Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession-Chapter 159: He tagged along with her
Chapter 159: He tagged along with her
Ever since the day Ella was reborn, she was aware of the fact that she had secrets that nobody could know. And she had made sure to keep those secrets safe.
What helped her was the fact that she had lost touch with the outside world for a long time so nobody would pick up on her changes.
And Ella thought that she had managed to fool the people around her as well.
It wasn’t until today when she realized how delusional she had been.
She made a couple of slip-ups along the way, like the day Ella told him it would take him a long time to reach the Main Mansion, even though she herself had never been to the main mansion before.
Yet, Adrian had not shown any reaction to it. And Ella was convinced that her act was top-notch.
But today, when he woke her up from her nightmare, held her in his arms and questioned—’What are you hiding’—Ella saw a conviction in his eyes.
One that she couldn’t get over as it told her that all along, Adrian had been suspicious of the changes in and around her.
It was laughable that she mistook Adrian’s indulgence for his ignorance.
After his question, Ella couldn’t gather any words in her vocabulary to answer him. No amount of sweet-talking excuses could clear the currents in the air between them.
So, she had muttered the only few words that she could muster at that point—’I am getting late for classes.’
As she left his side, he did not stop her. He did not hold her back. Nor did he question her any further.
By the time Ella reached her dorm room, she was tugging her hair in annoyance. At least, he is gone and I don’t have to face him right away—
Ella’s thoughts glitched the moment she pushed open the door.
’Bam’
She closed the door and leaned back against it.
That... What was that...?
With trembling hands, she opened the door again. The view hadn’t changed.
Her dingy dorm room had turned into a classy hotel room.
Adrian was seated on the bed, with a laptop on his lap. When she opened the door again, he looked up.
Ella: "_"
After her initial shock, Ella composed herself and entered the room, "Baby, you haven’t left...?"
On his face, she could see the subtitles—’What do you think?’
Ella felt like crying but no tears came out of her eyes. Why haven’t you left? Don’t you leave in the morning all the time?
Hell, most of the time, Adrian left even before she woke up.
Yet, the only time she badly wished for him to be gone, he was right there in front of her.
And her dorm room seemed to have transformed into his side-office.
"Baby... umm... I have to go out for work," Ella laughed slowly, "You can make yourself comfortable here. Be productive. Fighting!"
...
Ji Yan glanced at the rearview mirror, watching the two people who sat at further ends of the backseat.
Usually, Ella would do so much sweet-talking in the presence of his second master that even Ji Yan’s ancestors would get diabetes.
Yet, today she was unusually quiet. And the look on her face... seemed like she would break into bitter tears at any point.
As for the second master... The man would usually never take his gaze off Ella yet today, he was looking out of the window.
If Ji Yan did not know any better, he would think that his Second Master was interested in spectating the public.
Didn’t they say distance makes the hearts grow fonder? Why have their hearts grown bitter then?
With the intensity with which Second Master came back to Vermilion City, I expected him to cling to Miss Yu for days and nights. But what in the world happened to them?
"Miss Yu, we are here."
Following Ji Yan’s declaration, the car pulled up in front of the luxury apartment and Ella snapped out of her senses.
After hesitating for a moment, she turned to Adrian.
The man was facing the windows so she could not see his expression.
She glanced at his side profile. For some reason, he gave off a very desolate and detached feeling to Ella.
Ella shook off her thoughts, "If you have something important to do, I would not want to hold you up here..."
Adrian remained silent for a moment before he gave Ji Yan a fleeting glance.
Ji Yan understood the look in one second. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat before letting out a polite smile, "Miss Yu, you don’t need to worry. Second Master’s schedule is mostly free these days."
Ella nodded slowly. No wonder Adrian came to her dorms abruptly yesterday. And he did not rush to leave today as he usually would do, "That makes sense then..."
"_" Ji Yan shook his head internally. That absolutely doesn’t make any sense, Miss Yu. This poor secretary is being threatened into saying this! Can’t you see my struggle here?
Ji Yan wanted to spill everything about how Adrian had left his business unfinished and rushed back to Vermilion City after getting just one message from Ella.
Yet, knowing where his loyalty lied, he could only zip his mouth pitifully.
"Then, please follow me," Ella cleared her throat and alighted the car when Ji Yan opened the door for her.
Ji Yan then opened the door for Adrian and the man stepped out gracefully, stepping after Ella as if it was the most natural thing.
With his head lowered, Ji Yan followed them.
The three people entered the building together, each lost in their own thoughts.
In her inattention, Ella missed a step at the entrance. The building tilted in front of her as her body floated backwards.
Ella closed her eyes, ready for the fall. But suddenly a strong arm wrapped around her waist.
In the next moment, her back bumped into something solid—
