Chapter 424: Chapter 424- Too On Edge

As Mar-Yue and Sol were walking hand-in-hand towards the nearest pavilion, Woo-seong had his hand on the hilt of his sword and was looking around vigilantly.

"Such a beautiful pavilion, I’ve never seen such a scenery in the Eternal Desert."

Mar-Yue couldn’t help but marvel at the pavilion and the surroundings.

The opened pavilion had a simple design and was about twenty meters in diameter. The wooden pillars supporting the canopy above were slender and the railings going around it were at waist height.

By standing at the railings, one could overlook a lake garden.

Mist drifted on the surface of the lake and dense Aether Energy was flowing from it before disseminating into the surroundings.

The garden itself wasn’t ordinary as well. After being nourished by the rich Aether Energy from the lake, the simple flowers had became luscious, blooming with various colorful petals.

At the center of the pavilion was a small table with two chairs on either side for one to sit and enjoy the scenery with a cup of steaming hot tea.

Sol’s eyes lit up when he saw the pavilion as well. If he had entered seclusion here rather than the Eternal Desert’s separate dimension, the result of his cultivation wouldn’t be much different from what it was now.

That was how spectacular this place was, it was nearly on par with a separate dimension created by an Immortal.

’The other Great Clans and Holy Sects likely have similar holy lands to this. To think they were monopolizing such great cultivation grounds, it’s no wonder they could produce outstanding geniuses one after another.’

Sol thought before he suddenly thought of something and sighed to himself.

He just recalled that this was just one of the many guest mountains in the Jeagal Clan’s Ancestral Grounds. If that was the case, what about the deeper regions reserved for the members of their Clan? How ridiculous were their reserved power after living in this place for thousands of years?

Sol’s estimation of the Holy Sects and Great Clans’ strength rose once again. He had thought that the gap between the first-rate Clans and Sects like the ones in Pearl City wasn’t that huge compared to the Holy Sects and Great Clans, however, he was too naïve.

The gap was huge, beyond anything he had previously thought.

The wealth he scammed from those top Sects and Clans in Pearl City combined was like a drop in the bucket compared to the wealth a single Jeagal Clan had.

Sol suddenly had his heart rapidly beating in his chest. Now he was praying that this Eight Trigrams Decryption Array was even more important to the Jeagal Clan than he thought.

Just by imagining the wealth he could obtain from them, his mouth couldn’t but water slightly.

Sol hurriedly wiped the saliva from his lips. At the same time, Mar-Yue almost pulled out his grip from rushing towards the pavilion.

However, as they appeared on the small path leading towards the open pavilion, Woo-seong suddenly shouted.

"WAIT!"

Woo-seong then jumped forward.

The sound of a sword being drawn from its scabbard rang out in the surroundings.

Woo-seong wore a solemn expression as he swiftly hack down with his sword.

It wasn’t the Wudang Sect’s Immortal Sword, Sword of Severance, but the strike was still terrifying.

With one slash of the sword, countless Sword Energy flew out and engulfed the interior of the pavilion.

The table and chairs in the center were slashed into oblivion. But even then, the Sword Energy continued on, the other end of the pavilion burst apart, and Sword Energy rushed out towards the lake garden.

The moment the wave of Sword Energy hit the lake, the mist on the surface dissipated and large volumes of water rose into the air, emptying the lake. Even the once colorful flowers weren’t speared, the Sword Energy shredded them into nothingness.

The slender pillars holding up the pavilion’s canopy couldn’t withstand this onslaught and quickly collapsed.

The birds that were peacefully perched on the roof had long flown off after sensing this crazy person’s terrifying Sword Energy. Some of their colorful feathers drifted down from the sky amid their frantic flight to get away.

As the collapse of the pavilion canopy settled down, Woo-seong clicked his tongue before sheathing his sword; a frown was on his face.

Meanwhile, Mar-Yue and Sol were standing there staring at the destroyed pavilion with dumbfounded expressions.

Hearing Woo-seong click his tongue, Mar-Yue snapped back to reality and glared at him.

"Why would you destroy such a beautiful place? I can’t believe you would do such a thing! What a pity." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Mar-Yue then looked at the rubble that remained of the pavilion, the empty lake, and the nonexistent garden with regret in her eyes.

With a frown still on his face, Woo-seong said.

"I thought there was a formation here to trap us. My intuition was quite strong, so I reacted immediately, but it looks like I was wrong this time."

Mar-Yue became even more angry upon hearing that.

"Don’t you think I would be able to tell if I was walking into a Formation meant to trap us? Even if I fail to detect it, Sol would have definitely sensed it!"

Woo-seong suddenly shrank his head like a turtle because of Mar-Yue’s stern reprimand, but he argued.

"But given the strange nature of the Jeagal Clan’s Ancestral Formation, who knows if it had any peculiar abilities we can’t detect?"

Upon hearing this, Mar-Yue’s anger diminished by a bit. Sol also wore a thoughtful expression.

After a while, Sol nodded and said.

"That possibility can’t be ruled out, but it’s still a pity to destroy this place. Plus, we’re in the Jeagal Clan, we still have to show some restraint."

Woo-seong nodded repeatedly with a serious expression on his face.

However, Mar-Yue gave him a suspicious look. Though she soon turned and chose another pavilion nearby.

However, just as they reached their second pavilion, Woo-seong suddenly jumped out again.

"Let me test it before we enter."

Sol and Mar-Yue agreed with him at first, but when they saw him pulling out his sword ready to slash at the pavilion, their faces instantly darkened.

Mar-Yue quickly approached Woo-seong and jumped up before slapping him over the head.

A loud bang resounded out, which went to show that the slap wasn’t simple.

Woo-seong immediately felt like his brain was about to be shaken into liquid mush. He dropped his sword and released a mournful cry before squatting down and grabbing his head.

Mar-Yue stood over him and snorted.

"Serves you right, do you have to test the pavilion by destroying it?"

Sol, seeing this scene, shook his head. He then looked down and seeing a small stone next to his foot, he lightly kicked it.

The stone flew through the air and landed inside the opened pavilion. It skipped a few times before rolling to a stop at the center.

After waiting for a few breaths worth of time, the group saw that nothing happened to the stone.

Woo-seong looked at this and muttered under his breath.

"What if it only activates when flesh and blood enters?"

However, just as he said that, a butterfly with colorful wings drifted from outside and peacefully landed on the table inside.

Woo-seong went silent upon seeing such a scene, but a grumpy expression slowly emerged on his face.

Seeing Woo-seong make such an expression, Mar-Yue glared at him.

"Why do I feel like you were just using us walking into a trap as an excuse to destroy this place?"

Woo-seong’s face suddenly stiffened, but he quickly stood up and shook his head.

"Of course not, why would I do such a thing?"

Mar-Yue and Sol looked at Woo-seong with looks of suspicion, not believing him at all.

Mar-Yue snorted once before she turned and hurried over to the pavilion. Sol shook his head once more and followed her.

Woo-seong was thus left standing there massaging the back of his head.

When no one was looking, he glanced at the luscious surroundings with disgust and indignation.

He really didn’t like the Jeagal Clan or the other Great Clans and Holy Sects. His Wudang Sect deserved what happened to them, but one thing Woo-seong couldn’t forgive was how they all ganged up and stole his Sect’s most precious Martial Arts Techniques.

Those were things that contained the essence of his Wudang Sect and without it they were nothing.

Right now, Woo-seong was petty and vengeful. Even if it was as insignificant as destroying a single pavilion on one of the Jeagal Clan’s many guest mountains, he would do it.

However, destroying that pavilion released a lot of pent-up frustration he had been suppressing, so he wasn’t as eager to create more fuss.

Woo-seong went back on track and kept his guard up as he entered the pavilion.

However, even after a few minutes nothing suspicious happened.

Woo-seong was leaning against a pillar with a frown on his face.

It looked like the Jeagal Clan wasn’t trying anything.

Meanwhile, Sol and Mar-Yue were standing some distance away chatting and observing the garden.

Sol had his fingers outstretched and was showing off a neat little trick that made Mar-Yue giggle nonstop. His fingers were glowing with a green color and the butterflies that would normally be averse to coming close to humans were happily flying over to rest on them.

However, a loud bang suddenly echoed out which scared them away.

Woo-seong immediately grabbed his sword hilt, while Sol and Mar-Yue’s eyes flickered.

The three simultaneously turned to look in the direction of the sound, only to see that it was one of the large double doors opening.

Soon, three girls in their late teens, who looked to be servants, walked in while carrying trays.

Upon seeing this, Sol forced a smile.

"Perhaps... we are too on edge."

Mar-Yue also smiled embarrassingly and nodded.

However, Woo-seong still had his hand on the hilt of his sword and was staring at the three female servants with a cold expression.
