Chapter 294 -241 Abundant Theoretical Knowledge_3
Dong Qingfeng was silent for a moment before responding, “I guess so.”
Since the first monthly exam of the first year of high school, Wang Longlong had consistently dominated the top spot in composition. After enduring so many exams, he was still number one.
If it weren’t for the occasional mistakes in the other parts of the Chinese exams, the title of number one in Chinese would certainly be his.
Perhaps this could break Xue Yuantong’s curse of being the overall top student.
While they talked, Yang Sheng occasionally chimed in, mainly because Dong Qingfeng spoke with an attitude that was neither humble nor pushy.
Chen Qian came downstairs to find Dong Qingfeng. The two had a good relationship. Although Dong Qingfeng’s grades weren’t as good as his, they weren’t far apart; after all, Dong Qingfeng was among those who could take exams in the front rows.
Upon seeing Chen Qian, Dong Qingfeng immediately greeted him, admiring him for his perseverance and gradual improvement.
Chen Qian said a few words and then looked towards Jiang Ning and Xue Yuantong, who were playing badminton on the open ground ahead.
Noticing his gaze, Dong Qingfeng asked, “You’re in the same exam room as them, right?”
“Yes, they handed in their papers thirty minutes early,” said Chen Qian truthfully.
Yang Sheng commented, “Jiang Ning is pretty good at badminton.”
She excelled at various sports, so she had a keen eye.
After hearing this, Chen Qian responded with a warm and confident smile:
“Badminton isn’t too difficult; it’s quite simple.”
“Hm?” Yang Sheng asked, “Do you play badminton often?”
“Not very much, but I have a very clear understanding of its patterns; I know them like the back of my hand.”
Seeing the puzzled look in Yang Sheng’s eyes, Chen Qian explained:
“What I’m talking about are not the patterns of playing, but the patterns of winning.”
With that, the stage was set for Chen Qian’s solo performance.
Chen Qian straightened his collar, thinking to himself:
‘Now is Chen Qian time!’
“The core point of badminton is receiving the shuttlecock, right? And I won’t lie to you; I can predict the landing spot of the shuttlecock with one hundred percent accuracy.”
“I’m very good at math and physics, and you shouldn’t underestimate this—it’s very important to badminton,” Chen Qian spoke casually, with his hands behind his back.
Bai Yuxia and Yang Sheng were utterly baffled.
Dong Qingfeng vaguely grasped that Chen Qian was talking about something remarkable, listening intently.
“The motion of a shuttlecock is a commonly used projectile model; you understand parabolas, right?”
Chen Qian, like a lecturer, drew an arc with his hand.
“Then, I observe the shuttlecock’s speed and angle. Considering the influences of external forces, I need to filter through them first.”
Chen Qian took a few steps forward, spreading his arms:
“I’m feeling the speed of the wind.”
He closed his eyes, looking blissful: “The wind is guiding me, and I am mastering the wind.”
This left Bai Yuxia and the others stupefied.
“After determining the wind speed, I’ll use aerodynamics to make some calculations, and then, I can pinpoint the shuttlecock’s landing spot.”
Chen Qian smiled confidently: “For me, this is very simple.”
Hearing this, Yang Sheng inquired, “Then what?”
Chen Qian shifted his gaze to her face, feeling a hint of disdain in his heart—there was not a trace of the scent of knowledge in this girl.
“Afterwards, once I’ve confirmed the landing spot, I can receive the shuttlecock with one hundred percent certainty.”
“So, when I play, I am invincible.”
Yang Sheng found it ridiculous: “Really? I somewhat don’t believe it.”
Bai Yuxia shared the same expression.
Even Dong Qingfeng, standing by, thought it was inconceivable.
It was beyond their conception that there was such a technique for playing badminton.
Chen Qian felt underestimated.
To prove his point, he said, “Fine, I’ll go play a couple of rounds and show you.”
Chen Qian hurried over to where Jiang Ning was, all the while feeling the speed of the wind.
Seeing a classmate approaching, Jiang Ning raised his hand, effortlessly catching the incoming shuttlecock, “What’s up?”
Chen Qian asked politely, “I’m itching to play; would you mind if I played a couple of rounds?”
“Go ahead,” responded Jiang Ning, who wasn’t stingy. He handed the racket over to Chen Qian.
Chen Qian swung the racket and then suddenly said:
“Jiang Ning, you’ve got skills; let’s play.”
He felt Xue Yuantong was too weak; winning against her wouldn’t convince anyone, so he decided to challenge a more difficult opponent.
“Sure,” said Jiang Ning, taking Xue Yuantong’s racket.
With some distance between them, they were about to start the badminton face-off.
Bai Yuxia and the others approached to watch the match. Xue Yuantong stood with them, waving cheerfully:
“Go Jiang Ning!”
After hearing this, Chen Qian remained unfazed, determined to show people what “science” was about today.
He held the racket as though he held the entire world in his hands.
Jiang Ning tossed the shuttlecock and swung, “Thwack!” the shuttlecock shot out with speed.
Chen Qian hadn’t even calculated the angle yet, and the shuttlecock was already upon him; he didn’t even have time to move his racket.
Dong Qingfeng shouted, “What are you doing?”
Chen Qian replied: “Don’t rush.”
Now it was his turn to serve. Chen Qian calculated the angle and served.
On the other side, Jiang Ning returned the shuttlecock with force, and once again, Chen Qian was left with nothing but loneliness.
Sweat began to form on his forehead.
After several unsuccessful attempts, Chen Qian hadn’t managed to receive the shuttlecock, except for his own serves.
Something was not right, this was not scientific!
Chen Qian was not ready to give up.
The onlooking Yang Sheng mocked: “All that theoretical knowledge, yet completely clueless once the game starts.”
