Chapter 470: Chapter 470- Reaching The Land Of Shadows

Despite the ship’s fast speed, a few large mountains and lakes were still slightly visible down below.

It was while the ship was passing over one of these lakes that a horrifying aura of Killing Intent shot toward the sky and tried locking onto the ship.

The aura was so terrifying that despite being blocked out somewhat by the ship’s defensive runes, the residual force caused a few of the weaker disciples’ faces to go pale white. Some even had their Aether Energy go chaotic, almost causing a backlash that could have left them severely injured or worse... dead.

But luckily, the ship was fast and before the Killing Intent could fully lock onto them, they were out of its area of influence.

This scary event severely dampened the moods of these disciples and caused most of them to become anxious about the remaining days ahead.

As the twentieth day approached nothing like that incident occurred since and the disciples began to relax a bit.

Well, not for long.

On the twenty-third day, just when they were a few days away from reaching the Land of Shadows, the ship suddenly passed by two Spirit Beasts fighting.

One was a giant white ape that had streaks of gold in its fur, while the other was an avian beast that resembled a hawk but had red scales and a tail emitting flame.

Both beasts looked formidable, and this was evident as their constant clashing shook heaven and earth. The ape destroyed one small mountain after another as it uprooted them like dry weeds and hurled them at the bird in the sky. The bird was fast and easily dodged them before diving down toward the ape like a comet. Its speed and large body made up for its lack of physical strength compared to the ape as it directly clashed with it.

From the clashing alone, Sol could tell that these two Spirit Beasts could crush a normal Heaven Expanse Realm cultivator. If the ship’s barrier wasn’t blocking their shockwaves, he would have been in mortal danger.

The ship was still at its top speed and quickly passed the battling beasts, but for whatever reason the avian Spirit Beast decided to abandon its fight with the ape and chased after their ship. Shockingly, its speed was so fast it could actually match up to the ship’s own.

Yoon-jae had panickily told them during this time that this avian Spirit Beast had a trace of the Fire Phenix Bloodline, a Divine Beast from the legends, thus making it far stronger than normal Spirit Beast of its level. It was also because of this that its size was so ridiculously large.

When it flew next to their ship, its large vertical eye looked like a small mountain as it stared at the disciples on the deck with murderous intent. This left some of these youths who had never experienced the outside world before trembling in fear.

Elder Linhu was quick to confront the beast before it could attack the ship, and he kept it busy so the ship could escape.

Since that day, the disciple could neither muster up the energy to continue partying nor cultivate. Most of them were just sitting on the deck of the ship while nervously looking back to see if Elder Linhu would return.

It wasn’t until four days later that Elder Linhu returned. The disciples all breathed a sigh of relief when they saw this. If they had run into another terrifying Spirit Beast battle and Elder Dongzhu had to step in, wouldn’t that mean they would be all alone for the rest of the journey? That was something none of them wanted. They were also reassured that Elder Linhu had returned unharmed aside from his clothes looking a little ruffled.

However, that was merely on the surface. Sol’s senses told him that Elder Linhu’s aura was very chaotic, meaning he was likely injured and heavily at that.

However, seeing how Elder Linhu comforted the disciples before casually returning to his post, Sol realized that he was trying to hide how seriously injured he was, but not just from the disciples.

Sol thought back on the events during the attack and also noticed that Elder Dongzhu hadn’t intervened.

’Why?’

Even though the last half of the month was Elder Linhu’s turn to guard the disciples, there was no need for him to leave the ship to confront the avian Spirit Beast.

Spirit Beasts of that level in the Quasi-Heavenly Realm were extremely smart with human-like intelligence. If Elder Dongzhu had released his aura as a deterrent, that Spirit Beast would have thought twice about attacking a ship guarded by two Quasi-Heavenly Realm cultivators after just finishing a battle. And not only that but even the way it left that ape to chase after them was weird to Sol. However, since nothing happened, he chose not to voice these thoughts.

After a few more days without any more mishaps to the disciple’s relief, the ship entered the territory of the Land of Shadows and shot toward the Miura Clan, a place that was known to be the center of the Land of Shadows.

As the sun reached its zenith, Sol stood on the deck of the ship with the others around him. They all watched the ship pass several towns and Cities before reaching the Miura Clan’s territory.

"Everyone, welcome to my home!"

Ushi couldn’t help but yell excitedly as a large City surrounded by a massive wall came into their view.

Compared to the towns and Cities they just flew over; this one was several times larger. They merely saw the tip of the iceberg as the city extended beyond the visible horizon. Sol even estimated that it was a few times larger than Pearl City as well.

"Brother Ushi, this is the territory of your Miura Clan? It’s so grand!" freewēbnoveℓ.com

Cheong-san said via soul message. However, Ushi chuckled in amusement before saying.

"That’s right, this could be considered my Clan’s territory, but this isn’t where my Clan is located. Look up."

Ushi pointed up at the sky as he said that.

The ship had already lowered its altitude upon entering the Land of Shadows and slowed down significantly as they approached the Miura Clan. So, because of this and their attention being grabbed by the impressive city, they were unable to notice the shocking sight hidden between the clouds above the city.

Sol and the others audibly gasped when they saw that a small island was actually floating in the sky among the clouds!

The other disciples soon saw the island as well and it caused an uproar among them. However, while those from Jianghu and the Eternal Desert were reacting with amazement upon seeing the island, those from the Western Continent were looking at it with confusion. This floating island looked far too similar to their own.

Among Sol’s group, Cian was looking at the floating island with a solemn expression. It wasn’t that he didn’t believe Ushi when he said his Miura Clan obtained an inheritance from the Western Continent containing their study of Alternative Magic, it was just that he didn’t realize how deep this inheritance was to actually be enough for the Miura Clan to create a floating island comparable to the ones on their Western Continent.

Cian was now somewhat shocked that the Royals and the Seven Great Churches hadn’t immediately waged war on the Miura Clan or the Eastern Continent as a whole after they saw this. Perhaps the only reason why they haven’t yet done so was because the tournament was being held inside the Shadow Dimension, where the inheritance containing the study of Alternative Magic was located.
