The Growth of a Titan-Chapter 426- Swift And Ruthless
Chapter 426: Chapter 426- Swift And Ruthless
The girl moved her wrist and feeling no pain, she happily thanked Sol. Afterward, she cut the pastry.
The pastry itself was a loaf of bread that was around half a foot in length. After the female servant sliced it, one can see that the inside is filled with a myriad of colors.
Sol and Mar-Yue seeing this paused. If it wasn’t for the fact that they saw this girl carry the pastry with her and then cut it herself, they would have thought this bread was spoiled.
After the servants hefted their trays, they bid the three goodbyes and left through the double doors.
After they left, Sol said faintly.
"I secretly checked her sleeves, there were formations etched into her sleeve fabricate that create a small independent space."
Mar-Yue eyes suddenly narrowed when she heard that, but Sol quickly added.
"However, I managed to take a look inside and the only thing I saw were trays and utensils."
Upon hearing that, Woo-seong sighed and said.
"The Jeagal Clan must have that for all of their servants so it’s convenient for them to do their duties. I was just too surprised when she suddenly took out a knife, so I acted rashly."
Sol shook his head.
"It was only a misunderstanding; I’ve healed her so it’s okay. However, only the Jeagal Clan, who’s proficient in Runes and Formations, would have the luxury to create such methods for their servants."
Mar-Yue nodded, slightly amazed as well.
After saying all of that, Sol suddenly clapped his hands.
"Okay, I’ll try this thing first."
As if he was holding back all along, he excitedly reached towards the white finger-shaped pastries. It looked like each had filling inside, and like a mysterious box, Sol wanted to see, or rather taste, what was inside by taking a bite.
Meanwhile, Mar-Yue chose to taste the tea.
However, Woo-seong suddenly spoke up.
"Wait! What if it’s poisoned?"
The cup of tea immediately froze at Mar-Yue’s lips. With a suspicious look on her face, she then took a cautious sniff.
Even though Woo-seong actions before were out of line, they still couldn’t let their guard down.
However, Sol’s actions didn’t pause, and he grabbed the pastry before directly biting half of it.
As he suspected, there was something inside. It was a red and slightly viscous substance. It wasn’t nectar, but it was extremely sweet, the sweetest thing Sol had ever tasted. It was to the point that his sense of taste was slightly overwhelmed.
After recovering, Sol licked the red substance from his lips and looked at the pastry in his hand in shock.
Seeing this, Woo-seong immediately panicked.
"Quick! Spite it out!"
Woo-seong was then about to jump up out of fear Sol had just swallowed a deadly poison, but Sol quickly said.
"It’s fine, I’m immune to poisons. At most they will give me a belly ache for a few minutes, however, this isn’t poisonous."
Sol then drank the tea and tasted those other pastries. None of them contained any poisons.
Seeing this, Mar-Yue shook her head and said using her Soul Energy.
’We’re being ridiculous, if the Jeagal Clan was planning something would they even need to use petty schemes like this?’
’...That’s true.’
Sol agreed, an awkward smile making its way onto his face.
Maybe he was wishing for too much, and perhaps the Eight Trigrams Decryption Array wasn’t as important to the Jeagal Clan as he had initially thought.
He was about seventy percent confident that the Jeagal clan would try to take it from him by force. One big reason was because he wasn’t from any of the top powers, he had no one backing him.
For a behemoth like the Jeagal Clan, they wouldn’t stoop so low as to negotiate with a junior to purchase an item that was rightfully theirs. Even if said person was a renowned genius.
It might even be seen as a slap in their face that Sol was trying to negotiate a purchase with them. Instead, he should have voluntarily offered up the Eight Trigrams Decryption Array to them.
Sol shook his head inwardly.
’They really might be willing to negotiate a price to purchase the Eight Trigrams Decryption Array.’
As Sol thought this, he became ecstatic.
Woo-seong suddenly spoke via Soul Energy as well.
’I think so too, I might have overthought things. If the Jeagal Clan intended to make a move, they would have outright sent an Elder-level figure to take the Array before kicking us out, rather than be so roundabout.’
Sol and Mar-Yue nodded in agreement.
The three then focused on the delicacies in front of them. They were still vigilant, but not as much as when they first entered the Jeagal Clan.
"Mar-Yue, try this."
Sol said as he held up one of the finger-size white pastries that was half beaten.
Mar-Yue glanced at it and seeing the red gooey substance slowly dripping from it, she knitted her brows.
"Does that thing taste good? It looks like the insides of a Spirit Beast worm that’s being gutted."
The smiling expression on Sol’s froze when he heard that, and he glanced at the white pastry in his hand.
Suddenly, a sad expression appeared on his face.
"Now I can’t get that image out of my head."
Sol had been a part of the group that prepared the food for the Festival back then in the Bloodline Tribe, and his time then was somewhat tortuous on his psyche.
Now that he was being reminded of that time while eating this thing, his appetite for it plummeted.
Mar-Yue upon seeing Sol’s expression laughed, but she felt a bit guilty. She suddenly leaned forward and took a bite of pastry.
Immediately her eyes lit up.
"That tastes good."
She then looked at the few remaining ones on the plate. Smiling, she pulled the plate over to take them for herself.
Sol, however, was looking at the remaining piece of pastry in his hand.
He gritted his teeth and steeled his resolve before ingesting the remaining piece in one go.
It still tasted wonderful, but he just couldn’t get the image of a Spirit Beast worm being gutted out of his head.
Ignoring Mar-Yue eating those worm pastries, Sol reached for the loaf of bread resembling a rainbow Woo-seong was almost finished eating.
Sol snatched three of the remaining five slices. However, just as he picked up one slice to eat it, ripples appeared in the air next to him.
Then, out of nowhere, an old man with gray-colored hair and a beard, who was wearing gray robes, suddenly appeared reaching towards Sol.
Danger the likes of which Sol had only felt a few times appeared in his h heart all the hair on his body stood on end.
Without hesitation, Sol shot back in retreat, obliterating the chair beneath him.
However, his reaction was simply too slow.
The old man released his cultivation base which wrapped around Sol trapping him in place.
Sol’s scalp went numb. This restrictive feeling was similar to what he felt when that hand appeared above his head in Martial Alliance City.
This old man... was a powerful Heaven Expanse Realm cultivation.
However, Sol’s eyes showed a ferocious light. His body only paused for a brief moment before his physical strength erupted, resisting this restricted force.
The old man’s eyebrows lifted in surprise at that, however, that slight pause was enough for him to approach Sol. His hand reached out, and it was obvious his aim was to grab Sol’s right arm that wore his storage ring.
But the old man’s actions were too swift and ruthless.
It seems like he was so desperate to get to the storage ring that he was willing to rip Sol’s entire right arm off.
