The Devil's Betrothed-Chapter 701: Meeting Luis and Elord
Chapter 701: Meeting Luis and Elord
Rina offered her an apologetic look, "So what happened next?"
"Lord Wynter. Aaron father and the lord of North part, loved his sister dearly. When he realized who his sister truly loved, he broke off her previous engagement and married her to Lord Rainier. Since then, the relationship between the two families became even stronger. Under their reigns, the northeast became the wealthiest, strongest, and largest territory in the kingdom."
Gwen then looked at Aaron. "Aaron must remember their wedding. It was the grandest wedding of that time." It was her attempt to make him talk and make him feel like a part of this family.
Aaron nodded. "I do remember. I was sad to give my aunt away to someone else." ƒгeewebnovёl.com
Gwen chuckled. "We still remember you crying and asking her not to go, even though she was only going to be just one wall apart."
A light smile appeared on Aaron’s lips. "She took care of me more than my mother did. I used to follow her everywhere she went. I even hated Lord Rainier for marrying her and taking her away."
"But then you finally forgave Lord Rainier after Lucian was born and thanked him for giving you a brother," Gwen added.
"It was the most amazing day when I held him in my arms," Aaron added, "Finally, there was someone younger than me, and I could be a big brother. I was so happy to have a younger brother."
Seeing Aaron talk normally about the past, Nathaniel and Arthur felt relieved, especially after witnessing him cry just a few hours earlier. Having family around truly made a difference.
Nathaniel looked at Rina and said, "I truly like you, young lady. Will you be my sister as well?"
"Of course. I don’t mind having another wealthy brother," she replied with a grin. "So now I have three brothers. I’m sure I won’t have to worry about anything and can spend my life rolling in wealth."
"You’re becoming greedy," Gwen interrupted her.
"What’s wrong with that?" Rina asked innocently. "It’s just my good fortune to have wealthy brothers, and one should never deny their destiny."
"This girl," Gwen sighed.
"Mother, stop worrying about me and worry about your son," Rina said, turning her attention to Lucian. "I see Lord Rainier was smart when it came to women, but your son is a blockhead. He wouldn’t even realize if a woman liked him, even if she stood right in front of him."
"Stop spouting nonsense and focus on your meal," Gwen scolded, then looked at Lucian. "Ignore her."
As usual, Lucian remained calm, as if nothing could shake him.
"Rina, what kind of woman would suit your other brother, Aaron?" Nathaniel asked with a teasing smile.
"What’s there to ask about? Isn’t he already engaged to the best woman?" Rina replied. "There’s no one better than Lady Erin, of course other than Oriana." As she spoke, she glanced at Lucian, but he remained impassive. Internally, she wanted to scream at him and pull his ear for being so dense.
Nathaniel, sitting next to Aaron, nudged him. "See? Rina and I share the same opinion. You and Erin would make a perfect pair. She’s the companion you truly need in life."
In response, Aaron simply hummed and said, "Talk less and eat more. We have to leave for the military base."
"I’m coming as well," Lucian, who had been quiet until now, finally spoke up.
Aaron nodded, understanding that the pursuit of justice and revenge wasn’t his alone—Lucian deserved to punish those responsible as well.

After riding for half an hour, they reached the military base. Everyone bowed to the new lords of the territory.
Under Arthur’s lead, they were guided straight to the prison cells. "I’ll take you directly to the section reserved for our most elite guests," Arthur explained, especially to Lucian. "Elites are those who have crossed all boundaries of crime and deserve the most creative and brutal punishment."
They walked through long corridors lined with small cells holding captives. The farthest section was larger, with various arrangements for punishment.
As they reached this part, Aaron spotted his targets locked inside the cells. The anger he felt upon seeing Luis and Elrod surged within him, and all he could think about was how to make them suffer in the worst ways possible.
He glanced at Lucian, who was also looking at them. Lucian’s demeanor was calm, but Aaron could sense that behind those calm, kind-looking eyes, there was something darker. Just like Aaron, Lucian wanted to tear them apart.
But on the other hand, Aaron was relieved that Lucian had been a baby at the time and had no memories of what had happened back then. If he did, Aaron was certain that Lucian’s heart would be as dark as his own. He was glad Lucian had been spared those horrific memories.
Elrod and Luis looked at them but said nothing, fully aware of what awaited them. Meanwhile, Grace was curled up in a corner, trying to hide in fear.
Aaron turned to Lucian. "I’ll leave Elrod for you once I’m done with him."
Elrod was the one who had killed Colin Rainier while Luis had dealt with the Wynters. Aaron first needed to settle the score with Elord for what he did with his mother and sister.
Lucian nodded, understanding Aaron and his emotions all too well.
Aaron stepped into Elrod’s cell, finding a man who looked back at him with the same arrogance in his eyes that had been there years ago, though now aged. There was no fear of death in his gaze.
Aaron looked down at him. "It’s good that you’re not so old yet. It means I can make you suffer for as long as I want without letting you die."
Elrod chuckled. "You want to make me suffer? Do you want me to tell you what real pain is?"
Aaron remained calm and composed, though his eyes betrayed the anger simmering beneath the surface. "No need. I’ll find out soon enough after I experiment with my methods on you. I won’t keep you waiting long, rest assured."
As Aaron turned to leave, he heard Elrod speak again. "True suffering is what your sister went through. Don’t you want to know how she died in just one night?"
