Chapter 786: Chapter 792: Return

That same afternoon the Ascension Void Array was successfully repaired, Yu Xue came to visit once more, persuading, "Fellow Daoist, why not return to the Profound Origin Realm with us?"

The order of return had been set; the Devil Race and Demon Cultivators would go first, followed by the Cultivators.

The main reason for this arrangement was that the Great Array couldn’t transport too many people all at once.

If the Cultivators went first, their strength would be greatly reduced after several rounds, making it difficult to guarantee that the Demon Cultivators and Devil Race wouldn’t take action.

Though there was a contract preventing them from directly attacking the Cultivators, they could still destroy the Formation, and then it might be possible for them to take the risk of traversing the Void back to their own Ascension Void Arrays.

By letting them go first, there were no such worries, and secondly, with Cultivators below to respond to them, there was no concern of them destroying the Array.

"Thank you for your kind intentions, but what can be avoided for a moment cannot be avoided for a lifetime, and in the end, it must be resolved!"

Li Zhirui said with a relaxed face, "Don’t worry, I won’t have any troubles."

"But..." Yu Xue hesitated, not wishing to directly say that Li Zhirui’s strength was too weak and that he might encounter danger, as that would be too damaging to his pride.

"Don’t underestimate me!"

Li Zhirui joked, "Even if I really can’t beat them, can I not still escape?"

"Very well, then. If Fellow Daoist needs any assistance, please feel free to ask," Yu Xue said upon seeing his determination and no longer continued to persuade him.

After exchanging a few polite words, Yu Xue left.

After seeing her off, Li Zhirui returned to his meditation cushion and began to count the Spirit Seeds he had obtained by exhausting all his efforts over the past month.

"The Bloodfire Thorn Vine matured twice, yielding a total of seven hundred and eighty-five Spirit Seeds, while the Broken Gold Starvine matured only once, yielding just two hundred and thirty-nine Spirit Seeds."

Unlike previously, when in a single move Li Zhirui would deal with hundreds or thousands of Spirit Seeds, this time he had to be very meticulous and economical.

Perhaps among the many fourth-order Spirit Vines, he could mix in some Bloodfire Thorn Vine seeds, taking the enemy by surprise and overwhelming their defenses!

Meanwhile.

The Demon Cultivator Sudanli quietly approached the Fifth-order Great Devil they had ’teamed up’ with before.

"What are you thinking? Do you want to join forces again to attack that man? He recently spent twenty Precious Pills to buy a useless Spirit Vine Seed, which shows how wealthy he is. If we could take him down, we would surely make a fortune!" Sudanli tempted.

"I’ve already left a mark on that person to ensure we won’t lose him."

When he had to leave during that earlier battle, he deliberately left some Gu Insects as tiny as dust and without any spiritual energy fluctuations near the exit of the Formation. Li Zhirui came and went, unknowingly getting covered in countless Gu Insects.

The Great Devil was indeed tempted, but it had other important matters to attend to and simply didn’t have the time to ambush Li Zhirui, so it declined Sudanli’s invitation.

Also, dealing with a Demon Cultivator required being prepared for betrayal at any time— who knew whether he would call a group of Demon Cultivators to lie in ambush and take it down as well.

"He made you lose face in front of all the Devil Race, and you just let it go so easily? Don’t you have any sense of honor?" Seeing that temptation failed, Sudanli resorted to provocation.

Unfortunately, the more he did so, the more vigilant the Great Devil became.

"Go by yourself!"

The Great Devil coldly dropped a response and turned to leave!

"Damn it!"

Sudanli cursed internally, annoyed, and watched its back with a gloomy expression. He decided not to stay any longer and cautiously returned to the camp of the Demon Cultivators.

After returning, for some reason, he felt uneasy and could not resist seeking out a Nascent Soul Cultivator of his own kind.

"How about we brothers go kill that Cultivator, and then divide the spoils evenly?"

"Haven’t you forgotten? There are several seriously injured members of our family, and the central domain is the territory of cultivators; we must be careful to escort them back."

In order to counter the invasion from Yuanhao Realm, these beings of the Profound Origin Realm had set aside their internal conflicts.

Now that the invasion was over and the attack on Li Zhirui had occurred, they had signed a contract.

The content of the contract was also very simple, forbidding any confrontation; but the moment they returned to the Profound Origin Realm and stepped out of the central domain, the contract would automatically end!

And that was the most dangerous time!

Bear in mind that between the central and Western Domains, there lies a strategic boundary line stretching over a thousand miles, and without careful navigation, it might well become their burial ground!

"No way! Isn’t that cultivator just a few decades into Divine Transformation, with control over a Purification Principle that has little lethality? Sudanli, are you afraid? Do you feel you are no match for him?" a clan member not on good terms with Sudanli asked, full of incredulity in his eyes.

Besides not knowing the exact origin of Li Zhirui, they had thoroughly investigated all other information.

"Hahaha, come on, Sudanli. Are you really that cowardly?"

"How about you guard the injured members of our family, and I’ll go avenge you, to wash away the previous dishonor?"

A few fellow clansmen joined in, fanning the flames and mocking disdainfully.

The Demon Cultivator families had no concept of mutual respect, unity, or fraternity; their only beliefs were competition, more competition, and ruthless competition!

"Hmph! Who said I was afraid! Just wait, I’ll definitely return holding his head!" Sudanli retorted with a forced sneer, turning away to leave.

But to everyone watching, his manner was no different from a frantic escape!

"Do you think, Sudanli could actually be scared?" they wondered amongst themselves.

"For sure, do you think he’s kindly inviting you to share the spoils?"

"Hahahaha, when did he become so timid and cowardly? This is truly embarrassing for our Su Family!"

Their conversation was loud, naturally reaching Sudanli’s ears, who had not gone far. He paused in his step, pretended not to hear, and strode away with large steps.

There were no further words that night.

The next morning, everyone gathered in front of the Ascension Void Array, waiting to return to the Profound Origin Realm.

"Please proceed," said the Nascent Soul Cultivator operating the Formation to the gathering of the Devil Race.

Among the first nine Great Devils to return, only two were unscathed; the rest bore injuries of varying severity.

Li Zhirui also stood among the crowd, sensing a gaze on him. He couldn’t help but frown.

Without drawing attention, he scouted around covertly and saw that it was the Demon Cultivator who had previously made a move against him.

’Just him alone? Does the Great Devil not intend to act?’ Zhirui thought, feeling a stir in his heart. If that was the case, his confidence in the upcoming fight grew even stronger!

As the Spirit Light of the Great Array flickered, more and more Devil Beasts departed the Void.

After several hours, all the Devil Beasts had returned.

This was only because the Great Array needed rest and could not be activated consecutively; otherwise, the process would have been much faster.

"It’s your turn now."

The Demon Cultivators stepped forward in response, first sending back the injured, just like the Devil Beasts had.

When it was Sudanli’s turn, Li Zhirui suddenly looked up and their eyes met.
