Chapter 260: Bloody endeavors [2]
Fear for the living it’s natural to be afraid, it causes them to doubt, and freeze, and few create an absolute belief. These beliefs grew harder as time went on, molding their thoughts, and later obscuring their views and keeping them at bay. Disbelief of their strengths and they grew susceptible to fright the more they faced the thing they thought was impossible
"What the hell is that thing? No weak points... overpowered stats. Raw power... why is he so strong?"
"Don’t judge me! This is the time when I haven’t met Jin... this fucker was like a wall for me. So yeah he’s deadly," They slowly crawled through the table whilst the gas was present and heard Laurence’s beckoning call
"Is this tear gas? They should quit making toys like this... its defective as fuck. Well what would I guess from a reject like you, did you find this in the dump?" The stomps of his feet began to slowly fade and the two scoot over to each other’s side to discuss their plan
"What’s the plan?"
"Let’s release all the tear gas,"
"WHA- hmmmmp–" He quickly tightened her mask and she struggled to even see nor breathe
After Yuri calmed down he loosened her mask and whispered. "Are you crazy? If you wanna die then do it without me ya hear? I know what that means okay. Releasing more than one teargas changes the terrain into a foggy mess,"
"Then why?"
"Do you think you can go against him without your skills? I don’t think so. What’s the point in our vision if we die? The guy is 10 feet tall you think you could mistake me for him?" After carefully going about his plan Yuri nods and agrees with his plan and the fog reaches every scope of the map
[System: Due to the release of multiple teargas the entire room became encroached with gas]
"Are you sure about this?" Yuri began to unload his bag while Christoper rose from the ground up and only wielded a gun and a pair of knives
"Don’t worry I’m far from a suicidal prick, you might have forgotten but I didn’t. The first perk we received from coming here was a fresh start. I don’t need any medications and apart from my mind everything is aok," He quickly departed and roamed around the corners of the cafeteria in search of his prey
’I kinda get that saying you always kept telling me, Pops. No matter how far I’ve gone through life and how much I have changed... some things are better left unforgotten. Not every fight can be won, but even so, even if it may look suicidal. Things are bound to happen and be faced, and no matter how much we resist, we just can’t, humans are a prideful bunch,’
As these two parted ways one prepared their traps and the other walked a narrow path riddled with death. He stands before a giant twice his size and he calls upon his lackeys bursting from the ground and pale like the dead. Their description was cold, unfeeling, yet loathsome, a hatred born to please the monster before their very eyes
"Looks like the gangs all here," He threw a grenade, and once it felt the slightest pressure it exploded and took the life of Lawrence’s goons
"You..." He stared deeply in the direction he heard Morris’s voice even though he couldn’t visibly see his foe
’In truth, those fuckers were as scared as me, Pike was insane that even his friends are afraid of him. But could I call them friends and should I spare them since their just victims yet to be antagonized? Something in me says I shouldn’t, but seeing is believing, even the nicest person here... no matter who they are, it doesn’t matter, these angelic freaks would use anything to kill me,’
He stepped back, bent his upper half, and safely evaded the speeding table hurdling at his front. Before anything else, Lawrence jumped through the ceiling and grappled until he pinpointed Morris’s spot. A little added weight to his foot which brushes through the ceiling was enough to send him forth to his target’s way
"You got a lot of nerve and just when I was about to have some fun!" A large tremor caused by his rough landing and a crack he heard but it never spewed nor blood was found
"This... it’s wood!!?"
[System: Wooden dummies’ durability reaches its limits! The mimicking effect has faded. You’re now perceivable]
Lawrence remained dumbfounded and within his blindside, he appeared wielding his shotgun at point-blank range. "Item manipulation... gunpowder x10, maximize fire rate, durability up, destructive up, shell amount up,"
The moment the trigger was pulled the modifications he added began and a spark originating from the powder exudes. The sheer force was enough to tear through the corners of the gun but his added durability made the cut. The rising force shouts out with such brutal power and the recoil blows him away sending him flying to a fierce collision through the wall
[Diabolus Ex-machina: Imminent threat detected! Lifeline functions have been activated. Current abilities are heavily restricted, manifesting protective measures in 3... 2... 1]
A mechanical tentacle spurred from his back stuck through the walls where the recoil was used for him to shift. He made a 360-degree turn and when he returned a single thought came to his mind and a gauntlet manifested. Paired with a rocket within its back his body was once again pulled and he sent forth a devastating blow. But the result was not what it seemed his attack was caught bare-handed by Pike
"Caught ya..." With his hand caught by Lawrence, he was prone to his impending left hook nearing its course
"Eject," He escaped in the nick of time, and sadly for Pike the remainder of his metallic gauntlet let out 50,000 volts
"Is that enough–" Out of the blue his body got swept by a powerful force sending him hurdling through the tables
(That’s a close one... I thought you would’ve died. Your left leg is sprained. Hips slightly cracked. The worst part is your chest... your rib cage, it’s barely keeping itself from falling apart)
He rises from the rubble along with the broken tungsten shield readily deployed by Diabolus which minimizes his wounds. "I knew I viewed him to be a monster but damn... this is beyond my expectations. It feels like I’m facing an avatar for crying out loud, fucking hell man!"
Through the smoke, a humongous silhouette vastly approaches where he stands. A cackle grew so irritating yet louder as the tremor from the steps he took grew stronger. Raging eyes glowed ever so freakishly bright, breathing on par with a gust of wind, and a roaring beat of his heart. In every way, he moved the constant feeling of fear, pressure, and intimidation was present
"This is what you get from defying me!!!" He dashes forth with his right leg entirely off the ground along with its weight slowly approaching his neck
"How funny..."
Christoper disappeared from his sight and as he uttered those words he appeared on his back. Lawrence’s hand quickly reaches the ground, lifting his body and causing his attack to reach his spot. But it happened again, he seemingly disappeared in thin air. His speed skyrocketed and instead of just dodging numerous cuts were imprinted on Lawrence’s leg
([Rewrite system: The requirements for the plot armor have been met! The overall limits of the author have been exponentially increased. Due to the plot armor [Final stand], your latent potential is increased when nearing death’s door])
’Man, I can’t believe it took so long to get something really good... this plot armor is super broken. To think I got this just because I’ve faced loads of death flags. Still, this thing only manifested when I was here, when there were no skills, and I was left alone to fend for myself. This whole thing is a pain in the ass, but it did give me something, whether it be an ability or the opportunity for revenge,’
(My liege im afraid I can’t generate any weapons from your world... since I took most of the remainder of my energy to create that shield. There’s nothing more that I can do, should I deploy myself right now and join the fight?)
"No, I got this..." He reached through his pocket and from the cloth he revealed a pair of kitchen knives
(Isn’t this a little dangerous? I don’t advise fighting this on your own. The level of risk is too much for your current constitution. I suggest we call for Milhailov’s assistance–)
Morris dodges dozens of furniture hurdles in his way and others he sliced with the knives along with his added strength. Pike gave him no room to escape once he became fully aware of his surroundings, every exit nor gap was ever found. Lawrence dashes forth but instead of jumping through the air he remains where he stood
His small and nimble body easily maneuvered away from his attack, he clenched his fist, and added his weight "Don’t you see Diabolus... I’m having fun!!!"
His breathing was calm, mind at peace, yet the beat of his heart grew ever so restless. Was he scared? Intimidated? There’s even a chance he’s putting up a front? But no... even though it was petty of him to do, the thought of revenge lingers in his mind. He hoped, and hoped, and hoped that a day would come when he could settle the score
"Argh!!!" Lawrence was pushed back by a devastating blow that was aimed at his gut which in turn resulted in his loss of words
"Why isn’t this a surprise...? What’s wrong Lawrence why are you getting beat up huh? Don’t tell me that’s all you got?"
This was the real reason he desired to fight him alone... it wasn’t out of worry, nor was he uncertain of victory. It was purely for his enjoyment. Living the life of a demon finally made him understand how to show his face. Something which has plagued his mind over and over. His days of living like a feeble worm were no longer, he finally found joy in fulfilling his deepest desires
"Humans are prideful fuckers am I right? That’s what you taught me... having no such thing as backbone means you’re nothing more than a worm. You know after finally meeting you here, for the first time in my life I can say that I’ve truly become human..."
