Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players-Chapter 41: Jung’s Determination
Chapter 41: Jung’s Determination
Blood spurted from the hand, smearing the entire table.
This was followed by screams that reached everyone in the room, causing panic and confusion.
Jung didn’t care about any of that.
After hearing about Elara and yet another of her disappearances, he was ready to do anything to locate her, but there were hurdles he had to overcome.
Most of his problems would be resolved if he were strong enough.
No god, Archeon, or other entity would dare to stand in his way.
He was motivated to vanquish all evil in the world, kill the Chosen One along the way, and, if necessary, destroy everything for the peace of his family.
The actions he wanted to take might seem cruel.
Aware of that fact, he did it anyway and locked his eyes on Leora as the girl’s screams never ceased.
However, she wasn’t Jung’s target.
It was her brother, Astra—the Chosen One—who stayed silent and collected while his hand was pierced by Jung’s knife, drawing blood and causing pain even if the boy never showed it.
As Leora was about to strike Jung, Astra stopped her.
"Stay still," he said in a calm voice.
Then he looked at Jung—no emotion, no anguish or anxiety surfacing in his eyes.
"What are you doing?" he asked with raised eyebrows.
He appeared intimidating.
"You know why I am doing this," Jung answered, applying more force to the knife.
"I see," Astra said and glanced at his sister.
"But how do you know? Are you a spy from the moon?" Having said that, he went quiet.
After considering it thoroughly, he pointed out, "You don’t look like a traitor to me."
Jung laughed at his claims.
He didn’t hide his disdain and dislike for the caregiver boy.
The so-called Chosen One was an asshole, the two-faced prick who terrorized and made his sister oppress their half-brother, Ronan.
Astra was a liar, and his polite and friendly attitude was nothing but a facade.
Even though he was a caregiver, it didn’t exclude him from being a dick, especially if his goals were linked to caring about someone.
Up to the very last second, Jung wasn’t confident about who might have been the Chosen One.
But the system showed that his mission was completed, and he knew he was on the right track.
Considering all the clues he spotted, Astra was way more suspicious than Leora.
The truth was, the girl knew her brother was the Chosen One, explaining her cocky attitude.
Despite that, Jung was surprised at how well Astra coped with the situation.
He was a psycho, and controlling his emotions seemed a natural feat, even if he was a teenager.
Killing him on the spot was something Jung considered.
Locking his eyes with the Chosen One, he wanted to at least sever his wrist, but Snowshade arrived before them.
The woman said nothing and did nothing.
She watched the scene without demanding an explanation or expressing anger.
Fighting in the academy was strictly prohibited, the punishment being expulsion and shunning from the city in more severe cases.
Yet, she stood in complete silence, acting like she was waiting for the conflict to come to an end.
Meanwhile, the boys slew each other, but only with stares that cut deeper than blades.
"Are you guys done?" Snowshade asked, her brows twitching in annoyance.
Astra grunted. "Shouldn’t you help me?" the boy asked as he tried to stand, but the weapon was still piercing his hand, not allowing him to move.
Snowshade peeked at the boy.
His attitude, his calmness, and the way he held himself were weird, inducing uneasiness in the room.
"You don’t look like someone who is seeking help," she said.
Annoyingly, she was a teacher, a prestigious figure who had to uphold justice and set an example, even if she had to punish important students.
Jung was, or he was showing himself as a true saviour of the world.
It wasn’t the end, though; Astra was a promising student recommended by many, and even his results proved that.
Both of them were students she had to protect, and prioritizing one over another would damage her status and reputation.
"He needs a healer," Leora shouted at the woman and glared at Jung. "He is bleeding!" she said, worried.
Hearing that, Snowshade looked at Jung and asked quietly, "Can you remove your blade?"
In the blink of an eye, Jung’s magical knife vanished, leaving Astra with an open cut until the woman froze his wound, halting the bleeding.
Leora breathed a sigh of relief.
Then again, she stared at Jung; her entire face screamed the hatred she felt.
"I won’t forget this. You will regret this!" she promised, kneeling beside her brother.
"Explain yourself," Snowshade ordered Jung. freeweɓnovel.cøm
Leaning on the chair, observing the cafeteria and the remaining people, Jung grinned and said.
"I went to a creepy-as-fuck town," he paused, enjoying the scene he created, and continued. "And everyone there knew him."
No one guessed what he was trying to say.
’Life is so lonely sometimes,’ he thought.
[That’s a good one.] Vex said, sending excitement that surged within Jung.
[For you,] she added and crumbled Jung’s erected cheerful towers.
As for the others, they looked at Jung with interest.
Questions surfaced, but not a single person wished to ask them.
The boy was grinning the whole time, leaving Snowshade with no option but to interrogate Astra.
"Why do you think he attacked you?"
Her question stirred something in Astra.
The boy rested his wounded and almost frozen hand on the table.
Tapping on the surface, he remained calm, though his gaze was filled with negative emotions.
"I think he hates me," he said about Jung, yet he wasn’t shy to admit. "The feeling is mutual."
Jung stood mockingly.
His appearance suggested that he didn’t care about sentiments or how likeable he would appear.
However, he looked confused, as if he couldn’t fathom why someone would hate his guts.
"Imagine hating on me," he started, heading towards the exit.
"When I am just in your nightmare, giggling, jumping, and chanting something humorous."
Just as he was about to leave the cafeteria, his voice became deeper and more serious.
"You shouldn’t be hating. You should be scared!"
After announcing something profound—at least this was what Jung thought—as he climbed the stairs, searching for Snowshade’s office.
The woman stayed in the cafeteria.
She had to handle the situation he left behind.
Although Jung knew she would show up, they would go back to the conversation they hadn’t finished before.
"You are screwing yourself," Nero warned, as Jung sat on the sofa and got comfortable.
Closing his eyes, he answered, "I don’t care. I have to do this."
Jung said, checking his inventory only now since he had no peace before that.
Finding the Chosen One was no small feat, meaning the reward he received should be useful at the very least.
[Tier Pill]
-A pill that can boost you up an entire tier regardless of when you ingest it. Keep it for critical moments.
’This is so good,’ Jung thought, already planning how to use it.
The most logical approach was to swallow it at the last tier, breaking the mortal realm to reach Tier XIII and become a god.
Five minutes later, Snowshade arrived in her office, not surprised that Jung was waiting for her.
She was about to express her rage when Jung spoke, catching her off guard.
"I am going to kill him. Like it or not, he is going to die by my hands."
He was set on getting rid of the Chosen One and would do a lot to accomplish that.
