Chapter 608: Entering Emberwood

The carriages came from Emberwood, the city of the Foxkin, pulled by wyverns. For a moment, Kent thought the wyverns were the real deal.

However, Dori’s words shut down those thoughts, which then led him to wonder just how real arrays can be.

It just didn’t make any sense. The arrays he knew were mainly conjured into shields, formations, and other structures, not something this complex and almost tangible.

Almost real?

They are perhaps real, considering they are producing the sounds real wyverns make, and adding to that, they also have the natural reactions that a real wyvern would have.

They are basically the real deal, and Kent just couldn’t wrap his mind around it.

But when they landed—or more like when they approached them and hovered before them—he scanned them using his enchanted eyes, and the results were not what he had expected.

⟦Name: Animated Arrays (Wyvern Mounts)⟧

⟦Grade: Tier 15⟧

⟦Description: Animated Arrays drawn by Array Emperor Ashfur, one of the only three Array Emperors in Fedora. Using complex runes and symbols, he created animated beasts that act and behave like real beasts.

The Wyvern Mounts are comparable to Tier 14 True beasts.⟧

’Well, that is just classic, isn’t it, Dori?’ Kent asked, and Dori smiled.

⟪He is a rather good array master. Perhaps you should let big sister Alina intern with him for a few weeks; she might just surprise you.

After all, as an Array Emperor, he can draw between Tier 15 and 17. And in case you don’t know, one of those arrays would be enough to wipe out the entirety of Sonox.⟫

Kent didn’t say much and just watched as a Spirit Emperor, a rather handsome young man, walked out from the leading carriage, wearing a smile on his face as his eyes landed on Dori.

For some reason, Kent didn’t like that smile. It looked perverted, which begs the question: were his eyes deceiving him simply because he was overprotective of Dori, or is the bastard truly a pervert?

The answer remains unknown, but he has his eyes on the bastard. Though he can’t even think of having the means to kill him, he can always use one of his many overpowered treasures to make him regret his life decisions.

"Lady Tala, glad to see you again," the man said, his smile still in place.

’This bastard,’ Kent cursed him, but couldn’t say it out loud.

The bastard in front of him was stronger in terms of strength, cultivation, speed, and mind. Though his soul was protected, that wasn’t an open invitation to ask for a beating.

"General Raynar, glad to see you too," Dori replied before turning to Kent and Sword King Shawn. "This is my brother Kent and Uncle Shawn."

The general didn’t seem to care much about Kent and Uncle Shawn, but thanks to Dori’s importance to his people, he was forced to give a polite smile before shifting back to Dori.

Kent smirked inwardly and promised to let Kaizo punch this bastard to oblivion. Though Kent was weak, if he put his mind to it, he could kill the bastard.

After all, he had created a sword move that he couldn’t use now if he didn’t want to kill himself in the process. However, he now had a counter, even if he were to die.

Elaine now had the power of life and death, and as such, she could bring him back. So he knew he could use it at least once, and that alone was a guaranteed killing move, so the bastard could continue to act smug.

"We would like to have an audience with the king, so if you don’t mind, escort us back to the city," Dori said, and General Raynar nodded.

"Come on in," he gestured forward, calling the second carriage that came with him. "Your brother and uncle can take that one since this one is more cramped for the four of us."

Kent could see the sneer at the corner of General Raynar’s mouth, but he knew this wasn’t the time to do anything. Though he also wouldn’t want the general to have the last laugh.

"Actually, we brought our own carriage." As petty as Kent was, he wouldn’t back down when it came to the battle of who had the last laugh, so he brought out his golden carriage that immediately brightened the sky.

Though a Tier 13 array protected the carriage being offered, the golden carriage looked fancier than the ones being offered, so naturally, Kent won this one.

"You can lead the way, General Raynar," Dori said, hiding her smile. She knew what her master was doing and why it was petty; she couldn’t help liking this side of him.

General Raynar could only nod, hide the anger in his eyes, and lead the way. Kent, Dori, and Uncle Shawn took the golden carriage.

Inside, all sounds were cut off, so not even General Raynar could hear what was being said in there.

Once they were inside, Uncle Shawn smiled, "I didn’t know you were this petty, Kent."

Kent smiled and brushed his hair with his hand. "What can I say, that bastard pisses me off."

Dori and Uncle Shawn smiled, hearing that. Although he acted like a child, Kent was, to some extent, a child.

In his memories of Jest, he had only reviewed up to when he was 32 years old, and in his past life on Earth, he was in his mid-thirties. Compared to the average adult in a cultivation world, he was but a child.

A few minutes later, they entered the city’s borders, which were actually the yellow maple forest protected by the Tier 16 arrays drawn by the Array Emperor Ashfur.

Thankfully, with General Raynar leading the way, they quickly passed through and entered the polished city. It was one with grandeur.

The buildings were made of the finest wood, protected by millions of arrays and formations. Most were made purely of arrays. The air was fresh and natural.

If Earth could get this air, perhaps the average adult’s lifespan would move to 150 years. But the place was nice and clean, with thousands of houses lining the area.

From what Kent could observe, there were also stores and fancy restaurants that served better food than most of the ones he had seen in Vastport city.

"This place is nice..."

They flew toward the inner section of the city, toward the king’s palace, while attracting as much attention as possible.
