“Come in first and let’s talk about it,” Emily Hill hesitated for a moment before letting Simon Carrington in. Carolline Ruiz went inside to make Simon a cup of tea, naturally using the precious tea leaves that Henry Ruiz had kept in his collection.
After Simon sat down in the living room, he explained the blind date mishap from the day before yesterday. In fact, he had stood Carolline up on the blind date. He had known that Carolline would be his date, but he hadn’t expected to meet her again under those circumstances.
After seeing Carolline that day, he had been itching to make up for his mistake, hoping to find a time to formally meet with Carolline again.
He had already talked about this idea with his mother, who had not objected and even supported the idea.
“I’m sorry, Auntie, Carolline. My aunt is too protective, and it’s clearly my fault for leaving Carolline hanging. However, she has let Carolline bear the burden of this mistake. I’m to blame.” Simon apologized once more to Emily Hill with sincere regret.
Carolline was stunned. She had never expected that the person who was supposed to meet her for the blind date would be Simon Carrington.
But now he was apologizing and expressing regret. Was he hoping for another formal meeting? She was already married to someone else, even if it was a secret marriage.
She would not be able to accept going on a date with another man while being married to Bryan Hawkins.
“Auntie, Carolline, my father will be discharged from the hospital in three days. Can I invite you to dinner then, Carolline?” When Simon spoke these words, the meaning was quite obvious.
“Sure, Simon, don’t be too hard on yourself. Carolline also had something going on the day before yesterday, so she couldn’t make it either. Why don’t you two just have a proper meeting three days from now?” Emily Hill agreed wholeheartedly. In three days, Carolline would be on a break, making the timing just right.
Carolline was somewhat speechless. Why didn’t her mother ask for her opinion before agreeing on her behalf?
Since Emily Hill had agreed, Carolline didn’t want to say anything more. After all, it was just a meal together. Since she was already married, it’s not like she’d be forced into bigamy!
“Well, Auntie, Carolline, I’ll leave now and check on my dad. Carolline, I’ll call you when the time comes,” Simon said to Carolline.
“Okay,” Under Emily Hill’s gaze, Carolline had no choice but to nod agreement.
“I didn’t expect Old Carrington to be so reliable, even introducing his own nephew. Carolline, I’ve heard that Simon is a famous lawyer in Kyoto. He came to G City to help his family with a lawsuit,” Emily Hill told Carolline about what she knew of Simon now that his identity had been confirmed.
Simon was a good person, but if Carolline lived in G City and Simon in Kyoto, the long-distance relationship might not be ideal. However, her connections to her father were not bad; perhaps they could arrange for Carolline to try her luck in Kyoto in the future.
With her plans all set, Emily Hill didn’t even think about the impossibility of her daughter’s relationship with Simon.
“So what, Mom? It’s just a meal, nothing more. After three days, I’ll treat him to a meal to repay his life-saving grace.” Carolline was exasperated after hearing her mother’s words and bluntly dismissed her mother’s wild thoughts.
“I think he’s quite interested in you; otherwise, he wouldn’t have asked you to dinner. Can’t you look at other men besides Bryan Hawkins?” In Emily Hill’s eyes, Bryan Hawkins had lost all his charm by now.
He was now just a pitiful man who had been abandoned by his ex-girlfriend and didn’t know when he would be able to stand again.
“…No.” The law wouldn’t even allow her to consider other men. Carolline rolled her eyes, “Alright, mom, I’m going back to my room to rest.”
Watching the door to Carolline’s room close, Emily Hill felt a sense of frustration. When Henry Ruiz returned, she would have to vent her grievances to him.
