POSSESSION: The Hidden Omega In All Alphas' Academy [BL]-Chapter 168: He was an Alpha, right?
Chapter 168: Chapter 168: He was an Alpha, right?
Inside the magnificent dining hall of the Agastya mansion, Dolemort had the first seat of the wide-spread dining table and Vanessa was seated on the far opposite end of the table. The atmosphere in the hall was serious, as none of them spoke a word first. Moreover, their table was filled with light breakfast cuisine and two maids were serving them the breakfast.
Right next to Dolemort’s seat, Mr. Clark stood tall, holding a tablet as he was conveying his schedule planned for the rest of the day. Dolemort was silently focused on buttering his toast while listening to Mr. Clark, but on the other hand, Vanessa seemed a bit fidgety.
Dressed in an exquisite peach-colored silk gown with heavy makeup on her face to make her look younger compared to her age, she was fiddling with her fingertips without touching the breakfast platter.
After Mr. Clark was finished conveying his schedule, as if she was waiting for the chance, Vanessa mumbled with a small cough to clear her dry throat, "I...have something to say."
Dolemort coldly lifted his piercing gaze on her face, which made her wince a little, before she pursed her lips, "I have...found a new doctor who can help me with conceiving for you. I have already met the lady doctor and she told me...the procedure might be lengthy, but the success rate is higher in my case, since...I am a dominant omega."
Mr. Clark frowned his brows while pushing his glass frame over his nose ridge, looking a little vexed from his expression after he heard her. But Dolemort didn’t show a change of expression and calmly took a small sip of orange juice, before he deepened his voice, "I think it’s high time you should admit that you’ve failed to give me an heir, Vanessa. Barren trees can’t bear fruits, no matter how hard you try."
"B-But...I am sure, this time I can definitely succeed." As if his words had made her feel a bit offended, she gritted her jaws while conversing in a stiff tone, "I...have already spoken to this doctor about my miscarriage from 13 years ago, and...she has assured me that she’ll help me with the situation—"
"If only you hadn’t been stupid enough to not watch your steps and stumble down the stairs, by now we would’ve been already blessed with another child." Intervening in between her words, Dolemort’s tone sounded vexed when he darted a discontented gaze towards Vanessa before he continued.
"I guess, I must’ve thought highly of you who could give me a second heir, despite being a dominant omega. Even though you’re my fated pair, I will always openly express my disappointment towards you, Vanessa. Besides, I have already given up on the idea of creating a family with you, so you should just do the same."
After all these years of her marriage with Dolemort, publicly, they had always pretended to be a happy couple. But there hadn’t been a day when she wasn’t harshly criticized by him after losing that child on that day at the mountain shrine.
Despite knowing it was all Zenith’s doing, Vanessa didn’t feel the strength to convey the truth to Dolemort who might get infuriated instead, assuming her trying to shuffle the blame on his small child from years ago. Besides, there were no eye-witnesses, thus, Vanessa was bound to digest the truth for years, though every year, she was hellbent enough trying to get pregnant with his child, especially during her heat.
But today, hearing Dolemort criticize her openly in front of the maids and Mr. Clark, she felt irked enough to protest.
"I-It wasn’t my fault on that day! I was..." Her words trailed off when she realized Dolemort’s ash-brown eyes were turning darker, while fixated on her. She had always felt scared of his overwhelming aura, to the extent of pondering despite the existence of a mate bond between them, why didn’t he ever bother to show her a little bit of minimum affection, especially after Zorina’s death?
"If it wasn’t your fault, then whose?" Crossing his broad muscular arms over his chest, Dolemort’s voice sounded very gruff when he charged her, "Are you being shameless now to shuffle the blame on someone else when it was purely your fault that we lost our child?"
"I...I...just..."
"It’s even pointless trying to talk to you." As she started stuttering from overwhelming anxiety, Dolemort frowned his brows as he uttered, exhaling a heavy sigh.
His eyes were darkened with disappointment when for a few seconds, he stared blankly at the wooden ceiling of their lavish dining hall, "Sometimes watching your clumsiness makes me realize it’s better not to create a family with you. Every year around this time of Zorina’s death anniversary, I can’t help but feel a bit grateful towards her for leaving me with an heir, even though Zenith had been always a troublesome brat. But at least...he’s not a klutz like you, Vanessa."
His words were too harsh to stir an uncomfortable palpitation inside her, as Vanessa didn’t intend to stay there any longer to bear those insults. But she didn’t have the courage enough to leave the table before Dolemort since his domineering aura had always kept everyone in their toes.
Lifting a tissue up, while wiping his mouth, Dolemort addressed in a cold grumble towards Vanessa as if he had already figured out her hesitation to leave the table. "Zenith will be back to the mansion for the occasion of Zorina’s death anniversary, and during the time of his stay, make sure not to cause any trouble around him. Well, as my son, I know he has inherited his vicious nature from me, so, don’t come crying to me later onwards if you end up getting on his nerves. Did you get my word, Vanessa?"
"Until now...I have never once treated Young Master with disrespect, or have made him uncomfortable, despite he’s the one who has openly showed his hatred towards me." Gritting her jaws, her voice sounded a bit disdainful when she conveyed the emotions she felt inside, glowering at her husband.
"So...I believe this time too I won’t cause any trouble for him, because I don’t wish to be humiliated like this...when I at least hold the position of your fated pair in front of the world, Mr. Dolemort."
~ PHONE RINGING~
The moment Vanessa finished expressing her displeasure, Mr. Clark’s phone rang aloud, breaking the anxious ambience widespread across the dining hall. Quickly stepping aside from Dolemort, he saw the ID and realized it was one of his men who was instructed to inform him whenever any peculiar incident occurred.
Right now, watching his ID flash on the screen, Mr. Clark felt a bit nervous inside as he answered in a lower voice, "Yes?"
"Sir! We have urgent information to convey!" The manly voice from the other side of the call sounded very anxious, as he spoke with a gulp, "It’s about Young Master!"
Just hearing the mention about Zenith turned him pale from concern, but still trying to keep a stoic face to not catch Dolemort’s suspicion, Mr. Clark mumbled, "What happened?"
"Young Master has suddenly transferred 3% of his main stocks from Lumina Pharmaceuticals under Dr. Jin’s name. He’s a world-renowned cardiologist, and from the information that we have gathered, he had urgently summoned him from overseas to a small town Bethel. Upon investigating further, we have confirmed that it wasn’t due to Young Master’s health issues, but most probably, he has done this for a weak female omega patient."
"What?" Furrowing his brows in disbelief after hearing that man’s mumble, Mr. Clark couldn’t find the right words to express the palpitation going inside him, when he uttered, "Y-Young Master...helped...an...o-omega patient? Who’s she?"
"An old, poor lady in her late 40s, with serious health ailments. This is what we have gathered from the investigation. However, it doesn’t seem like she was one of Young Master’s previous sleeping partners—"
"Don’t you dare to think of such a rubbish assumption!" Hearing the crazy presumption about Zenith, Mr. Clark couldn’t suppress his protectiveness for Zenith, but made sure Dolemort wouldn’t catch any clue from his words as he lowered his voice, "Young Master never had such kind of awful preferences towards older women. Besides, it’s the first time I have heard him doing such a crazy thing...when did he transfer the shares to that doctor?"
"By today early morning, Sir. We were also shocked about the abrupt processing, and figured out you weren’t aware of it, Sir."
"Ah...fuck!" Facepalming himself with a heavy sigh while facing his broad back towards Dolemort, Mr. Clark gritted his jaws while anxiously thinking inside, ’That stupid brat Barnes...what the fuck he’s been doing there, by not conveying such important information to me? This is the damn reason why I had ordered him to stay around Zenith inside the academy!
’What the hell would have happened if Master had heard it first? No...I can’t let such a possibility arise, not when I know there’s been always a reason why Young Master acts, unlike his usual self! But...Wait...don’t tell me...
’Is this all happening because of that blue-eyed pretty boy’s involvement with Young Master Zenith? But why would he bother to go this far...for a strong, Alpha like him? That boy...was an Alpha...right?’
