Chapter 65: Thrall Chaining Spell

Dani blinked at Chancellor Abel.

'How dare you! I'll kill you!' she inwardly hissed, knowing how the Chancellor had just compelled her against her will. For the first time, she regretted complaining and asking for their Queen to get the King to remove the shadow knight following her around.

"What are you doing?!" she barked out as she walked inside his cabin against her will.

"Don't worry, I'll just ask you a few questions, Lady Dani," Abel chuckled. "After we're done, you'll never even remember anything."

"How dare you compel me…" Dani annoyingly grunted.

"Sit down and stay seated," he commanded, pointing at the nearest available chair beside her.

Dani did as was instructed to her with a dark expression on her face. Likewise, Abel grabbed a chair and sat right before her.

Unknown to him, however, Dani had already started chanting a spell out in her mind. It would be the first time she would execute such a spell, but she was hoping she would succeed despite her lack of confidence that the spell would even work.

"Now tell me, what are you doing in front of my door?" Abel questioned.

"I was following Rosela," she answered against her will.

Abel snapped his brows and murmured, "Rosela came to my door?"

"Yes."

Lifting his eyebrow, he then asked, "Why are you following her?"

"I'm suspicious of her."

Dani inwardly cursed.

"Why are you suspicious?"

"I saw you were with her during the first dawn we were on the ship," she droned out. "You were carrying her around like you were her lover…"

"Sneaky mouse…" Abel hummed with a grin.

"Stop this! This isn't right," she complained. "You're invading my privacy!"

"And what you're doing right now isn't the same thing?" he challenged. "You were following Rosela. I don't even see the point of how it's suspicious for me to carry Rosela when she was simply unconscious at the time. I, as a gentleman who saw her in a vulnerable state, simply carried her back to her cabin…"

Dani's face paled. Such a thought never even crossed her mind. She would usually follow her instincts, however, and somehow she was still not convinced by what the Chancellor just said to her.

"You look unconvinced," he hummed. "Tell me, Lady Dani… What exactly did you really think the moment you saw me with Lady Rosela at the time?

'Damn it!' Dani inwardly cursed as her long chant still kept on going. 'Why is this taking so long?!'.

"You two are secret lovers," she blandly responded.

"And so what if we're secret lovers?" he further questioned, not breaking eye contact with her to keep her under his spell. "Why did you need to follow Rosela around?"

"Rosela… I think she's dangerous, especially to Her Majesty," she answered.

'I need him closer but I can't get out of this chair,' she mused. She needed precise movement. Her arms were too short to even reached him at his distance.

"And why do you think she is dangerous?" Abel asked.

Dani answered, and she managed to say it quietly enough for Abel to be unable to hear her.

"What?" he frowned. "Speak up."

She opened her mouth once more, and Abel's frown deepened as he moved closer to better hear her words.

'Closer…' Dani inwardly chanted as she watched Abel scoot ever so slowly. And once he was close enough, she bit down her lower lip hard with enough force to spill blood.

As expected, Abel was caught off guard and was distracted by the blood on her lips. Taking advantage, she moved quickly and immediately clung her arms tightly around his neck.

"You!"

Abel groaned at her actions, but it was too late. Dani had already pressed her lips against his and had let him have a taste of her blood. She then bit down on his lip and drank some of his blood from the wound.

Having gotten what she needed, she murmured out the last phrase of her spell before quickly disengaging while wiping off the blood still staining her lips.

"What did you do?" Abel groaned.

"The Thrall Chaining," Dani hummed with a smirk. "Stand up!"

Abel's eyes widened as he stood up against his will, Dani's eyes widened as she got up and burst out, "I did it!"

It was amazing. She had somehow managed to make her spell work on the first try. But before she could celebrate further, her knees wobbled, making her slump back down to the floor. The Thrall Chaining was a powerful spell and looked like it took a toll on her energy reserves.

"You…" Abel growled. "Removed that spell on me this instant or-"

He stopped midsentence as she threw him a gaze sharp enough to kill him on the spot if it could actually deal damage.

"You started this, Chancellor! If you didn't compel me in the first place and just let me go, then this would've happened!" she heatedly scowled. "I only did what I thought was right to survive your compulsion. From now on, you won't be able to hypnotize and compel me. You will be chained to me as your Master from here on…"

"Undo this spell this instant or-"

"Or what? Do you want me to tell our King and Queen about how you compelled me against my will?" Dani challenged. "Or perhaps tell them about your illicit connection and relationship with Lady Rosela?"

"You can't keep this spell on me. You don't know what you just did," Abel threatened. "The last thing you'd want is to get involved with me, milady… You… don't know what's coming to you because of this foolish spell you've used. You just invited danger into your life."

"I don't intend to keep you chained to me for too long, Chancellor," Dani coolly stated. "I'll undo the spell as soon as I make sure that you will no longer be a threat to my Queen… So until then, you will behave well for me so that I won't use my authority over you."

"You'll regret this," he growled.

Dani scoffed as she turned to try and stand back up, only to fail as she weakly wobbled on her feet. "Damn," she vocally cursed out in annoyance.

Trying once more, she was almost back on her feet when she fell yet again. This time, however, Abel was there to catch her.

"You…" she gasped. "What are you doing?"

"I'm bringing you back to your cabin, Lady Dani. It looks like it'll take some time for you to regain your composure after using that powerful spell," Abel nonchalantly stated. "I'm a gentleman, after all. And although we just had this unfortunate event between us, it's simply in my nature to help out those in need."

Dani frowned as she stared at the man. Seeing his actions now, she couldn't help but wonder if he was being genuine or not. Was he really that harmful if he was being kind like this?
