Chapter 81: Chapter 79: Speed Zombies

Zhuang Mei’s body began to mutate. Su Mo drew her blade, straddled Zhuang Mei to immobilize her, and with sorrowful eyes, swiftly beheaded her.

When she came out, the mutations outside had become even more numerous.

Su Mo, with a stern face, cleanly chopped off the head of a zombie that lunged at her with blood-stained hands.

"Close the door! Hurry and close the dormitory door!" Ai Yang was knocked to the ground by a zombie that he held by the neck with his elbow while he turned his head and shouted at Su Mo.

Su Mo glanced at him, pulled out a gun, and blasted the head off the zombie on him.

She walked to the first-floor entrance; Lu Chen and the others had not yet completed their evolution. She had to guard this place at all costs.

Outside, countless zombies freed from their cells were rushing towards them.

Su Mo hastily closed the main door as a girl with a ponytail rushed out. She recognized her as the one whose boyfriend had died.

The girl stood in front of the main door, her arms flailing wildly as she tried to close them in the middle. The concrete beneath sprouted soil, and a half-meter-thick earthen wall slowly rose.

One of the Evolution Species saw that she was motionless and charged at them from the corridor.

Su Mo knew she must protect the girl. She threw her knife into the System Bag and fired at the Evolution Species while sprinting toward the corridor where it was located.

Just as they were about to collide, Su Mo stepped on the wall to the right, leaped into the air, and mounted the zombie’s neck, twisting its chin viciously with both hands.

Accompanied by the sound of bones cracking, she knelt on one knee to the ground, as the zombie behind her crashed down.

Ai Yang called on others to protect the girl with the ponytail as their center and spread outward. He had seen Su Mo kill zombies from start to finish before, and despite her small stature, her combat prowess did not fall short of theirs; in fact, her ferocity even surpassed them.

As the horde of zombies reached them, the earthen wall rose, temporarily separating them from the ordinarily mutated people outside.

The girl, having exhausted her strength, knelt to the ground.

With no new zombies entering, those inside the dormitory were quickly cleared, allowing them a moment to breathe.

Bodies were everywhere around them, and the walls and ceiling were covered in a grisly mix of crimson blood and repulsive mucous; the scene resembled a slaughterhouse.

The air smelled nauseating.

Su Mo’s hands trembled slightly; she seemed to have failed to save anyone.

Ai Yang’s people were discussing how to break out, thinking they were temporarily safe inside the dormitory.

However, the sound of glass shattering in a room on the first floor sent chills up Su Mo’s spine, and she immediately ran to the staircase: "Something got in!"

Her heart raced uncontrollably, as if to warn her this was no ordinary Evolution Species.

She immediately shouted at Ai Yang and the others: "Everyone gather together! No matter what, don’t let it get to the second floor!"

Ai Yang led everyone to huddle together and block the staircase.

Su Mo stood in front, her ears upright and heart beating like thunder.

She couldn’t determine exactly which room the noise was coming from; the roaring outside her ears was distracting.

Following the sound of a table and chairs being knocked over, Su Mo quickly raised her gun and focused her gaze inside the right-hand corridor on the first floor.

Without a Spiritual Superpower User at her side now, she had to rely on utmost concentration on her own.

"Are those the evolved zombies?" Ai Yang asked softly.

Su Mo shook her head and denied it outright, "Impossible, if that were the case, they would have appeared by now."

As soon as her words fell, a door in the corridor to their right was completely smashed and hit the opposite wall.

Everyone’s heart was highly tense.

Slowly, the creature revealed its true form.

It was an evolved male zombie, there was no doubt about that, but to Su Mo’s horror, it was crawling on its knees and hands on the ground like a dog, constantly making hissing noises.

"It might be an evolved zombie with broken legs," said a male student glowing with a golden light from behind Ai Yang as he stepped out of the circle, "I’ll go and kill it."

"Don’t go," Su Mo quickly stopped him, could an evolved species with broken legs climb the three-meter-high wall of the prison’s first floor, kick through the window and come in?

Ignoring her, the man radiated even brighter golden light and slowly moved toward the creature.

As they got closer, Su Mo held her gun and slowly raised it, aiming right between the zombie’s brows; the next second, it disappeared from her sight.

Her heart was ringing alarm bells; the evolved species’s speed was merely a blur.

In an instant, it appeared next to the audacious Gold Element Superpower User, whose legs had been kneeling before, and suddenly leapt onto him, biting viciously towards his head.

The superpower user used all his superpowers on his head barely preventing the bite from piercing through his skull.

Su Mo aimed her gun at it and opened fire furiously, the other superpower users’ abilities bursting in a prism of colors, but the creature’s speed was too fast; aside from a blur, she couldn’t see anything.

"This zombie has superpowers," she yelled. A strange breeze suddenly blew through her hair, and without thinking, Su Mo immediately crouched down and covered her head.

A few strands of hair fell from the sky; it had been cut from her head.

When she was about to raise her gun to fire again, it had disappeared.

Ai Yang and the others couldn’t lock onto this super-powered zombie; they were only defending passively. If this continued, they would run out of superpowers soon and eventually become mere food for the zombie.

"This way won’t work," Ai Yang said anxiously.

"They won’t progress this fast; we must hold it off," Su Mo said through clenched teeth, a frosty expression on her lovely face, "I’ll lure it out. The moment it appears, you must find a way to attack it."

Ai Yang nodded; in such dire times, having someone act as bait was more than welcome; they couldn’t miss this chance by any means.

Su Mo walked away from them, standing in the lobby on the first floor. She threw her gun on the ground and magically brought out a Tang Blade, glancing at the students before cutting her arm, letting the blood drip down to the floor.

This suicide-like behavior seemed to the students like a gamble with her life.

Su Mo relied solely on the system’s sense of imminent danger and the sounds echoing in her ears to make judgments.

There she stood alone in the lobby until the sense of crisis in her heart peaked and the sound of something cutting through the air reached her ears again, her eyes hardened as she instantly dove to the ground, growling, "Kill it!"

Enduring the pain in her arm, she held the knife across her chest, the creature’s claws inches away—she didn’t give it a chance to dodge, she swept its legs causing it to fall and then lunged, grappling with it on the ground. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

The close combat techniques Lu Chen had taught her were tremendously effective at this moment.

Her legs wrapped around its neck; she picked up the gun, but her hands wet with slime were too slippery to fire. She could only drop the gun and use her hands to hold it still.

"Quick!"
