Stranger Danger-Chapter 1240: Who Could Escape When My Palm Covers A City?

“Where’s Ye Qing?”

One of the shadowy figures suddenly appeared behind a wobbling soldier and grabbed the back of his neck.

For whatever reason, the soldier’s eyes grew even murkier and unfocused. Then, he answered stiffly, “Maple Leaf Courtyard...”

“Take us there now,” the figure ordered.

“Yes...”

Like a puppet on strings, the soldier began walking toward Maple Leaf Courtyard.

A moment later, the soldier arrived outside Maple Leaf Courtyard. He did not enter though. Instead, he shambled back to where he came from.

Maple Leaf Courtyard wasn’t laxly guarded like the other locations. Numerous soldiers were posted in every key position. It was clear that Taba Xuanwu treated Ye Qing’s safety very seriously.

The next moment, a clear breeze blew across the courtyard, swaying the flames and triggering what looked like a ripple of power.

After that, the five figures walked into the courtyard one after another.

The five figures walked right through the front gate without bothering to cover themselves. And yet, the guards failed to notice them at all. It was almost as if they were invisible.

The flickering flames illuminated the faces of the five figures.

They were none other than Old Farmer, the evil scholar, Lady Bones, the one-eyed man and the short-tempered man.

The five warriors quickly strolled up to Ye Qing’s room. Once ready, they pushed the door open.

The next moment, their faces turned as white as a sheet, and they broke out in layers of cold sweat.

It was because two men were sitting opposite each other and holding a teacup. They were also looking straight at them with smiles on their faces.

It wasn’t surprising that someone was inside the room. After all, that was the entire point.

However, it was surprising that the person they were looking for wasn't black out drunk. In fact, he was sitting at the center of the room with calm, clear, and mindful eyes.

Even scarier was the fact that there was a second person inside the room. It wasn’t someone they were expecting either.

From what they knew, this person should be sleeping inside his room and snoring up a thunderstorm right now. He should not be here at all.

And yet he was, and his eyes were just as clear and mindful as the first person’s.

There was only one possibility. The two men had noticed their intrusion from the beginning. More accurately, the two men had anticipated their conspiracy and were just waiting for them to fall into their trap.

Without a word, the five warriors turned on their heels and escaped. It wasn’t just because their conspiracy had been discovered, but also because they had no chance against the two men inside the room.

Of course, the two men were none other than Ye Qing and Taba Xuanwu.

“I told you that someone would try and assassinate me tonight.”

Ye Qing took a sip of rich tea before setting down the cup. The clink of glass and wood made a melodious sound that sounded like rolling stones in a mountain stream.

The next moment, the five warriors trying to activate their escape trump cards suddenly lost their focus and forgot what they were trying to do.

“Birds die for food, humans die for wealth.” Taba Xuanwu sneered. “Do you really think that I, Taba Xuanwu, am just a prop?”

The teacup in Taba Xuanwu’s hand shattered, and the five warriors abruptly jolted back to reality. Swallowing down their terror as best they could, they continued to escape in every direction.

No one dared to hold back at this point. Colorful light rippled out of the square hat, the clothes, and the shoes Old Farmer was wearing. The blend of light and air of Dao made him look like a godlike being.

He took one step forward and seemingly folded space itself. He was over a kilometer away in just the blink of an eye.

The evil scholar unfolded his folding fan, and the silhouettes on the item stepped out and transformed into puffs of yin qi. They wrapped around the evil scholar and whisked him away.

Lady Bones burst into ghastly flames that rose and transformed into a bony silhouette about three hundred meters tall. The silhouette scooped Lady Bones into its arms and moved several kilometers in one step.

The blood vessels in the one-eyed man’s eye crawled out of his eye socket and transformed into a swirling river of blood. It twisted space itself and conjured a blood red vortex that the one-eyed man jumped inside without hesitation.

Finally, the short-tempered man was clearly neither versed in movement arts or escape arts. He let out an angry shout and wrapped himself in true qi and astral qi, transforming into a savage-looking beast with one horn. Then, he galloped straight toward the perimeter, knocking over all the walls and houses that happened to be in his way.

To the five warriors’ credit, they did not all run away in the same direction. Instead, they split up to maximize the chances of them escaping and living to see another day.

“Hmph!”

Taba Xuanwu let out a grunt. It was indifferent, but it caused the hair on their skin to stand on end anyway. “One does simply enter Taba Xuanwu’s domain without permission, much less leave it.”

Taba Xuanwu’s voice echoed throughout the entire city like a thunderclap, and the next moment, he broke through space and appeared right on top of Cloud Hue Pass.

Then, Taba Xuanwu brought down his palm.

As Taba Xuanwu’s palm descended, the entire Cloud Hue Pass shuddered like a palm was passing through the perfectly smooth surface of a small pond. The center of the “pond” crumpled, and water began pouring furiously into the “pit” from all sides. It was the same for the airspace of Cloud Hue Pass.

Of course, the “pond” was no pond of water. It was an unbelievable whirlpool of air currents, true qi and astral qi.

Like ants caught in a furious tide, the five warriors never stood a chance. The raging currents easily caught them and pushed them straight toward Taba Xuanwu. Their struggles were futile.

It was inevitable. What could they do when Taba Xuanwu’s palm spanned the entire city?

When Taba Xuanwu’s palm descended three inches, the five warriors who should have been several kilometers away found themselves right in front of Taba Xuanwu.

Despair and terror colored their faces. They tried to beg for mercy, but Taba Xuanwu had none to offer.

“I said that anyone who dares to start trouble or assassinate my guest at Cloud Hue Pass will die!”

Taba Xuanwu declared in a thunderous voice that would spread hundreds and hundreds of kilometers away. “These five shall be the example of my will!”

Taba Xuanwu’s palm descended another inch, and the five warriors’ insides popped like firecrackers. The next moment, they were dead in both body and mind.

On the surface though, their bodies were perfectly intact. You wouldn’t even know that they were dead if not for the fact that they weren’t breathing.

“Men! Hang these five on the gates! Show them that my will is not to be trifled with!”

Taba Xuanwu waved indifferently as the five bodies dropped to the ground. He then scanned his surroundings and said, “As for those who are fearless, do kindly show your faces. I can’t wait to test it against my palm!”

With that said, Taba Xuanwu transformed into a beam of light and returned to the Maple Leaf Courtyard.

“Sorry to trouble you, brother.”

Ye Qing was waiting for Taba Xuanwu at the courtyard. He saluted the general and said, “And thank you.”

“What trouble? It takes no more than a single finger to snuff out these ants.”

Taba Xuanwu waved him off. “I’m curious though. How did you know that these people would try to assassinate you tonight?”
