The Billionaire's Rental Wife Is A Hot Shot-Chapter 106: Honeymoon Phase
Chapter 106: Honeymoon Phase
Evelyn’s mouth widened in surprise at Kiana’s words. She looked at Natalie beside her and then back at Kiana, not sure if her daughter was serious right now. From the way, her best friend, Avery always fought with Damien, she thought they would end up together but it seemed her guess was wrong. Very wrong!
"What are you guys talking about?" Elias asked with a frown. He walked inside and Kiana immediately stood on the bed to give her Mommy a big tight hug.
"I miss you both so much," Kiana murmured with a pout, her little hands wrapped around Evelyn’s neck firmly. No one forced her to go to school for the past few days and staying at home all day was both worrisome and boring. The little girl couldn’t stop thinking about her parents all day even though everyone assured her they were fine now.
"Aww, me too!" Evelyn replied, hugging her back with one hand. Gently patting her head, she added, "But we will come home soon! I promise!"
Kiana’s eyes widened in delight. Breaking the hug, she asked, "Really?" When Evelyn nodded, the little girl murmured with a pout, "But Grandpa Will said it’s better if you stay here for a few more days."
Evelyn blinked in confusion and looked at her brother standing beside Natalie.
Elias broke into a smile and stated, "She had been staying with us since yesterday. And Dad suggested it’s better if you stay here for more than a week since you won’t rest back at home."
William requested that Kiana could come with him and Rosalind agreed to it, sending the little girl with her new grandfather. Both talked a lot and didn’t leave each other the entire day, talking mostly about Evelyn and how she was during her childhood at Kiana’s curious questions. William even pushed Sophia out of their room since Kiana was fast asleep beside him. And Elias was sure, this little girl was going to be the bridge between the father and daughter, though his sister strongly believed she was now a stranger.
Evelyn didn’t know how to react, a mix of emotions running inside her. William was slowly trying to mend the gap between them, though he knew she wasn’t his real daughter but she was afraid of getting her hopes too high. She had foolishly yearned for it for the past twenty years but now that the moment had come to life, it felt weird.
"So, Uncle Damien won the battle?" Kiana’s excited voice brought Evelyn out of her thoughts, driving her attention back to their earlier discussion. The curious girl glanced between her Aunt Natalie and Evelyn, her eyes filled with innocent curiosity.
"What battle?" Just then, Avery entered the room, her question making Natalie sigh out loud.
"Did Damien propose to you?" Evelyn softly asked Natalie, her voice barely above a whisper. But with everyone surrounding them and all ears eager to hear the answer, she was sure Natalie wouldn’t utter a word.
"It was a prank," Natalie replied, her fingers fidgeting with her dress. Her expression stiffened when Avery came to stand behind her chair, making Evelyn even more curious about it.
"What battle?" Avery asked again since no one answered her yet. She looked at Evelyn and Natalie before landing on Elias who simply shrugged in response, having no clue just like her.
"She was talking about catching Sabrina," Evelyn lied with a small smile, adjusting Kiana’s hair which was a cue for her daughter to agree to it. The little girl instantly nodded with a bright smile at her Aunt Avery, playing along with her mother.
Avery didn’t pay much attention to it and cursed that bastard in her head. He had left without giving her a proper answer, leaving her both enraged and suspicious about his marriage stunt. But Evelyn’s health came before it and she decided to ignore it for a few days since they wouldn’t be leaving any time soon.
"I have some good news!" Avery broke the silence with a smile. When Evelyn looked at her, she continued, "Your husband will be shifted to the room next to this one so you can sneak out comfortably."
"She sneaked out?" Elias grumbled with a frown, displeased about it. Evelyn was still sick and needed to stay in her bed!
"Yes! Both sneaked out to see each other and ended up meeting in the hallway." Avery replied with a smile. It was romantically so cheesy and felt like a scene in a movie that even the doctors decided to give up and shift Zevian to a normal ward.
"Yay! So, I can see Daddy too?" Kiana asked, standing up on the bed beside Evelyn. When Avery nodded, she opened her arms and pleaded, "Please take me to him now! I want to see him!"
"Can I come too?" Natalie asked, turning toward Avery. No one was allowed to meet him and they all badly wanted to though the hospital had their own protocols and safety measures.
Avery thought for a while and nodded with a smile. "But I don’t think they would allow us inside the room since he just fell asleep after a few tests." She added, recalling how the doctors didn’t allow Damien and Lucius inside. They went to talk with the main doctor looking at Zevian who was the one that assured to shift him by tonight.
"We will be back soon, Mommy," Kiana said, cupping Evelyn’s face. Planting a kiss on her forehead, she quickly left with her Aunts, leaving Evelyn alone with Elias.
Elias sat on the chair beside his sister and Evelyn smiled at him. Ruffling his hair, she murmured, "You must have been too tired these days." The poor guy had to start taking over business at such a young age. Though many families forced their kids to learn from an early age, it was different for Elias. He never had plans of becoming the CEO and thought she would eventually be the one, but fate just turned their world upside down.
"It’s not that bad," Elias replied with a sigh. "But you scared the shit out of me again." He grumbled with a pout, holding onto her hand.
Evelyn smiled in response, her heart swelling with happiness. It was really odd how even being step-siblings, they bonded so well and how this little rabbit of hers that used to run around her all day was still the same.
"Ah, you are getting emotional, aren’t you?" Elias spoke, noticing the way his sister looked at him.
"Yeah, and I need a hug!" Evelyn replied, opening her hand. When Elias scowled, she pleaded with a pout, "Oh, come on! I am sick, bedridden."
"Alright," Elias murmured, getting up and hugging her carefully. But when Evelyn’s arm tightened around his neck, he groaned in annoyance. "You are being clingy!"
"It’s fine to be clingy sometimes." Evelyn chuckled out loud, enjoying as Elias grumbled to stop it like he always did whenever she hugged him.
The day passed quickly for Evelyn, being surrounded by the people who actually loved her and talking with others on the phone. Elias left since he had a meeting and Natalie took Kiana home, leaving just Avery in the room. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
Evelyn kept looking at the time and then at the door, making Avery shake her head. "Should I call and ask when they are moving him?"
"Yes!" Evelyn replied almost immediately before realizing her friend was just teasing her.
Avery broke into a chuckle and patted Evelyn’s head with a smile. "Let’s wait for a few more minutes. He will be here soon."
Evelyn shrugged away her hand and leaned back on the bed, a frown tugging her lips. If it was possible, she would have sneaked out again but Avery had become more of her prisoner than her care-taker. She hadn’t seen him for the entire day and it was really getting frustrating with every passing second.
Just then, they heard the sounds of someone walking through the hall and both peeked out of the opened door. A groan escaped Evelyn’s mouth to find some strangers just passing away. Avery shook her head with a silly smile and continued looking through the work left pending from the past few days.
"Be careful," Damien’s voice rang through the hallway and Evelyn quickly got down the bed. Wearing her slippers, she walked to the door, ignoring Avery who grumbled to walk slowly.
A bright smile spread across her lips as soon as her eyes fell on Zevian being moved to a wheelchair. Damien and Lucius followed closely behind the hospital staff who helped and accompanied the patient.
"Why don’t you guys just shift him to this room?" Avery asked the staff. "It will save them energy from walking."
The doctor looked troubled since his senior had ordered him to move him to the room next to Evelyn’s ward. "I am sorry, but we can’t." He murmured with an apologetic smile.
"Oh, come on! Don’t separate the love birds." Avery said with a pout. "They are still in their honeymoon phase!" And her words made not just Evelyn but even the hospital staff blush.
