The Elf Journey In The Western Fantasy World-Chapter 83: The Demon’s Idea of Friendship
Chapter 83: The Demon’s Idea of Friendship
After all, he couldn’t very well say to N’zall’s face that every time his father mentioned him, it was with grumbling curses and a barely restrained desire to fight him. Anyone with an ounce of emotional intelligence wouldn’t say that aloud.
Sure enough, N’zall was deeply moved by those words. "I’m truly happy to hear that my old friend still remembers me. If I had known this back then, I would’ve made sure we fought a few more rounds before parting ways. I shouldn’t have held myself back at all."
Seoryun: ???
Illiya: ...
Drow: ...
Darius: ...
Seoryun looked utterly stunned. He rubbed his ears in disbelief, looking like someone who’d just experienced an auditory hallucination.
Illiya leaned over to Seoryun’s side and gently tugged on the sleeve of the thoroughly baffled king, whispering, "Demons are a warlike people. For them, the way to express friendship... is to fight each other."
Seoryun: "..."
Okay. Fine.
He understood now—truly, deeply understood.
No wonder his father always cursed N’zall’s name and looked like he’d throttle him if given the chance. So that was the reason. Who could endure being dragged into fights day after day?
N’zall pulled out a handkerchief from his spatial ring and began dabbing the tears forming at the corners of his eyes,. His voice was choked with emotions, "So... is your father doing well these days? Should I go visit him now? It’s been over fifty years, and we’ve yet to properly spar again."
Seoryun’s scalp tingled, and he quickly refused, "After I ascended to the throne, my father took my mother and went traveling. Honestly, I don’t know where they are now, let alone how to get in touch with them."
Father, I’ve tried my best to protect your life.
I sincerely hope you’re safe and sound wherever you are.
N’zall looked genuinely disappointed. "Is that so? What a shame. It’s been so long since we’ve deepened our friendship."
Seoryun could only stand off to the side, forcing a stiff smile, completely speechless. What else could he do? He was in despair.
What a pitiful, humble king he had become.
Thankfully, Illiya picked up on Seoryun’s desperate, pleading look for help and quickly shifted the conversation.
"N’zall, earlier you mentioned that the demon realm calculates the timing of the border opening differently from how it’s done here on the continent? And is it really possible to travel straight from Areuseon Kingdom to the demon realm?"
Upon hearing a question from the elf prince he respected second only to the Demon King, N’zall immediately pushed aside his regrets and answered earnestly.
"On our side, the border opens once every month and stays open for seven days. During those seven days, demons can enter and leave freely. That’s why you encountered Ke’Oth and me right now."
Ever since N’zall had brought up Seoryun’s father’s name, Ke’Oth had instinctively faded into the background, acting like a piece of scenery. As someone with nearly zero presence, he remained silently on the sidelines.
Among the seven top figures in the demon realm, Ke’Oth was the least sociable. Naturally, anything to do with friends or friendship didn’t interest him in the slightest.
He only reacted whenever the name "Ke’Oth" was mentioned. Just like now.
Ke’Oth picked up N’Zall’s words automatically, saying, "The Demon Realm and the main continent are fundamentally different. As for why we say you can travel directly from Areuseon Kingdom to the Demon Realm, it’s entirely because, after reconciliation, Areuseon Kingdom and the Demon Realm successfully established diplomatic relations. In fact, that teleportation array deep in your royal palace is not a continental teleportation array, but a sub-continental one."
Illiya and his companions were completely stunned.
So Areuseon Kingdom was the one hiding the deepest secrets all along?!
While the Continental Allied Forces were still assembling their troops, preparing to cross the treacherous continental boundary that offered a one-in-a-thousand chance of survival, what about the demons? The demons had already long prepared an escape route on the continent—one that was actually located in the backyard of the Continental Allied Forces.
The moment this thought crossed Illiya’s mind, he couldn’t help but click his tongue in disbelief.
If that were really the case, then this sub-continental boundary may have existed on the continent for hundreds of years already. But a new question then arose in his mind. There had been thousands of great wars over the millennia—so why did the demons keep losing most of the time?
It was something he couldn’t quite comprehend. If the demons frequently lost before the establishment of diplomatic ties, that would make sense. But after establishing relations, for them to still consistently lose—now that was truly strange.
However, the topic was just too sensitive. Illiya didn’t dare to ask directly and could only bury the question deep in his heart, keeping his mouth shut.
Swallowing the words that had almost left his lips, Illiya pressed his lips together, feeling a tightness in his chest. He suddenly didn’t know what to say anymore.
Thankfully, Ke’Oth broke the silence at just the right moment.
"So if you want to go to the Demon Realm in the future, you can just enter through Areuseon Kingdom," Ke’Oth concluded. Then his tone shifted slightly. "Your Esteemed Elf, didn’t you mention something about a fallen demon appearing in Areuseon Kingdom? When we started talking about the sub-continental boundary, it suddenly reminded me of that incident."
"The appearance of demons in Areuseon Kingdom might really be our fault."
"Because the sub-continental boundary is located in Areuseon Kingdom, that’s probably why this happened." Seoryun interrupted Ke’Oth before he could finish. "But this isn’t really a problem. When our elders decided to install a sub-continental boundary in the royal palace, they had already prepared themselves for the consequences."
Ke’Oth looked at Seoryun with some surprise, seemingly not expecting him to say such a thing.
After a brief pause, Ke’Oth spoke again. "The chaos caused by demons isn’t the most serious issue. Any demon with a bit of intelligence and capability wouldn’t go around causing mayhem on the main continent. It’s truly disgraceful for the demons. Only those who feel they can’t secure survival resources in the Demon Realm would resort to such cowardly actions."
