Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s-Chapter 1398: Overjoyed to the Point of Stupidity
Chapter 1398: Chapter 1398: Overjoyed to the Point of Stupidity
"Son, look at your mom, acting as if she’s the clever one," Ning Yibin said discontentedly to his son-in-law.
"Of course. She’s not like you! Look at you, making the baby cry by holding him so uncomfortably, and still talking about how resounding the military songs are? It’s just embarrassing."
"Does the baby not cry when you hold him? Doesn’t he cry just the same?"
The old couple were cheerfully bickering, completely forgetting that they had been up all night. The birth of the two new little lives was enough to chase away all their fatigue.
Qin Jian stood at the window, awkwardly holding his child, looking down at the child who was crying loudly, feeling his heart filled to the brim with the joy of becoming a father for the first time.
This little bundle of flesh was wrinkly and not at all pretty, but he was the fruit of the love between himself and An Hao.
This was his and An Hao’s child!
Listening to the child’s wails, tears welled up in his eyes and soaked a large area of the blanket wrapping him.
Qin Jian felt distressed looking at this and raised his hand to wipe the tears from the little one’s face, only to have the child’s two little hands tightly grasp his finger and shove it into his small mouth.
"Son, how are you holding the baby? You’re making him cry! Give the baby to me," Zhang Yun said just after teaching Ning Yibin how to hold a baby, now she wanted to correct her son.
"Mom! Maybe the baby is hungry?" Qin Jian watched the little one struggling to stuff his finger into his mouth, his tiny mouth opening and closing, and his pair of shiny black eyes wide open, desperately trying to feed himself.
"Right!" Zhang Yun smacked her head, "You’re absolutely right. The baby hasn’t even had any milk yet. I’ve been so happy I forgot!"
"Ah, you and your ways," Ning Yibin shook his head and sighed, speaking to the child in his arms, "Your grandma is really a silly granny, leaving us all starving and still insisting on correcting others."
"Old man, you’ve caught me in the wrong now," Zhang Yun said, as she went to prepare the formula milk.
An Hao was still sleeping, and no one had the heart to wake a woman who had just gone through the life and death experience of childbirth to feed the baby.
Once the formula was ready, the two little ones were fed until they were full, then each one wet a big nappy, and without any more crying or fussing, they closed their eyes and quietly fell asleep.
Having settled the two children, Qin Jian went to make some calls home to report the good news, informing both his father-in-law and his brother-in-law.
The news spread quickly, and within less than a day, everyone who should know did.
And so, they all flocked to the hospital.
The first to arrive were Zhang Jianguo and his wife, who had come the day before to check on the situation. Anticipating the birth today, they packed some things and hurried over.
After asking the nurses for the ward location, they hurried over and at the door, listening to the silence, they pushed open the door and were amused by the scene in front of them.
An Hao lay on the hospital bed, deeply asleep, while Qin Jian perched by the bed without blinking, watching her. The two little ones were sleeping peacefully, and the grandparents also gazed intently at the children.
They looked so focused, as if afraid of missing even an instant of the children’s growth.
"Commander!" Zhang Jianguo walked in gently, giving Ning Yibin a military salute, "Congratulations, Commander, on the promotion to grandfather!"
Ning Yibin laughed heartily: "Jianguo, come take a look! See how my little grandson is doing?"
