Chapter 931: 0931 Giving birth to a child? (First update)
"Mr. Ye, if there’s anything else you need, please don’t hesitate to tell me." The elderly man left these words before departing.
Ye Qiu waved his hand. "Alright."
With the door closed, the room was now occupied only by him and Caroline.
It was a presidential suite, spacious and lavishly decorated, providing an undeniably comfortable ambiance. Speaking strictly about accommodations, the reception arrangements in France were certainly commendable.
The gentleman who had just departed was the assistant to the chairman of a French medical institution. Even before Ye Qiu’s trip to France, the man had already communicated with him over the phone.
Seeing that Ye Qiu finally had some leisure time, Caroline moved closer with light steps, her actions bordered on intimate. "I’ve traveled thousands of miles to come to China, and now I’ve accompanied you to France. Are you not going to show even a little gratitude?"
Caroline spoke in a languid manner. A faint lavender fragrance emanated from her, soothing and not overpowering. Ye Qiu’s composure faltered momentarily; it seemed the queen of assassins had once again set her sights on him.
"How exactly would you like me to express my gratitude?" Ye Qiu asked. As long as he wasn’t asked to sacrifice his dignity, he felt it was manageable.
Caroline suddenly pushed Ye Qiu onto the waterbed. The bed was soft and buoyant, resembling the sensation of floating in water. Caroline straddled Ye Qiu’s waist, sitting atop him, her fingers brushing against his cheek in a gently teasing motion.
"You know what I want," Caroline whispered in his ear, her voice low and lyrical. Warm breath trailed into Ye Qiu’s ear, electrifying his senses and coursing through his body in an instant.
"Caroline, you know that I don’t want to delve too deeply into emotional matters right now," Ye Qiu said through gritted teeth, forcing the words out.
Caroline, perched dominantly, flicked her long hair seductively. Her alluring gaze was mere inches from Ye Qiu’s face, close enough for the two of them to lock eyes. From her crimson lips escaped several deliberate words: "I never said you’d have to take responsibility. What are you afraid of? I’ve waited for you all these years. Even if I were to have a child, I wouldn’t force anything upon you."
Caroline seemed to be swept up in emotion, her eyes full of affection as she gazed at Ye Qiu. This kind of gentleness was something she’d never shown to any other man—only to Ye Qiu, the man who had appeared in her life early on, disappeared for years, and now reentered her world.
"Give me a child, will you?"
Caroline’s words lingered in Ye Qiu’s ears. She wanted to bear his child?
Her intentions were crystal clear. But should he refuse? Or should he acquiesce to breaking a life-long boundary here and now?
As Ye Qiu wrestled internally with the dilemma, there was an abrupt knock at the door.
Ye Qiu quickly stood up, picking Caroline up and placing her gently off the bed, dispelling the intimate scene from moments before. His mind grew considerably clearer.
"Ha, someone’s here," Ye Qiu said with a chuckle.
Caroline looked visibly annoyed. If not for the interruption, she was confident she’d have succeeded in swaying Ye Qiu.
"Hmpf, you won’t escape my grasp. I’ll have a child with you, no matter what," Caroline muttered determinedly. She hadn’t forgotten the reason for her visit with Ye Qiu. Back home, the royal family was pushing her to marry. Although Caroline had repeatedly postponed these arrangements, she was growing weary of it all. Nevertheless, she had already decided: Ye Qiu was the one. There would never be another man capable of capturing her heart. Thus, when she initially headed to China, she set a goal for herself—to win Ye Qiu over.
However, upon arriving in China, she found someone beside Ye Qiu—Lin Qiao’er, a formidable rival. Later, Fang Sijie made her entrance as well, further complicating matters for Caroline. Realizing she needed to act swiftly, she saw Ye Qiu’s trip to France as an opportune time to execute her plan.
Little did Ye Qiu know that Caroline, the royal princess of Italy, was scheming to seduce him and have his children.
The knock turned out to be a young man delivering a card to Ye Qiu.
The card contained details about a medical conference scheduled for three days later, notifying Ye Qiu in advance to allow him time to prepare.
Ye Qiu had long since prepared for the conference. Given his intent to promote Chinese medicine, it was important to demonstrate its unique brilliance.
Nonetheless, recalling Caroline’s earlier predatory demeanor, Ye Qiu decided to pretend to be busy to avoid her advances.
Ye Qiu underestimated Caroline’s determination. That night, dressed in a crimson nightgown exuding sensual charm, she sprawled across the waterbed, rolling to and fro in an enchanting manner. Her gaze and demeanor communicated absolute invitation, making Ye Qiu wrestle internally a few times with the urge to succumb. Ultimately, however, he managed to hold back.
To act or not to act—that was the dilemma weighing heavily on him.
"No, I can’t succumb to temptation," he muttered.
"But if I don’t... wouldn’t I be beneath even the basest of men?"
Ye Qiu’s mind was filled with a tug-of-war of emotions. After all, he was a young man, brimming with vitality. Being alone in a room with Caroline, with her intoxicating allure, would have transformed most men into wolves under the moonlight long ago.
In the end, reason triumphed over desire. Recalling the vendetta of the Du Gu clan, Ye Qiu’s heart calmed. He couldn’t afford to hurt Caroline. If he failed to eradicate the enemies of the clan, any woman connected to him would face dire retaliation from those foes.
Caroline’s several attempts to seduce him failed to sway Ye Qiu, leaving her with a small sense of defeat.
But Caroline was not one to give up easily. Once she had chosen Ye Qiu, she wouldn’t turn back. She refused to believe he could withstand her temptations indefinitely.
The next day.
The chairman of the French medical institution, Emile, personally came to see Ye Qiu. He even volunteered to act as their tour guide, taking Ye Qiu to visit France’s most renowned landmarks.
Upon seeing her, Emile felt Caroline looked familiar, as though they’d met somewhere before. Caroline voluntarily revealed his name, triggering Emile’s memory. After some thought, he finally recognized Caroline’s identity, his heart shaken. He hadn’t expected the Italian princess to be so well acquainted with Ye Qiu, especially given the two were staying together.
"I didn’t recognize Princess Caroline earlier. My sincerest apologies," Emile said deferentially.
Caroline smiled warmly. "Uncle Emile, when you visited the royal palace, I was only twenty years old. It’s been so many years, so it’s understandable you wouldn’t recognize me."
Ye Qiu wasn’t surprised by their acquaintance. Caroline’s identity as the Italian royal princess was hardly modest. On the surface, Emile was merely the chairman of the medical institution, but he also held high-ranking governmental positions in France.
After recognizing Caroline, Emile adjusted the tour itinerary at the last minute. Clearly noticing the affection in Caroline’s eyes when she looked at Ye Qiu, he brought them to the first stop—a highly romantic destination: the Eiffel Tower!
"Mr. Ye, Princess Caroline, would you like to take a photo together here?" Emile suggested warmly.
Caroline naturally slipped her arm through Ye Qiu’s, leaning gently against his shoulder.
With a soft "click," a photograph began to materialize, capturing Caroline’s most radiant smile.
