Starforce Warriors-Chapter 529: Thought Of Smacking Him
Chapter 529: Thought Of Smacking Him
"The Orochi-01 mechanical body from the Distillation Research Institute is capable of being integrated with Comrade Chong Chong’s brain," Li Xiaofei explained. "However, you’d better have professionals within your organization thoroughly inspect the body to ensure the Redshirt Group hasn’t left behind any hidden programs."
Orochi-01.
Poison Wolf took a deep breath as he struggled to calm himself. There had been word within the organization that the Orochi-01 would serve as the prize for the martial arts tournament between the three major forces in Urawa Base City. He had considered countless ways to get his hands on it. But after racking his brain and conducting numerous probing attempts, he concluded it was utterly impossible.
Not only was the Urawa Dojo packed with elite warriors and fortified like a fortress, but the presence of top-tier experts like Hankasa Mitsu and Dragon Slayer alone was enough to render any attempt futile. The Dragon Group members from Great Xia who had infiltrated the Jiepeng Empire were primarily specialized in covert operations, intelligence gathering, and transmissions.
They barely had any top-tier experts. Most of Great Xia’s expert operatives had been flagged in Jiepeng Empire's intelligence system, making it nearly impossible for them to infiltrate. Second, the more powerful the individual, the higher the likelihood of exposure. This harsh reality had ultimately led Poison Wolf to abandon the idea of seizing Orochi-01. He had resigned himself to quietly spending his lover’s final month with her. He had planned to personally build her a grave. But now...
"Who exactly are you?" Poison Wolf couldn’t hold back his curiosity as he pressed, "Is the downfall of Urawa Dojo and the Asura Dragon Gang related to you?"
Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.
"That’s correct. I killed the Punisher Huangshi and the cyborg Dragon Slayer." Li Xiaofei admitted openly. "Those who dare to harm Great Xia, no matter how far away they are, must be eradicated."
Both individuals had brought harm to the people of Great Xia. Killing them was nothing short of delivering justice. Li Xiaofei brought out Dragon Slayer’s cyborg body and head.
"These two items hold immense significance. If it can be transported back to our country, they could save Great Xia’s mechanical modification project fifty years of effort. I lack the channels to transport them, so I’d like to entrust them to you," he said earnestly.
Doctor and Poison Wolf exchanged glances, their eyes betraying both shock and uncontrollable excitement. Dragon Slayer’s cyborg body was hailed as the pinnacle achievement of the Jiepeng Empire's Distillation Research Institute’s early research efforts.
Its complexity and precision far exceeded the later mass-produced and simplified Orochi series. It truly represented the Jiepeng Empire’s highest accomplishment in human mechanization. Although Great Xia’s martial lineage emphasized harmony with nature and preserving the body’s integrity to pursue higher levels of martial arts, it did not outright reject mechanical body modifications.
Such advancements held immense benefits especially in the military and in the treatment of disabled martial artists. Humanity had been at war with the star beasts for over five centuries. Many martial arts experts had been severely injured in these battles and lost their ability to fight. But if they could receive a new body, they could regain their combat capabilities. While it might not allow them to progress further in martial arts, it would save them from being crippled and allow them to continue contributing to the defense of their homeland.
Acquiring Dragon Slayer’s cyborg body was equivalent to obtaining the Jiepeng Empire’s most advanced technological achievements. How could the two not feel overjoyed?
But they remained cautious. When something as significant as this fell into one’s lap, it often came with hidden dangers. If this monkey-masked man was a counterintelligence agent, offering such an enormous gift might be a trap.
If they fell for it and used their covert channels to transport Dragon Slayer's body, the entire intelligence network of Great Xia’s Dragon Group within the Jiepeng Empire could be exposed and dismantled.
"No need to doubt me," Li Xiaofei said, trying to reassure them. "Though I can’t reveal my codename, I truly am a member of Great Xia’s Dragon Group. I haven’t tampered with this body or dismantled it. You can also have experts check it thoroughly to ensure there are no tracking devices or hidden programs."
Once they weighed the risks, Doctor and Poison Wolf decided to accept this significant gift.
"Thank you, comrade," Doctor said. "I’ll report your contributions to the organization."
Li Xiaofei laughed and said, "I didn’t do this for recognition."
If recognition were his goal, any one of the deeds he’d done in the past would outweigh this by a large margin.
"So," he asked for the third time, "What is it you want me to do this time? Just say it."
Doctor hesitated for a moment before cautiously replying, "The Jiepeng have a terrifying divine weapon capable of controlling oceanic star beasts. We’ve received intelligence that they plan to activate these sea beasts this winter to launch a large-scale assault on Great Xia."
Li Xiaofei’s heart skipped a beat. Tsukiha Yaiba had mentioned before that the divine weapon in question required living sacrifices to unleash its power. Since the Cave Beast passage between Great Xia and the Jiepeng Empire was now severed, there should not be a sufficient supply of live sacrifices, rendering the weapon useless. By all accounts, the Jiepeng people should not be able to spearhead a massive sea beast assault. But if this information were true, it meant something was terribly wrong.
"I’ll look into this matter," Li Xiaofei said. "Leave it to me."
Doctor hesitated for a moment before continuing, "The Inquisition has also dispatched numerous agents, Punishers, and squads of adjudicators to Urawa Base City, which pose a serious threat to our comrades. Of particular concern is the Burrower Squad, led by their newly appointed captain, One-Eyed Golden Lion Drent, who possesses the Corpse-Eater ability. He was specifically sent to hunt down Poison Wolf. I’m worried...”
Before the doctor could finish, Li Xiaofei interrupted. "Don’t worry. Drent will disappear within a day."
Doctor froze. Li Xiaofei’s agreement was so straightforward and decisive that it caught him off guard. It even made Doctor feel a bit awkward; after all, this was an exceptionally dangerous mission. He had brought it up mostly as a final test of Li Xiaofei’s intentions.
"Let’s call it a day," Li Xiaofei concluded, cutting the meeting short with crisp efficiency. "I’ve said it before, no matter how difficult the problem, you can always come to me. I hope you’ll trust me, comrades!"
With that, he turned and left, vanishing like a gust of wind. Doctor and Poison Wolf exchanged glances for what felt like the hundredth time in the rundown slave camp. Suddenly, the air in the room began to flicker like the snowy static of an old television with a poor signal. A rotund figure abruptly materialized in the room.
"Lord San Zang." The two greeted him respectfully in unison.
"Just call me Fatty," San Zang replied with a casual wave of his hand.
The 1.8 meters tall San Zang had a chubby, pale complexion with skin so smooth it rivaled that of a woman’s. His slightly flattened nose and large, expressive eyes gave him an endearing and comical appearance. The most striking feature, however, was his oversized ears. They were four or five times the size of an ordinary person's. Together, these traits made him look adorably clumsy and harmless.
"Lord, do you think this man can be trusted?" Doctor asked.
San Zang stroked his triple chin thoughtfully and said, "He seems trustworthy, I suppose. For some reason, I feel a sense of familiarity from him."
Poison Wolf’s eyes lit up in excitement as he asked, "Could he be an old friend of yours, my lord?"
San Zang was known for his vast network of connections within Great Xia but also across Jiepeng. If the monkey-masked man could be confirmed as trustworthy, it would be an incredible boon for the Dragon Group members operating covertly within the Jiepeng Empire.
"Possibly," San Zang replied, his enormous ears twitching slightly. Then he added, "Although, this familiarity might also mean he’s one of my old enemies."
The Doctor and Poison Wolf were speechless. For a moment, they both entertained the thought of smacking this chubby man. Unfortunately, they couldn’t. San Zang was the Dragon Group’s strongest operative in the Jiepeng Empire.
