The Duke's Masked Wife 2: The Prince's Outcast Bride-Chapter 89: Duties (1)
Chapter 89: Duties (1)
Noah prepared himself to hear news of his son ending up captured by the town guards or found dead somewhere because of the silly games he wanted to play.
Noah had long noticed that Warren had grown to be someone who wanted what others have. When Kate told many stories of how she was once spoiled and the home they stayed in was testament to that, Warren wanted to live well above what he could afford.
"We should have sold it and left," Noah said, regretting the decisions they made.
After the death of Kate’s uncle, Noah proposed the idea of selling the mansion since it was too much for them to manage and they would have more money, but Kate was against it. Kate did not want to get rid of her childhood home.
This home was the one thing Kate had left which reminded her of her old days. She didn’t want to move to a smaller home, and Noah had no right to do it behind her back since it was all in her name.
Before Clark passed, he protected all that Kate owned, so her husband had no claim to it. Noah didn’t know how a man like Clark managed to do it, but he didn’t bother to change it around so he would be in control of Kate’s money.
Noah already had what belonged to him for staying with Kate.
"He’s going to get all of us in trouble," Noah whispered, annoyed by Warren’s behaviour.
It would have been more suited for him and Kate not to have a child. Then Noah wouldn’t have to worry about Edgar nor hear about Simon’s old home.
"He has to go," Noah decided.
Before Warren could drag them all down with him, he needed to leave. Noah hadn’t signed up to be killed.
The only issue he would face was Kate not wanting to send Warren away. Kate had her flaws, but she truly loved Warren, though she had a terrible way of showing it at times.
Noah was stuck, not knowing what to do besides keeping an eye on Warren.
Noah walked toward the door, heading out of the library to go to Kate. It was time that he convinced her that Warren should find a wife and leave. Even if it took giving Warren the home belonging to Simon.

Far away from the Kennedy home, Tyrion arrived at the palace.
Despite promising to stay at home with Penelope, Tyrion still showed up under Penelope’s request to see his brother. Penelope claimed to be worried about Teo, but Tyrion knew she wanted to get him out of their home because she was still thinking about last night.
Tyrion smiled, recalling their time this morning. She had been perfectly fine when she went to bed, but in the morning, Penelope could not meet his eyes.
Still, Penelope kissed him goodbye and spoke of waiting for his return. She had practically pushed him out the door during their goodbye.
When she had this side to her, how could he not want to tease her?
During his walk in the palace, Tyrion noticed something strange. The palace was awfully quiet as though something bad had happened. He had been in the palace long enough for the court to learn of his presence, yet no one tried to cross paths with him.
"Luther, did the men in the court all die? Please tell me it is so," Tyrion said, inquiring from the guard behind him.
"I believe they are all still alive," Luther replied.
"And here I was going to buy wine on my way home. Find out what has happened in my absence," Tyrion ordered Luther.
Silence in the palace was never good. It meant the court were plotting and were waiting for their moment to strike.
Luther left Tyrion’s side to find news.
Tyrion continued on his search for his brother and father. He wanted a second talk with his father to let it be known that he didn’t wish to fight with his father. Tyrion also needed it to be known that he didn’t hate his father.

Tyrion stopped, turning to his right where he heard his grandmother’s voice.
Tabitha Castro, mother of the king, slowly approached her grandson. "This is what it takes for me to have a word with my grandson. I must be so lucky to cross paths with you. Don’t I deserve better?"
Tabitha wasn’t pleased to hear that Tyrion had not only vanished in the late hours of the night to get married, but he had not informed her. She was at least owed some notice of it instead of finding out from the courts’ complaints.
"Penelope and I received your letter to sit with you. We were deciding on the best day to meet with you," said Tyrion.
"I don’t believe it. Tell me, why did you act so fast? If there was a need for you to wed so fast, the palace could have taken care of it," Tabitha spoke softly.
"Grandmother, Penelope is not with child if that is what you are trying to insinuate. She has never once strayed from what she was taught," said Tyrion.
Tabitha knew well not to trust young ladies these days. They were not as proper as the women back in her day. Nowadays, young ladies do anything to find themselves in a better place, even if they have to give up their purity before a wedding.
"It was all so soon. What else was I to think?" Tabitha asked, sticking to her assumption.
"You are to think that I wouldn’t have done anything appropriate to Penelope to tarnish her name. She is not carrying any child. We did nothing before our marriage, not even a kiss," Tyrion said, annoyed by such assumptions.
"Then, it makes no sense why you married so suddenly, and now Teo will take the throne. You are the oldest. You are the one meant to sit on the throne," Tabitha said, bothered by how much had changed. "You must bring her to the palace and reclaim your place on the throne."
"I won’t be doing that. Teo will become the next king. It has already been settled," Tyrion said, standing on his decision.
Tabitha shook her head. "You will disrupt what the palace has been preparing for. Other kingdoms have heard it is you who would take the throne. Think of how it looks on our part. You have gotten the lady you wanted, now you must fulfil your duty. You owe the palace."
Tyrion placed his hands behind his back as he stepped away from his grandmother. "The palace will have a new king. That is all that matters. As for Penelope meeting with you, I don’t think that shall happen soon."
