Chapter 312: Running out of time [5]
The workshop was quiet, with no hint of movement, no leakage of mana, and no outside presence. Deus, who reigns at the core of this facility, wondered if the perpetrators had retreated upon meeting their demise a dozen times. Yet that very thought vanished the moment she heard a loud bang and all the alarms pointed to the hidden entrance
(Deus’s POV) freewёbnoνel.com
"It’s them again? I thought they’d quit after that whole rewinding of time. But they’re so brave to the point that they’re suicidal,"
With a wave of her hand, a monitor constructs, revealing the cause of the disarray within her domain. The results were shocking: a singular person, a being that could threaten her existence, a divine entity. The same surge of power she couldn’t deny, the power of time seeping through its surroundings which aged and decay
"This is no mortal!!? Why is there a God, apart from me? This shouldn’t be possible, I can’t, I won’t allow it!!!"
The walls near the entrance violently contract, transforming themselves and revealing their hidden artillery. Just as she commanded every volley fired away without a care for the workshop’s survivability, as long as her target perishes. As every round of ammunition flew, silence filled the entrance, and not a single explosion occurred, Deus saw the bullets motionless
(Rachel’s POV)
The volley fires off, and in a flash, Rachel slowly fades into nothingness, but she remains still and chants. "O Keeper of the eternal sands, hear my prayer across the ages,"
"Grant me power over time’s flow,
to halt, hasten, and rewind," A surge of divine power encircled her entirety, and just it’s alone manipulated her surroundings and made the bullets at bay
"By your name, Chronos,
let time bend to my will!!!"
Her pocket watch, which she so caringly held, burst from within her grasp, and divine power began to surge wildly. Her transformation can only be described as otherwordly, as all that power enveloped in her existence transformed her so. This was no manifestation, the aura she displayed was no mere fragments, it was whole, powerful, and benevolent
"Let’s do this God to God!!!"
Manifestation was said to be the power bestowed upon the chosen Avatar of a God, but a mere sliver of divine might capable of bending reality itself. But this fragment was only a fraction of their true potential. To fully descend, to unleash the entirety of their godly essence upon the mortal realm, the Gods required their Avatars to not only wield their power but to think, act, and resonate as one with the deity that chose them.
Thus, the Gods handpicked Avatars worthy of their divine essence, those who shared their ambitions, desires, and visions of the world. This union went beyond simple allegiance; it was a profound alignment of soul, will, and purpose. Only those Avatars who could overcome this monumental wall of separation and merge completely with their God were capable of manifesting their full power, allowing the divine to descend in its entirety.
These few who succeeded were no longer merely vessels; they became something greater, a singularity where the lines between mortal and divine blurred. They were dubbed the Descendants; champions who could summon forth the true might of their Gods, leaving legends in their wake and reshaping the world as they saw fit
[Player: Rachel Ainsley
Divine manifestation: ’The One Who Bends Time’ Real name; Chronos The God Of Time
Synchronization rate: 100%
Status: Descendant]
In her Descendant form, Rachel Ainsley radiates an ethereal glow, with skin marked by shifting golden clockwork patterns and eyes like liquid gold, reflecting the passage of ages. Her hair transforms into a silver cascade, flowing like the river of time. She wears a robe resembling the night sky, dotted with ever-changing constellations, and a shimmering belt of interlocking rings like a celestial clock. Her weapon, the Chronoblade, is a radiant sword forged from the sands of time, able to slice through reality and control the flow of moments at will
"What a show-off," With a flick of her finger time seemingly reverses leaving her unaffected and causing the ammunition to return
[Careful now, you shouldn’t waste our power so recklessly. Although we succeeded in merging it isn’t perfectly stable. The duration of our assimilation will later cease and you can’t cheat it with my power]
"So how long till this last?"
[10 minutes- 7.5 minutes tops. It looks like using Rewind costs a lot of Divine power. I suggest you avoid rewinding unless you want our time to cut lessened]
"That’ll do," She bends a knee and takes a stance to prepare for an all-out dash. "Fast-forward x100!!!"
As the workshop shifts to deploy its hidden traps, fire off its artillery, and whatnot, Rachel easily breezes through. Her speed, compared to the time she fought off the golem, only doubled her maximum acceleration. As of now, she’s unperceivable. She easily broke through the speed of light and the only reason how these traps could detect her was because of Deus
[Keep going you’re almost there]
It would’ve taken an hour for her to find the core as Deus manipulated the workshop to move by her will alone. Forming new turns, creating new passages, and filling them with all sorts of traps to hinder Rachel’s advance. Unfortunately even with this hurdle, she manages to hack the system, as Deus points her focus at subduing her that she forgot to monitor the system
([Hello is this on? How was it? You wanna fight for the control of the workshop’s system? Too bad, I’m way faster])
As Deus received that message, it was obvious that her processing speed was faster when she easily broke through her algorithm. The Workshop’s endless shifting came to an end; Rachel finally reached the center where lies the core, Christoper Morris, and Deus herself. The God of machinery wasted no time and lunges forth for an attack but to no avail does it work as she feels the power of time
"You!!! Who are you!!? There should only be one god and that is me-" The moment she was struck by Rachel’s Chrono blade her entire existence stopped as if she had no control whatsoever
"Oh shut your pie hole. I didn’t come over here to kill you. That’s his responsibility. Now if you don’t mind, I’m going to leave," She touched the shackles binding Christoper and as it aged to nothingness she caught him and a circle appeared beneath them
"Don’t try to force your way through. It won’t work. I just came here to undo someone’s mistake. I know you can hear me!!!"
Rachel wasn’t speaking to any hidden enemies, but rather the GM monitoring her movement, the beginner GM Kishar. Although he has the power to stop her, he knows that he has already done so much that if she reports him here and now, it’s all over. He didn’t make any appearance, nor did he threaten her, this loss made him glare and curse her to the point of death
...
7.5 minutes later
Rachel and her group escaped from her continuous loop and rejoined the demonic army along with Christoper. Her previous statement baffled Chronos as that piece of information concerning Kishar was something he never knew. So he asked her for her compliance as to why she knew that all of this was made to be possible and not a coincidence
"Kishar? Why do I know he’s related? Didn’t I tell you before? I talked to Hugo," She replied and then stated. "The true ending had no cutscene where Deus captured the Demon King,"
[Then why did Kishar intervene?]
"That’s because he made a mistake. Normally there should only be one Sacred Treasure. Randomly in one of the pillars," She stated and then pointed to Christoper. "But that idiot accidentally placed three, two out of three had already been found, the other was the blood of the Asura,"
[And Diabolus Ex Machina is the second?]
"Supposedly it’s going to be four sacred treasures. But that’ll only happen if Morris chooses correctly. That’s all I know,"
[Good lord, how is it that for being so weak, this version of him is collecting all these treasures like their mob drops?]
"It’s as I fear. He might have unlocked it. That thing which my version of Christoper warned me about. The Rewrite system!"
Just as the movement of the Regressor stopped, the war of light and darkness persisted. The loss of Diligence and Humility allowed the demonic army to advance, whereas Conquest and Charity raged on. Death and Patience brought along a storm as they drew breath, the King of demons remained at rest, and the one true God had yet to make an appearance
"Why don’t you come out hiding, Conquest, and fight me fair and square?"
Michael was slowly weeding out Quon’s undead army and she responded by attacking his back. An undead carcass at Michael’s back switched places with Quon, and as she appeared she fired her crossbow. Michael swung his sword at his back and a huge slash of heavenly aura blocked her attack
"Is that all you got? Why even face me? You have nothing apart from commanding the dead. Yet you stand here all arrogant," Michael asks as he points his blade and remains standing until she replies
"Believe me, I never once thought of fighting you, but here we are, I’m just following the orders of my second in command," Quon sighed heavily and replied
"Hahaha... then you probably aren’t sane. You have no advantage against me. Prepare to die, Knight of Conquest!!!" As soon as he heard her reply he wasted no time and lunged forward to vanquish his foe
