Chapter 234: A rivals debut [1]

Rivals, a special character for every story there is, a side character debuting to be stronger than the main character. They’re commonly the opposite of the mc being all edgy, mentally stable, and cool, and some might say they are getting all them bitches. But the moment they shin the most is a tool to stimulate the main character and make it so that at the end of the day, to prove their superior

[Treacherous inhabitant: Caina Aulgremn

Role: Upper peak one, 2nd in command

Race: Ice demon

Gender: Female

Specialty: Demonic ice, scheming, Curse]

At the top of the mountain lies a throne made from pure untainted ice and a demon kneeled in the presence of her grace. "Milord upper peak 2 has yet to return. I concur with the worries of my comrades, should we send a scout for her search? It has been so long till we’ve been alerted of an invader who reach the peak-"

Before Gaust could speak the door which led to his throne was slammed and made way for a servant in distress. "Sire I came to send a message coming from our dispatched generals. Lord Crellia appeared in our borders stopping a swarm of flies beyond our wildest imagination. Many believe it to be the flies of the disease prince of hell lord Beelzebub, but many saw a different figure,"

The news of such a disaster to befall his nation gave this figure a chuckle for all he knows the culprit in mind. He let out his aura and just as he desired his loyal vassals greeted his summons until the floors were packed with his subjects. Everyone gazes to see the eyes of their ruler who ousted their former lord weak-willed and remain loyal to a person who left them to rot

[Treacherous inhabitant: Cocytus

Role: Serpent of the lake of treachery/ Guardian entity/Pet of Lucifer

Race: Snake demon

Gender: Male

Specialty: Demonic ice, Shapeshift, Unarmed combat, Weapon production, Terrain manipulation]

"Bugs of Beelzebub? That hard-headed ruler came here just to let a few pests in my domain? Heh, what a joke. Assist Crellia and bring her to me, the last I’ve heard she faced the king himself. This means he’s not much of a threat if you see the king never hesitate and go for the kill!!"

"As you wish Lord Cocytus!" The demons withered from his sight and the silence that momentarily left returned anew

"Uberious Voidriel... perhaps will you be capable of quenching my thirst for powerful opponents? If you are what the stories foretold then you’ll surely pique my interest, Kehahahahaha!!!"

There were a few incidents many are incapable of avoiding when their minds are corrupted and momentarily consumed. The accursed frostherus Gaust Frizzleight was one of the rare cases when they fully succumb to the urges they attain. He was gradually losing his sanity till the last straw dropped and from his curse to his current form he was devoured

"Wow, it’s only been what 26 days and you’re already a wreck? Have you been well, Gaust? I’ve been searching for you and the others since I arrived. But I didn’t expect you’ll go bonkers the second im gone, do you want a repeat of last time?" Morris appeared reclining on Gausts throne when he gaze through his balcony to view his bait

[Your confidence knows no bounds, do you think this is the best option? Need I remind you the body and skills you have are different from your original body? Without mana breathing you can even spam a hundred or so spells]

’Great benefactor as much as I like your company I’m in no need of your scolding. I’ve thoroughly gauged the abilities of my current form to a certain extent. He may be a little high in power but aren’t you forgetting... when it comes to adaptability im second to no one in that field—’

Not even a second to waste and a flurry of ice came flying at Morris’s spot, tearing everything in its path. But instead of moving he reclined on the throne and awaited its impact. The outcome wasn’t in Gaust’s favor when he disappeared the without a trace for him to spot

[System: Darkness manipulation allows you to manipulate the darkness to your very will. The player chose to travel in the shadows and thus came to unlock [Void walk]. As long as darkness is present you can jump from one point to another]

"Power without any command and simple numbers will never be enough against someone like me. Didn’t I tell you this at the countless times we spar? What’s the value of immense power when the wielder himself has no mind!"

The shadows near Gausts throne became his exit and he appeared in the shadows behind Gaust. He tightly clasps his head and pummels him to the ground below with the maximum strength he possesses. He succeeded in gaining the upper hand and subduing his opponent giving him enough time to cast one of his spells. Gaust was slowly recovering from his attack and before he gets back to his feet a pillar of fire set his body ablaze

"Kehahahahahaha! Did you think that’ll work for me? Don’t forget that im a demonic snake, a being capable of handling the flames of the underworld. But im special even the coldest parts of hell is nothing against me— Urgh!!!"

"Bro, can you shut the fuck up? I know you’re new on the whole villain thing but tone it down a bit. Not every fight needs your long-ass monologue, and sorry to say but you have to work on your lines. You sound an awful lot like your average villain that aims to destroy the world,"

While his skill was still active he conjures a hammer from the shadows and sent him knocking flying through the ceiling. His attacks so far would’ve been enough for anyone but the thing he faces was the guardian pet of the overseer of treachery. For a long time, Gaust remains still, he is finally rid of his human-like form and faces him in his demonic form

[System: You’ve dealt the needed amount of damage for the guardian pet [Cocytus] to undergo its 2nd phase!!!]

The roof of the ever-towering castle at the summit of this ever-freezing mountain had its top blown from Gaust’s transformation. The Serpent Cocytus awakened once more when it finally face an opponent that held its own against his tyranny. This guardian famed to swim through the river treachery earned the name of the river itself stands before the king

[Diabolous Ex-machina: You’ve miraculously escaped a cave-in with a perfectly timed activation of the [Armor of sustainability]

Outcome: The protection of the [Armor of sustainability] had long reached its end. To activate it again you’ll need to wait until 23: 59: 21 has passed

Status: While you have no more protection the arrival of a life-threatening event activates the effects of [Dreadful armor]. In the event, the life of the hosts is threatened the armor will antagonize and mitigate the killing blow. While present this armor doubles the host’s stats until it’s broken from battle or the host called it off]

The tremors from Gausts transformation were enough to end his life but the presence of his armor manages to save his undoing. Equipped with the Ex-machina’s wings he hovers and shortly he was faced to face with the ginormous Serpent. The awakening of its form gradually affects its environment bringing forth an unbreakable cold famed to be the origin of 9th level

[System: Due to your body’s current resistance you’re able to freely move even with such fierce temperature]

[You’re still alive, right?]

"Urggh... isn’t it obvious? Ah fuck! That shit hurts like hell, the force behind his transformation was nuts. It’s way worse when you realized his curse greatly affects the ferocity of his transformatio— Holy shit! Well at least he hasn’t forgotten to seize the moment even though his corrupted"

If it weren’t for his trained senses his life would’ve been taken away from him by the fast swing of Gaust’s tail. The force behind that attack slice the surface of the mountain till it reaches the ground below. He was certain that force wasn’t even close to the maximum of his strength but he never once flinched. Though their power was that of a hi and a mountain he was sure of one thing that others tend to forget from the sheer terror they garnered

"You think I came here without a thought? I already know your weakness. Hellfire might not be the spell to counter you but it sure as hell did a number on your scales. Your scales bathe in the sheer cold of the river of treachery... by surviving the harsh cold it’s now weak from fire. You might be resistant but that doesn’t matter if it’s your scales,"

From the moment he uttered those words an army of undead soldiers scurry away from the ruined castle. The converted skill of his daughter from a homunculus to summon the undead drew a circle in his command. All it took was the mana required and the winter formulated by Gaust faced its undoing

"Open the gates of hell to the 9th level treachery. I command you to take away what’s rightfully yours, to begin with. The cold that affects the land of man returns to your rightful place," Once the gate stole the authority attained by Cocytus the 2nd spell engrave around the palace arise

Great pillars of flames reach the skies and opposed the cold which naturally guards the realm they stood. Thus the advantage of Gaust no longer remains and these two continue their fight against one another. A greater demonic serpent that reflects its age from its enormous size and the newly resurrected Demon King
