would just run away now to the boat... with the others... but if I do that... if I can get to them now... I’ll force them to get the hell out of here... even if you and the others stay here."

Iris observed her for a moment, Morgiana was once a formidable tower of defense, a mature spirit in Shining Sword, but this was the first or second time she seemed so broken.

"...I’m really tired Iris...I just want to stop fighting and sleep all day."

"...I understand."

The two girls remained silent the rest of the night. It was their new life on this earth, their new reality, the only mystery of which was knowing when it would end. In the Colosseum, Wrath was releasing his pressure as usual, but this time his head was turned towards the moon.

By day, the sun shone the red color of pain, but at night, for the first time, the moon added a new layer to this pattern: a deep pink and purple.

"...Um...so it’s happening?"

His laughter echoed in the deserted streets of the city, engulfing the sleeping citizen, the trio engaged in a fierce fight, and the surroundings where the monsters were dying endlessly in the face of Gamma and Omega.

Somewhere even further away, in the realm of the elves, a woman sat before the statue of the elf holding an orb and watched the moon.

A smile appearing on her lips, she whispered.

"Finally...He’s here."
