Chapter 265: Chaos in the empires walls

Previously the fated-to-die character Shin Chaerim was called upon by the god she willingly agreed to serve. Even though it’s evident that she sided with the demons a single answer remains in her mind. We’re the demons truly at fault? The more she doubted her eyes were finally opened to the truth

[Calm yourself this... is something you need to fully grasp. What it truly means to fully accept the world where you stand at present. This isn’t a fantasy, this isn’t a second chance, it is a place that can be both heaven and hell]

"Still... why do we need to kill them? Isn’t escaping here and opening the borders our primary task?"

[You’re not wrong but you’re also not in the right way of thinking... if we’re talking about survivability. Killing them when they least suspect it is a must. As of now, they are not your allies. You can no longer afford to trust them, isn’t that why you agreed? Correct me if im wrong oh promising vassal of mine]

Conflicted she remained still whereas Morgan judged the outcome and commanded her subordinate. "I order you two to engage... it seems this one is rather eaten by her very own guilt. We don’t have much time, move!"

"As you wish!!!" Elia and Amaris swooped down from the ceiling above and as they met their target a blinding light appeared

[System: Familiar Sun has activated the skill ’Flash’ creating a blinding light that stuns those in range]

"... you lazy cat! Even though I found you obnoxious fighting by your side is your only charm. You may be appalling but your skills are something I can never hope to dismiss," Once the light disappears the guards near them are all torn and brutally beaten where signs of dark remains lingering

"Oh shut up you! Can’t you just do your thing? I hate this more than you so be a dear and finish it already!" Elia howled and attracted the guards to attacks whilst Amaris prepared for their targets undoing

[System: Familiar Moon has activated the skill ’Backslash’ enhancing attack for 25% and critical when striking the back]

As Ameris prepares to trim his foe a dagger seemingly appears in his palm while performing a stance. "... isn’t that– That bastard’s signature weapon? Why is it in the hands of his familiar?"

[Don’t worry there are no rules we have yet to break... as you can see they’ve undergone their 2nd awakening. One of the newly created abilities allows them to wield items that belong to their owner]

[System: Due to gaining a human form Familiar Moon manages to equip Cromwell’s dagger!

Assassination target (Passive): Gains increase penetration when facing a weaker/Injured foe

Killing spree (Passive): Killing foe after foe increases critical damage and penetration by 3% per kill

Murderous air (Passive): Applies fear on targets lower in terms of stats to the user and once frightened lowers stats by 10%]

"Everyone raise your shields!"

Those who weren’t in the vicinity of Elia’s taunt gathered in a formation where everyone raised both spear and shield. Although their defenses had no faults their downfall resulted from a single matter at hand most of them were weak. A dagger that Amaris wields is a menace to anything weaker than its user and its power is beginning to appear

"Nice defense but you lots are merely a bunch of prey!"

He appeared from their backs with the use of Void walk and just a slight swing slices through the shield and onto its wielder. He recklessly charges through the formation where he’s greeted by a bountiful number of guards. Although it may seem he made a harsh choice the one screaming was his foe and he kept on pushing through

"Why don’t you play with me?" He pounces and quickly hops on a guard’s shoulder before he stabs their eyes

"You devil!" He moved with such haste along with his flexibility he evaded a direct strike from a mace

"You need a little more oomph!" The large singular danger finds its way piercing the guard’s lower jaw

"You’re not gonna like this..." Instead of retrieving his tool for mass murder he yanks it down and splits its body in two

"Amaris will ya hurry it up?" Elia’s sudden intervention reminded them of their limited time so he finally speeds his execution

[System: Familiar Moon has activated the skill ’Corrosion’ anything struck will be afflicted with a powerful curse]

Amaris’s movements in the way he slashes were swift and to a certain degree a style crafted by his own. Instead of mimicking his owner’s abilities, he on the other hand desires results in the fastest way. The result was his recklessness paired with his calculating swings, timing, and aim for the enemy’s vitals

"I am the Amaris... the one who possesses the symbol of the Moon. If the Sun is seen to embrace and protect I hide the terror in the night," Although it was a straight frontal dash the places he passed were marked with his cuts

"If the light is to protect... then my purpose correlates to the moon. That being to kill, for the evening is for the few. A perfect time where the ugliness of this world to be hidden in my reach,"

The cuts he inflicted weren’t deep but the size was huge comparable to anything he dealt which in turn spreads the curse. The bigger the cut the larger the contamination of Corrosion he made sure he never struck their limbs. Why? Although Corrosion is a powerful curse it has one small feature to counter such a frightening scourge

[Do you know why he never struck their limbs? I’ll reward you if you’re correct. But don’t even think the answer will be that easy take your time–]

"It’s because the contamination is rather slow... if anyone who has no regenerative capabilities is struck their flesh will rot. Since you can recover a limb for the right price this debuff is something you want to hit your limbs,"

[... oh right! I forgot that your companion possesses a sword afflicting Corrosion. Looks like I gave you quite an easy one]

"At least your title correlates with yourself,"

[I know for certain now why he picked you... it seems you have that rather vile tongue identical to his. Truly I don’t even see him praising if not he’s desperately asking to survive]

"Knowing how prideful he is I hardly doubt he kneels and begs like a dog," Shin replies in a swift yet utterly disrespectful way

[Vile and smart... looks like you aren’t that easily fooled. You’re starting to rub off on me, girly. Now for the last test are you willing to die so that you can live?]

"Of course..." She confidently replies

[Hoh? You aren’t thinking it over? This might be a trick question you know? Maybe the answer I seek is prolonging]

"You’re a god. Why in the hell would you see us as anything valuable? We may possess your blessings but we’re no more than your past time. A deity such as yourself seeks to lengthen his wisdom and relieve your pent-up stress," She stands firmly with her eyes glaringly pointed to the sky above

[Hmmmm... well that certainly is quite everything but you’ve forgotten to add my interest. Nonetheless, you only missed a single question. Even I can’t hope but to tie my extraordinary Avatar down with rewards in case he’s recruited by others]

"Urgh... what the?" Her head was suddenly given loads of information in such a short time yet she remained standing

[Don’t worry I never gave you anything complex... you’re not there yet. But I did gift you with a particular spell you’ll likely favor. I call it Null]

"What does it do?"

[Right, I only gave you the knowledge to invoke the skill. If I added anything more you’ll faint and we can’t have that. Because of your Linkage with Morris, his Familiars can rest through your soul. Just remember that once active Null makes your overall value Zero]

"So it makes me weak?"

[No! By Zero I meant positively... how do you think people feel your presence it’s due to charisma. It can also be bloodlust and anything alike, so what happens if its value has been converted to Zero? You guessed it you’ll become undetectable to both Mana and Chi so even your attacks can’t be seen]

"Is there a catch?"

[Well it drains your mana by 50% for 10 minutes, 100% for 20 minutes, and 150% for 30 minutes. But don’t think it’s that easy, the moment you cross 10:01 it’ll be converted to 100%. That being the case this is why my Avatar refused when I tried to offer this skill he said he can’t use spells]

’It doesn’t do me any good as well... how the hell does this crackhead think I’ll get 150% of my mana capacity? Is he an idiot or what or does he want to unintentionally kill me?’

[You know that’s the reason why artifacts such as mana depository are invented right?]

"Gaah– Stop reading my mind god damn it! Also, you’re telling me you’ve been listening to me all this time? What are you a creep?"

[Do you need me to transfer the contract details to your mind? I’m rather intrigued by how long will it take for you to pass out–]

"On second thought no! I barely managed to keep myself together with you transferring the skill. In any case, that skill is too much for someone like me–"

[I thought Assassin gains momentarily gains perks when killing enemies whilst being undetected? What was it again? Stay increased by 30% and it stacks? However it disappears if you get struck by an attack, how are you gonna get attacked if you have Null?]

"You have a very compelling argument, okay will do it your way, so where’s the Familiars at?"

[There already resting at your soul! You were so focused on our chatter that they went in without your knowledge... also that battle they have is quite disappointing the foes are weak. Will be counting on you in the meantime okay?]

"B-But you said you’re going to help me?"

[Yes we will! But I might ask why would you want to use a powerful tool earlier on? If Morris we’re here he’ll slap you and when he’s pissed he might even punch your gut]

"Fine but can I even use that skill here?"

[Rules have changed dear. If you acquire a skill here then it’s automatically usable with no restriction. Now move we can’t stay idly by any longer we need to escape so we can open the borders]
