Chapter 305: Crown

The timing seemed not right, but as they said, it didn’t need to always be right. They were only doing what their hearts were urging them to do.

Before things went down, before they settled the accounts of both the past and the present, giving each other what they both wanted was the first priority.

Walking with entangled hands, Arren and Spade had no intention of letting go of each other. The joy and satisfaction they shared at that moment were only confined between the two of them, but they didn’t care much.

At times like this, it was better that way.

"Where are we going?" Arren looked up and asked, playing with Spade’s fingers.

Despite them passing by a group of guards, they acted like no one was around as they still continued to be intimate. And it wasn’t only them either; everyone seemed to get the memo, and while some respectfully bowed before the emperor, no one voiced out any greetings, not daring to interrupt them.

Spade’s expression was also much lighter, and the faint smile on his lips had not faded ever since.

"Remember my gift?" Instead of answering, he asked.

Arren immediately got it.

"You mean, the key?"

That luxurious key was embedded with gems and diamonds all over.

Spade nodded, smiling through his eyes. Seeing him like this, Arren was also affected, and he was feeling giddy since he knew why his alpha was like this. And he was feeling the same way.

Arren was happy to see Spade happy and the noticeable different aura around him. It was soft and without any gloom, which made him more glad.

"What about it?" Arren asked again, hugging Spade’s arms, being coquettish.

And no one would be able to chide him because, ahem... They were now engaged. Arren laughed inside of him. Spade was now his fiancee! His mood was also easily discernible in his expression.

"I’ll tell you the second part." frёeωebɳovel.com

That key was never a stand-alone gift. And in fact, Spade didn’t consider it an actual gift from the start. That item was for Arren to begin with.

Arren’s curiosity was immediately piqued; ever since he got it, he had already eager to know what the purpose of that key was, but neither Spade nor his father had told him anything.

His eyes shone and he eagerly tugged on Spade’s arm.

"What is it? Tell me..." Arren’s voice was so soft, acting spoiled once again.

And it was proven again and again that Spade was not yet immune to it. He still hesitated but only patted Arren’s cheek.

"Let’s get the key first."

Arren narrowed his eyes and stared intently at his alpha, but seeing that he wouldn’t reveal anything, he could only relent.

The two of them returned to their room and got the key. When he saw it, Arren still had a doubtful gaze, but he also began to expect something from it.

After all, Spade wasn’t the type to give anything meaningless to him.

With Spade’s lead, the both of them went deeper into the palace. They even walked into some hidden path from the throne room. Arren even thought it was fine for him to come, but he remembered that they were already engaged, so he stopped bothering with it.

They then stopped in front of an inconspicuous room. Outside, Arren couldn’t see anything special about it, but that was more strange, as in the palace, every room was special in some way.

He lifted his head and looked at Spade with a questioning gaze.

Spade gave him a small, assuring smile and opened the door for them. This eased him significantly, and all he felt at this moment was anticipation.

Once they stepped inside, Arren couldn’t help but breathe slowly, seeing the things that greeted him. His eyes scanned the room, which was far bigger than most rooms he had seen in the palace.

Paintings, sculptures, and all things with great value seemed to be stored inside, things of which one could cost a fortune if one wanted to get their hands on them. He blinked and almost dizzily returned his gaze to Spade.

"It’s the royal treasury." Spade casually confirmed his thoughts. For some, they would never have had the chance to enter this place their whole lives, but Arren was obviously different.

For Spade, this royal treasury was not even as important as Arren.

Arren blinked a few times before he exhaled, and he recovered from his surprise. Since he didn’t know that Spade could nonchalantly bring him inside this place, this melted his heart. He clung tightly to the alpha’s arm, looking so soft that Spade’s heart started to itch.

"So, the purpose of that key is in this place."

He should have known that keys were too wasteful... ahem, luxurious even for him. At least, Arren would not even think of making a key like that.

Spade hummed and pulled the omega in a certain direction in the center. While they were walking, Arren also began to feast his eyes on the treasures that were deserving of being placed inside the royal treasury.

They were neatly organized, and in his eyes, the whole room was as though a massive floor in the museum. Most of them he couldn’t recognize at all, but some were slightly familiar to him. Arren had seen them in textbooks that even dated centuries ago.

He even saw royal suits and gowns being displayed there, which were probably the suits worn by the former emperors and empresses. And what made his eyes shine were the priceless pieces of jewelry that were stored securely in their respective glass cases.

Arren calculated inside his head and was astonished that even if he got only one of them and auctioned it, it was enough for him to survive his whole life, even with him spending lavishly.

Wiping the invisible drool in the corner of his lips, he averted his gaze and decided not to look at them anymore; otherwise, he might be tempted to do something.

Fortunately, Spade had stopped in front of a platform. Arren curiously checked what it was on the platform.

Instantly, the funny thoughts inside of his head vanished. Arren became speechless at once. Slowly, he looked at Spade, who was also staring at him with such affection while squeezing his hand.

"This..." he trailed off, words leaving him.

His gaze was shifting once more to the items on the platform. On there, it shone from the light of the precious jewels that were embedded in it.

Arren found them extremely familiar... The colors of them were similar to the key.

And yet, it definitely wasn’t a room or a box.

It was the crown of the empress.
