Chapter 461: Chapter 461- An Elder From The Jeagal Clan
While Sol was in his thoughts, the old man floated down in front of him. He was then taken out of his thoughts by the old man’s cold voice.
"Who permitted you to hold this ridiculous gathering on the Academy’s ship? Have you no tact? There are disciples below the ship who are busy cultivating in preparation for the upcoming tournament, yet you throw this party and disrupt their efforts. Is it that you think you’re in a good position, so you need not cultivate? But don’t you think you’re stepping on your fellow disciple’s efforts with your inconsiderate actions?"
Sol was at first taken aback by this Elder’s harsh scoldings, but he soon cupped his fist and explained.
"Senior, I assure you I had no intention of disrupting my fellow disciple’s cultivation session. I just wanted to hold a gathering so they could relax after cultivating so hard. My intentions come from a place of goodwill, but it’s true that I should have asked for your permission, and I sincerely apologize to Elder and my fellow disciples."
Despite Sol’s explanation and apology, the Elder’s face still wore a cold expression. He immediately snorted before saying once again.
"You say your intentions come from a place of goodwill, but why do I not believe you? Instead, didn’t you intentionally hold this gathering to purposely disrupt your fellow disciples’ cultivation? Your actions are quite despicable."
The disciples in the surroundings upon hearing this had their expressions change dramatically and they looked at Sol with suspicion.
Sol couldn’t help but have his heart grow cold as he stared at this Elder. He realized that this old man wasn’t here with good intentions from the start. The others also realized this, and they frowned.
"Elder, please don’t spread unfounded rumors without evidence."
Sol was wearing a calm expression, but his voice was extremely serious, somewhat cold even. But the Elder merely raised an eyebrow at his words and said.
"Evidence? Is the evidence not present? By holding this gathering you’ve successfully disrupted your fellow disciples’ cultivations so you can have an advantage in the upcoming Tournament. As an Elder of the Academy, I will not tolerate such underhanded methods."
Even though Sol’s heart was cold, his expression suddenly obtained a warm smile as he said.
"Elder, those are truly not my intentions. If you don’t believe me then please have a taste of my wine. I brew several variations that contain effects that can help my fellow disciples during their cultivations. Even though it’s not noticeable at first as they drink more the small increments can add up, and with the Aether Gathering Array in their rooms, I believe their cultivation speed will increase even more during this journey. Elder, please try it."
Sol said with his broad smile as he pushed a cup full of wine to the Elder.
When the disciples heard Sol’s words, they were all shocked. They immediately inspected their bodies and indeed, they realized the wine they had been drinking thus far was slowly cleansing their bodies. Their Internal Aether Energy was also being cleansed of any lingering impurity as well.
The effects were small, so they hadn’t noticed, but now they do. What was more is that if they continued to drink this wine these small effects of cleansing could be greater as Sol said. They couldn’t even imagine how much smoother their cultivation would be after this. Even though this slight increase in cultivation speed wouldn’t last, they could make significant gains during this time. And wasn’t this great news considering they were about to participate in the Tournament?
The suspicions the disciples had towards Sol all disappeared and were replaced with admiration. He was actually helping them under the guise of holding a gathering for them to relax. If not for this Elder, they wouldn’t even have known of his goodwill. Now that they knew they didn’t want to waste more time with this and wanted to quickly restart this party so they could drink as much of this wine as possible.
However, the Elder’s next words interrupted these wishful thoughts.
"Indeed, even if I don’t have a deep knowledge of Alchemy, I can tell this wine has these positive effects. However, because I don’t have deep knowledge of Alchemy, how can I be sure you didn’t put anything negative inside? You are from the Alchemy Pavilion; it is not illogical to think you could add side effects to this wine that would interfere with these disciples’ performance in the tournament. Did you not admit to secretly adding hidden effects to your wine? Even these disciples didn’t know of this, who is to say there aren’t similarly negative effects? Your Alchemy Pavilion is not battle-orientated so you should have done this to give them an advantage."
For the first time, a slight furrow appeared between Sol’s brows. This Elder’s words were logical and sound but mixed within it was the intention to completely ruin his reputation. No, this wouldn’t just lead to his reputation being ruined, this could lead to him being disqualified from the Tournament, or even further, being kicked out of the Academy.
It was that serious.
If not to this extent, then his punishment might extend to the Alchemy Pavilion as a whole. As for proving himself innocent by having his wine tested, who would be the one to test his wine? Wasn’t it this Elder? Couldn’t he just claim there were negative effects when there weren’t? They were on this ship and wouldn’t reach the Land of Shadows until a month, that was far from enough time to plant a negative side effect in his wine. Even if he just did that for one of his wine jars, his argument would still hold up.
"Why aren’t you saying anything? Is it because you indeed put negative side effects in your wine? Your punishment for doing such a thing will not be light!"
As the Elder continued to pressure Sol, someone from the crowd couldn’t help but whisper.
"Why is this old fart being so aggressive towards Brother Sol?"
Even though this person was whispering, the entire deck was silent, so his words entered more than a few people’s ears. The Elder included and this made him frown.
However, the other disciples didn’t remain silent, some began agreeing with this person.
"That’s right, doesn’t it seem like he’s purposely targeting Brother Sol?"
Sol already knew this Elder was targeting him. If he had to guess, then this should be an Elder from the Jeagal Clan.
