Pokémon Court-Chapter 523: Super Festival
Chapter 523 - Super Festival
June's research team was affiliated with the Kalos Region's Ecological Protection Association...
When it comes to restoring an ecologically damaged area, June has extensive experience and has put her knowledge into practice multiple times. Considering her age, this is undoubtedly an admirable achievement.
However, given her foundation as a "true Breeder at the age of 10," it is only natural that she has made a name for herself in ecological conservation over the past four years. After all, she already had a solid base to build upon.
Terrance, who was in the same profession as her back then, had now also achieved great success and become a Gym Leader.
The two interviewers listened to June Joy analyze the situation of Fallarbor Woods alongside Terrance. Their eyes were opened to new perspectives, and they were especially surprised by the confidence displayed on June Joy's face.
Despite her young age, June had always been on the front lines of ecological conservation, tirelessly working. In contrast, the top students who graduated from Mossdeep University had indeed absorbed a great deal of theoretical knowledge, but whether they could truly apply what they had learned and translate it into actual skills remained to be seen.
"No problem. I will design a comprehensive plan. Even if the execution team consists entirely of rookies, as long as they can understand my plan, there won't be any issues."
June continued, "I will draft the plan together with the research team. As long as we have a detailed understanding of Fallarbor Woods, there shouldn't be any problems..."
After careful consideration, June did not see this as a difficult challenge. In Kalos, due to the destruction of ecological chains in certain areas, species migration and species introduction were tasks they had frequently undertaken. Fallarbor Woods was not very large, nor was it particularly biodiverse. While such development projects might not be common in Hoenn, in Kalos, they were routine.
"Mr. Laika, how about we review the previous job applications once more?" With June Joy's arrival, Terrance felt like he had found a pillar of support and breathed a sigh of relief.
"That sounds good." Interviewer Laika nodded in agreement.
...
"So, this is where the Pokémon stay inside Fallarbor Gym?"
Afterward, inside Fallarbor Gym, Terrance led June on a tour, bringing her to the back garden where the Pokémon resided.
"Yes. How do you think the design looks?"
June glanced around the surroundings before finally fixing her gaze on a particular plant.
This plant had only recently started growing. Its leaves were needle-shaped, with thick leaf flesh, dark green in color, and lightly covered in a white powdery coating, giving it a rather peculiar appearance.
"This..." June was slightly surprised.
"This is Chimera Leaf," Terrance said.
He looked at June in surprise. The seed of this plant had been a gift from Teacher Teresa. It is said that the leaf flesh had exceptionally high nutritional value for Bug-type Pokémon. Terrance hadn't expected that, during her tour of the Gym, the first thing June would notice was this plant.
"I know what it is. I'm just curious... where did you get it?" June Joy asked in astonishment.
"Uh, is Chimera Leaf that special?" Terrance asked.
"Chimera Leaf originates from the Kalos region. Over there, it is classified as one of the rarest species. Any location where wild Chimera Leaf exists must be strictly registered with the Ecological Protection Association," June explained. "Once this plant matures, it becomes irresistibly tempting to Bug-type Pokémon. If it grows in the wild, it could even trigger intraspecies conflicts among them."
"That serious?" Terrance was startled.
Intraspecies conflict refers to battles that occur among individuals of the same Pokémon species due to competition for food, habitat, or other survival resources.
Such conflicts are quite common in nature, but from the way June spoke, it seemed that the conflicts caused by Chimera Leaf were far from ordinary.
"Generally speaking, as long as the number of Chimera Leaf plants is strictly controlled, it won't lead to particularly severe consequences... But if left unchecked, it could become the catalyst for an entire region's ecological collapse."
"Even in the Kalos region, this plant is strictly regulated. That's why I was so surprised to see Chimera Leaf in your garden. But don't worry, if it's grown intentionally as food for domesticated Pokémon, there won't be any issues," June explained.
"I see..." Terrance hadn't realized that the Chimera Leaf Teacher Teresa had given him had such a significant background. The plant's description even explicitly mentioned that its seeds should never be allowed to spread into the wild.
"For a Bug-type Gym, this plant is practically the perfect choice."
June exclaimed in admiration, as if in her eyes, the entire layout of Terrance's garden paled in comparison to the ingenuity of a single Chimera Leaf.
Terrance quickly cleared his throat.
"Let's take a look at the Pokémon breeding situation inside the Gym."
Although June had left the Breeder field for four years, she was, after all, a member of the Joy Family. She had once suppressed Terrance during the Breeder Examination. With someone like her, Terrance had plenty of topics to discuss.
...
Meanwhile.
A Grand Festival event between Trainers and Coordinators was officially finalized by the Contest Committee, the Indigo League, the Hoenn League, and the Sinnoh League. The date was set for three months later, in the month following the conclusion of the Junior Cup.
As Terrance was busy arranging Gym and Fallarbor Woods related matters, this festival event caused a significant stir.
Aside from the regular Grand Festival and League Conferences, there were very few large-scale official events like this.
Hoenn, Sootopolis City, by a lake.
This lake was the only natural lake preserved in Sootopolis City. In a city surrounded by the sea, this lake had, in recent years, gradually shifted from a public space to becoming one of Sootopolis Gym's exclusive training grounds.
At this moment, at the lake's edge, a young man with turquoise-colored long hair sat quietly, fishing with a rod in hand.
The young man wore a smile, dressed in a sailor's outfit. He looked like an artist, exuding elegance even in the way he fished...
Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps approached. A uniformed young man ran over, panting. "Master Wallace, it's time to massage the Pokémon."
"Shh~" Wallace spoke softly.
"Uh..." The apprentice of Sootopolis Gym wore a bitter expression.
He didn't understand. He couldn't understand at all. He had asked before, but Wallace had only said that this was an important form of training.
However, despite looking up various resources and asking many people, he couldn't figure out the purpose of this so-called "training."
It always gave him the feeling that there was something wrong with his own intelligence.
"The Super Festival between Coordinators and Trainers is just four months away. As a Contest Master... how can Mr. Wallace remain so calm?!"
Looking at Wallace, who seemed lost in thought, the Gym apprentice couldn't help but feel an inexplicable frustration. He and Wallace weren't that far apart in age, so why was there such a vast difference between them?
