Primordial God Of Time-Chapter 37: Fighting The Corrupted...
Chapter 37: Fighting The Corrupted...
The sound of their clash had already awakened the others. They hid behind a tree, silently watching the intense battle between Kranos and the mysterious man. Some of them were confused, but none dared to speak or even breathe too loudly, afraid the man might notice them. From the fact that he was fighting kranos they could guess that the man was an enemy.
When they saw Kranos slash the man’s hand apart, they were elated. But in the next moment, their expressions showed a look of horror seeing that the man’s hand reattached itself, tendrils squirming like worms knitting it back together.
...
Kranos and the man continued exchanging blows. A space slash rippled through the air, aiming for the man’s head, but he tilted just in time to dodge it. The next moment, nearly twenty tentacles burst from beneath his skin. Before Kranos could react, they all struck at once.
Kranos immediately shifted into a defensive position, struggling against the overwhelming barrage of tentacles. With a swing of his sword, he parried the first tentacle that came lunging at him. He twisted his wrist cutting off the second one, then his figure flashed rapidly as he slashed at the others.
Just as he began gaining the upper hand, the next moment, before kranos could react, he saw another tentacle aiming for his head. He instantly knew he couldn’t block it, nor could he teleport in time. There’s only one way...
Pause!
Kranos muttered inwardly, then quickly connected his foundation to the time surrounding the attack. Instantly, time froze for a split second but that was all Kranos needed. He turned around and slashed at the tentacle, cutting it off. He turned to face the man once again as soon as he was done swiftly severing all the remaining tentacles.
"What impressive abilities." the man couldn’t help but praise; he was truly shocked and amazed at kranos talent! He now understood why the master wanted kranos to become its subordinate; with such skills, in no time kranos would undoubtedly become a terrifying expert.
"Kid, I’m giving you one last chance. Join our ranks," the man said coldly. Previously he had been acting on orders, but now he didn’t want to see a genius like Kranos perish.
Kranos didn’t reply to him, he had a plan in mind. He believed he’d figured out the man’s weakness. If things went smoothly, then kranos would undoubtedly emerge victorious in this terrific battle. His figure immediately vanished silently and appeared beside the man, his sword aiming for the man’s throat.
Seeing kranos strike at him, the man sighed inwardly. the next moment, his longsword moved to block kranos’ attack, but he was shocked the next instant because he realized he couldn’t block kranos attack, he was horrified. What kind of attack is this?
Rewind, kranos muttered inwardly. He rewound the man’s means of defense but of course that wasn’t enough to kill the man. Everything depended on his next series of moves, they would decide the outcome of the battle.
Accelerate, kranos muttered inwardly. His sword gleamed, and his body moved at an insane speed, drawing upon every ounce of his elemental core, pushing his cultivation to its limit. He activated a god-like burst of power.
Soon a series of afterimages appeared. The villagers could only see a blur, however, the next moment the man who was engaged in a battle with kranos burst apart into blood mist. Though it wasn’t truly blood mist, kranos’ sword strike was too fast, cutting apart the man in countless pieces, turning him into fine cubes that were extremely small.
Kranos stood there for a moment but seeing the man dissolve into a wisp of purplish goo, he knew his bet had paid off. Previously, while he was battling with the man, his thoughts couldn’t help but think back to the Corruption Gu worm and what the man had said about it, that it was a source of strength.
Kranos guessed that it then must have been the source of the man’s strength, since he couldn’t pinpoint the exact location of the Curruption Gu worm in the man’s body he decided to cut him into tiny bits, that way wherever the Gu worm was it would definitely be destroyed.
It was a risky plan. If it had failed, he would’ve been forced to fall back on his second option—taking Ross and escaping. After all, with his mastery of the space element, how could the man possibly match him in speed?
Kranos let out a deep breath. He was truly exhausted in this life-and-death battle, but thanks to it, he was better able to coordinate his sword, space, and time techniques. He could feel his instincts sharpening greatly. He sat down and began to recover his mana. He had truly expended quite a bit in this battle; any more and he would have to fully depend on his time path completely to win the battle.
He couldn’t help but wish he had already comprehended the third rank of the Time Dao. With that, he could have frozen the man and dissected him slowly to find and destroy the Gu Worm. Unfortunately, such a feat wasn’t possible yet—and with villagers watching, he would’ve had to eliminate them afterward, including Ross... though only after he had gotten to the safe haven first.
Kranos could feel his dantian slowly refilling. He could faintly feel it had expanded by quite a bit, in a day or two he should be able to break through. Soon ross and the villagers came up but seeing kranos resting they didn’t dare disturb him. they still hadn’t recovered from the shock of the battle!
finding places to sit down, they decided to wait for kranos to finish recovering before they continued on their journey. This battle had been an eye-opener for them on how strong kranos was; he also had a ’secret technique’ that could increase his speed drastically in a short amount of time.
If kranos used such an attack on them, they wouldn’t even know how they died. At that thoughts they all glanced at each other and shivered in fear...
...
Meanwhile, deep within a dark cave pulsating with purplish tendrils of malevolent gas, three black-robed figures stood before a pool of seething, purplish darkness.
At this moment a deep voice that seemed to resonate from heaven and earth into their soul resounded in the cave. "Number 4 is dead... killed by that boy."
